As a woman who had struggled with being overweight for over 2 years, it was safe to say I was “down and out”. I wasn’t eating and living healthy and this affected my self-confidence as a person and sometimes got me depressed, this was a very dark time for me. But all that changed when a friend of mine recommended Dr. Srivastava to me. As soon as Dr. Srivastava was recommended to me, I visited Nirvana healthy living and contacted her, she then put me through the whole process and I would say that it was a life-changing experience for me. I enrolled for the 8-day weight loss plan and also the consultation and cooking class. During the program, Dr. Srivastava made vital changes to my life. With the plan I lost 7 lbs. in 8 days and in a month I was able to lose 32 lbs. she helped me reach my weight loss goal and brought back my self-confidence. Dr. Srivastava was knowledgeable and very supportive throughout the whole process, she taught me how to prepare healthy meals that helped achieve optimal health, the proper nutrition that was right for my body. She also counseled me on moderate exercises and deep relaxation techniques that were essential to my well-being. I have reached a level of fitness that I never thought possible, I feel, look, and act years younger and I am living a healthier life all thanks to Dr. Srivastava. She has completely changed my life!

First, full disclosure, I'm getting a homeaid apple dumpling for writing this review! :) Seriously though, I've known Loreal for over 2 years now. She works at Kincaid's butcher shop near my house which I frequent and we quickly became fast friends. I pick out my meat and she tells me how to cook it, how great is that! My first experience hiring her as a private chef was giving a cooking lesson to my 6 year old daughter for a birthday gift. Loreal taught my daughter and her friend how to make homeade pizza. She was completely engaging and even convinced the girls to try different vegetables. They had a blast! Shortly thereafter I hired her to create a meal for my new years eve party. She was overly prepared, sending me the menu and her plans for set-up. I was able to relax and spend time with friends since I didn't have to worry about cooking or clean-up! She did all the shopping as well! The food was amazing and her price is reasonable and she will be as involved as you want with your guests. I would absolutely recommend Loreal, but sorry everyone I have a standing reservation for New years eve!

I had never used Thumbtack before. Joe Merchanthouse, a personal chef, responded to my request for same. He stepped in at the last minute to handle a private dinner party for my husband and myself. Cannot say enough about Chef Joe. He developed a menu, worked within my budget, prepared a fabulous meal, and spoiled my guests. Absolutely cannot wait for any excuse or event to have him back. My guests are still talking about him. A consummate professional. Thank you, Chef.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
