Instructor was patient. With so few lessons, not much progress was made and the audition didn't go well.
I have been taking guitar lessons with David since 2010. He's a remarkable instructor. He covers everything from technique to songwriting to theory to you name it. I've learned a great deal from him and it has been fun. You'll have a blast too!
Josh is a fantastic drum instructor. He's got talent galore, enthusiasm to burn, and the ability to teach at whatever level the student is at. He combines a passion for music with a natural ability to communicate clearly, which translates into lessons that are super fun and productive. He trained at Berkley won awards for teaching, and is highly sought after as a performer He's truly a gem, as a person and as a drum instructor. Could not be happier!
I took drum lessons privately with Harrison for roughly 3 years. His flexibility in teaching different musical styles has allowed me the chance to learn to play rock, jazz, and everything in between. Every lesson was centered around what I wanted to learn while covering the importance of technique. Taking private lessons with Harrison made it fun to practice for the next week and sparked a passion for playing the drums.
I'm 40 years old and, though I have played several musical instruments formally and informally in my past, the last time I played orchestral or rock-n-roll instruments was 20 years ago. When I recently mentioned to my wife that I'd really like to learn to play guitar "right" sometime (having dabbled in teaching myself a long time ago), she got lessons with Greg for my birthday. I've been to around 10 lessons with Greg so far, and I have to say that I'm really impressed with his teaching skills. First off, he adapts very quickly to your skill level; he'll give you things to challenge you while not overwhelming you. Second, he doesn't only teach you scales and musical theory without application like some music teachers do. Third, he listens to what *you* want to do. For example, I told him that I always wanted to learn finger picking, and mentioned a few songs I liked that used that technique; he learned them on his own and the began teaching them to me. Fourth, in a good balance between my second and third points, he will always sneak in some theory into your lessons but always teach you how the theory can help you in practical situations. For example, in my very first lesson he taught me the simple minor pentatonic scale and showed me how I can use it to solo in any 12-bar blues song. Finally, he's someone that makes you feel comfortable at all times -- someone you aren't afraid to screw up in front of, and someone you can bring questions to. I really enjoy our lessons, feel like I'm learning a lot, and plan to continue. When my kids are old enough to start learning an instrument, I'll send them to Greg too. Please consider using Greg as your teacher. I think you'll be very satisfied.
I am a beginner in my mid 30s. I've had 3 lessons for guitar so far with George and have learned a lot. Very knowledgeable (Theory, reading music, tab, etc..), patient, helpful, and teaches well. Shows up on time and is communicative. Excited to continue to learn more! Highly recommend!
I've taken 3 lessons with Ben and I am extremely happy and excited about the potential of my drumming! Ben is a great, thoughtful teacher that is not scared to throw new and exciting rhythms at you. As a beginner drummer with music experience, I value his patience and friendliness and he will even cater his lessons to any style you are curious about! If you are new to drumming or are at a higher level, Ben is the guy that will open your drumming to new levels. I look forward to our lessons and many more throughout the year!
Great communication, respect, knowledge and punctuality
Always great lessons! Christyn knows what she's doing, and is always there to help! Very friendly and helpful and she is easy to get along with.
Patrick is an amazing music teacher and has endless patience teaching my 8 and 10 year old guitar and drums. He makes the lessons fun, while still ensuring the kids are making progress. He's an absolute pleasure and I would recommend him to anyone!
Thus far, I have had 4 lessons at Music Makers with a guitar instructor. I love the location and demeanor of the instructor, the price is right, and the scheduling options are also great. I am very happy with this find!
Ben has a good teaching style that works for me. What the path to accomplishment is and how what we're doing today contributes to that/fits into the big picture.
My 7 yr old grandson responds well to Mr Landers as a teacher. I would highly rec him to others.

Some are in and have graduated major music schools, others are in the scene working in the real world. Some with music degrees and others with out. I can work with anyone that wants to learn!! Thank You!!

I am a Boston based graduate of Berklee College of Music, with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance. I create fun and engaging lessons for all ages that are tailored to your specific personalities and needs! I have worked with a wide range of age levels from 7 year olds to adults in their 40s. The skill levels were anywhere from kids just wanting to try drums out, to students wanting an advanced method and perspective on drums and music. I try to cater to the students specific needs and preferences, and find great rewards in the various styles of teaching from beginner to advanced. I love to incorporate listening and transcribing famous beats or songs, as well as songs the students might want to learn. I use a mix of learning from notation and reading, with hearing things by ear as well, to develop a balanced connection between the limbs and ears. I use drum method books for things like 4-way independence in the limbs, and having good technique and control. I also think improvisation is an essential part of music, and I allow students to be free in expressing their musical ideas within the context of a song or groove. This is the most fun for me! One fun method I use is a Call and Response method, to work on memory and critical listening as well. It all depends on the pace that the student is most comfortable with, and maybe if they only want to learn their favorite pop/rock songs, thats fine as well. I just might try incorporating the methods above in a more suitable way for that specific individual.
I offer 1 hour of beginner or intermediate drum instruction on a full-size drum kit, learning stick control and rhythm, from basic beats to more complex beats as time goes on. Everything is provided, snack and beverage as well. I have about 14 drums and 15 cymbals all ready for you to start. Left- and right-handed drummers don't matter.

I have been playing the drums for over 10 years, including performance and recording experience with professional musicians. I recently played drums on an album that has just been signed to Ropeadope Records Label in New York City. I have studied and played at Jazz Workshops at the New York University Steinhardt School of Music and the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I have also been studying with some of the best drummers of their time, including Billy Hart and Bob Moses. I took classes, ensembles, and lessons at the New England Conservatory pre-college, and received the highest level of the jazz certificate at the program when I graduated. I went on to get accepted into New England Conservatory of Music with scholarship to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance. I have performed at many venues such as the Boston Public Library Courtyard, The Hatch Memorial Shell Boston, Symphony Hall, Wally's Jazz Cafe, Renaissance Boston, Smalls Jazz Club NYC, Woodstock Opera House in Chicago and many more. I am an experienced musician with integrity and determination.
Do you want to learn to play the drums? Do you want to discover the wonderful world of harmony and ear training? Do you already play, but you are looking for advanced concepts? The learning experience is an important step for every musician. Since when I was young, I have been in contact with great artists who taught me to give great importance to what I do. My strength is surely dedication. I am an experienced drummer with over 14 years of professional experience. I graduated from the Berklee College of Music and currently perform around the Boston area with a number of up-and-coming artists. I have extensive teaching experience and also perform in a lot of very wide-ranging musical situations, ranging from rock to straight-ahead jazz. I love to teach and have a studio in my apartment in Brookline and a teaching studio in Cambridge near Central Square. Ideally, I'd like to teach at either one of my studios, but I'd be willing to come to where you are, provided your location is easily accessible by train. Yes, I don't drive.
