High winds have blown loose some fascia along the side of our roof (as you can see in the photos, the metal trim between the roof and the siding). Some pieces were blown off and some pieces were bent and dangling. We weren't getting any leaks or anything, it was mostly annoying/unsightly. I initially uploaded some photos and answered some questions from Thumbtack. Baker Bros. Exteriors was one of five respondents. 2 of the 5 included rough preliminary estimates. I chose Baker Bros. due to the low price, willingness to give me a rough price rather than a song and dance, responsiveness, and high rating. Shaun from Baker Brothers showed up on time for a free estimate and the actual quote was a little higher ($400 vs. the initial $225) once he was able to see it in person but he was able to take care of the problem right away so we decided to give them a shot. It took about 2 hours and I'm no expert, but Shaun seemed to be taking care in his work and the finished product looks good to me.
We gave this Contractor more work ie. Fascia Boards and Gutter Replacement. Said that they would work up a price and come back next week. Never showed up.
I hired Thomas because our gutter and soffit were coming loose. He immediately gave us a quote and a time he could come the following day. Thomas arrived on time, assessed the job, and told us how long it would take to complete the job. While he worked, it became apparent that the task was more complicated than we initially thought... there was some rotting wood underneath! But Thomas solved the problem, re-affixed our gutter and soffit, and even though the job took twice as long, he then secured all of our gutters, caulked our roof in a few spots, and gave an assessment on how much life our roof has left. I expected the price to be higher since the work took longer and was more difficult, but Thomas stuck by his initial quote. I highly recommend working with Thomas, and I will definitely think of him for any future jobs.
I hired RB to repair drywall which included knicks in @ four places plus three holes from door knobs hitting into the drywall; repair wooden gate which included re-nailing to slates (+ RB further fortified gate a little extra at no charge); drywall repair over stove from water/ heat damage; installed 3 door stops; screwed on two vents (no charge) and repaired part of the fascia/ soffit on roof which was disconnecting from roof. He arrived when he said, did more than I asked him to do, finished early, repaired the drywall very well/ no visible signs, and quoted a reasonable price on the jobs I hired him to do. I would hire him again.
I got several estimates for gutters and gutter covers: Villatoro roofing not only gave me the best price, but he did not try and over sell me. My gutters were fine and all I needed was them secured with brackets to the house and covers. He was the only one that actually got on the roof to inspect and the only one who checked the wood under the fascia to make sure it wasn't damaged or rotten; others just said it needed to be replaced without actually checking it.
I would highly recommend Caliber Roofing which is a small family run business. The owner Steve and his crew did an amazing job tearing off and replacing my horse barn roof (approximately 25 squares) and installing new synthetic fascia and 6 inch aluminum gutters, and also replacing damaged roofing boards/underlayment. He offers a competitive price, uses the best quality materials, and Steve works on the roof with his crew to ensure that the quality is to his standards. I was also impressed with the way they cleaned up the job, as it was critical there were no nails left around the barn for a horse to pick up. In summary, you cannot go wrong with having a roof or gutter replacement with Caliper Roofing.
Awesome guys. They did great work replacing a rotted fascia board and repairing the gutter attached to it. They were careful to reuse the aluminum wrapping I had and even went so far as to put the new nails through the old holes to keep the from punching new holes that may seep water. What was also great was that he only charged me for the time worked. I had a max quote and if he finished earlier I didn't get charged. Good work at a reasonable and honest price.
Andre Cut holes in roof for roof jack vents, attached bathroom vents to roof jack vents, and installed soffit vents. Really great. Andrew scheduled me in last minute and completed the work quickly. He walked through his work with me when he was done.
Initial estimate appointment arrived late. His estimate was thousands, YES thousands less than the five we received which was more inline with the amount of work needed. Replacing fascia board and two damaged internal boards along with the coping, seal and flashing. We had to reschedule onset of repair to our portico by two days for medical reasons, no one showed up at the new scheduled time. No call or response to texts, then showed up four hours late without announcing his arrival and went straight to work. Quoted the job using sheet metal but installed PVC boards, which works for us; just not what was finalized. Finished in the amount of time he promised and the job looks great. Offers a 5 year warranty on his work. Cleaned up after themselves and put my personal items back as they found them. We will be able to determine the quality of the work after the first rain storm.
Just thought I'd give credit where credit is due. I don't normally give reviews, but thought I should in this case, as the whole project went so smoothly. This has not always been the case for us when hiring contractors in the past. Shane is hard working and dependable. He has many years experience in a great number of construction / contracting fields. We recently had him do some work for us in a commercial recording studio, installing an antique door, (antique for aesthetics) and the end result was great The door and header above are level, look neat and tidy, and finish and trim are done to a high standard. Couldn't be happier. I might also add, that Shane's prices were fair and reasonable, and throughout the project he conducted himself in a professional manner. Shane also paid respect to his surroundings, in so far as nothing was damaged in the studio, and he took care in cleaning up after himself when the work was completed. He also kept the work area tidy while the work was in progress. We will be calling Shane in the future, as we have some outdoor trim, fascia, and soffit that are in need of repair. To cut to the chase... I highly recommend Shane if you are in need of any sort of renovations, or need help with any other construction related upgrades or repairs.
We needed replacement of wood where it had rotted around several exterior doors; replacement of roofline fascia, and construction/installation of a patio railing. From the initial estimate through completion of the job, we were pleased with Silver Star Builders, Inc. The crew was courteous and diligent. Mr. Mes knew exactly what was required. The results look great. Would definitely hire again.
I highly recommend this contractor. He was very thorough and repaired the fascia on the side of my house, plus he and his crew repaired several shingles that were coming off and cleared the gutters! The final cost was very reasonable.
Polestar did our vinyl siding, soffits, aluminum wrap, and gutters. Nick and Chang were very responsive and personal, punctually met appointments and time commitments, and delivered what they said they would. The quality was very good and there is nothing I could say really needed improvement. I would definitely use them again.
I met Rick Stultz with Charles M Topper Construction. I had my roof and gutters replaced. Rick is an extremely nice guy to work with. I went over what projects I was looking to get done and he provided me with several options. I also have Construction experience and wanted to replace the wood, facia trim, and soffit myself. Rick had no issue with that idea and said he'd work with me on that. The estimate was detailed with everything we discussed, there was also pricing options. He didn't pressure us or try and push the sale. I let him know when and what I wanted to get started with. Rick coordinates the work with contractors they use and is on the job overseeing everything. The crew that came out to strip the 2 layers of the roof and install the new one did an excellent job. I watched them work almost the entire time they were on the job and they started by 8am to 6pm for 2 1/2 days. They worked nonstop all day only took about 1/2hr lunch break. Rick's Team did very impressive work and they are very hard working! Rick followed up with me during and after the job was completed. The estimate was competitive with other companies but it did work out to be a little cheaper than the other 2 companies that also estimated my project. I did have to pay a little extra once the work started to replace 22 pieces of plywood. Rick allowed for some plywood in the estimate but a lot more needed replacing than expected. I seen everything replaced, took my own pictures and knew to expect the unexpected. My roof was waayyy over due for being replaced. I have other projects (windows and inside house stuff) I plan to give Rick's Team a call when I'm ready to start the next project. My wife and I had an excellent experience using this company! Thank you Rick. Dave
Contacted About Time Windows for guttering, downspouts, facia, and soffits. Jacob reqponded quickly with a better quote than several others. The work was done when promised and was neatl professionally installed , and looks GREAT! They'll be the first ones I call when I need more home improvement.
Landmark came out the next day from making the Thumbtack request. I'm glad I waited for them to come out. We needed soffit ventilation installed around the perimeter of our home. After meeting with a few other companies I was ready to tell Rob exactly what I was thinking I needed and I suggested that I might do the work myself. They called me in the afternoon and encouraged me to handle the job myself, but if I made a Harry Homeowner mistake that they'd be glad to help out. They even gave me pointers on things to be sure to do. Glad to have them in the area and based on my experience I plan to use them again.
