I have had Kevin help me with multiple construction and contracting projects over the years. Some of the work encompassed a fully built shed, window and door installations, insulation and venting work, roofing, demolition, grading and concrete work, heating and cooling projects, and even plumbing. He has been readily available when emergencies arise, such as a leaky chimney in a new house I recently purchased. The kind of attention to detail you will get from Kevin is rare in this business today. I have watched him spend a lot of extra time on a screen door that didn't shut completely perfect after an installation. He wouldn't give up until it was proper. He will not cut corners and make sure that the job is done to perfection. The difference you will get is quality and follow up. From quotes, through the project, and up until the finished result, Kevin is present. I have never been disappointed in anything Kevin has done for us, and have recommended him to do work for my family and friends.

Carelton responded promptly to my request about roof removal and replace. He came out the same day when it was raining. He did an inspection took measurements and gave me a fair price. He started the project and completed it in two days. He cleaned up and took care of business. I will definitely hire Carlton again.

We had Weathervane install new gutters and repair part of our roof and siding. Their prices were very competitive and they were very responsive to any of our questions or concerns. We would call them again for future projects.

Working with Nic at bossman co was as easy as it could ever been and would definitely recommend Nic and Bossman co. With so many company's out there it was hard to pin point on who to go with, but looking back, we are glad we went with Bossman Co. Nic made the whole process comfortable for us from start to finish w/o any issues. He was polite, courteous, non pushy(unlike some sales people we dealt with)easy to talk to, patient with us, and explained in detail how the work would be done and what was recommended for the job. Always was available to speak to and answer any questions we had. The whole process from beginning to end of roof/insulation installation went better then I had thought. There was no pushy, hi pressure salesman like other companys have and what they said would be done was and what price they said it would cost it cost that and no more. The price was fair and job done well overall and in a timely manner with no delays. The work was done way sooner then anticipated, which was a bonus. Workers were courteous, fast working and left no mess to have to clean up. Would recommend them to anyone no doubt for the great work they did for us, fair price, job completion quick, and overall good service they provided. Eric

After a lot of researching I chose Husky Metal Roofs to install a new standing seam metal roof on my house, garage and carport. The workmanship is outstanding. They use a clip system instead of screws that seem to loosen all too often. They also fold under all the edges for a nice clean look. If you are half as fussy as I am then Husky Metal Roofs is the company you need to hire. Email me for a reference if you like.

Curtis and his crew did an awesome job with taking care of the mold damage I had after finally getting my roof replaced (Shout out to Ferguson Roofing of Howell MI!) Very good price, friendly hard working crew. Left my house cleaner than it was! I would definitely hire them again, especially after I save money to have a pole barn built!

      About

ASI Metal Sales began as a natural extension of ASI Improvement, Michigan’s foremost leader in roofing and metal roof installation. ASI Improvement began in 1986, using material from local roofing suppliers. Over time, we realized that we could improve the quality of our material and lower the costs at the same time by manufacturing the materials ourselves and passing those savings on to our customers. Time and time again, we have been asked by do-it-yourself homeowners and roofing contractors alike to manufacture roofing material for them. The time involved became too restrictive, so we began ASI Metal Sales. We specialize in metal roofing material, but we can provide almost anything a roofer needs, from metal sheets to tapping screws. We can also offer free seminars to educate beginners, and our metal roofing pros are always available to answer your questions and offer professional roofing solutions.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
