Josh has a very warm, inviting and professional personality. I was scared to death of taking singing lessons but I decided to face my fears and just do it. Josh made the environment very comfortable. He was very patient, not judgmental, very informative. He helped me establish goals with my lessons and I could not be more excited to see where this journey takes me. Thanks again Josh!

My mother and I are very happy with our lessons! Very prompt, well educated and humorous. Makes the lessons fun while still implementing the discipline needed to succeed. He even brought me the sheet music for a song that I want to learn in the future. We are looking forward to continued lessons with C.J.!

Andrew is just what I needed. Playing piano for enjoyment has been a longtime dream. He feels my goals are achievable. We started with the basics and reviewed what I knew. I still have trouble reading music but he says it will come. If I come up short after practicing daily, I mention my frustration. He listens, is encouraging and added music that will be fun to play. I look forward to our lessons. He is pleasant to be with and there are no stupid questions. Even after a short time, I hear and feel the progress I am making. I couldn't be more happy. Give him a chance and you will see what I mean!

I am a retired executive who loves the magical flow that only playing a piano can deliver. (flow is defined as a highly focused mental state). Upon retirement, my brother suggested taking piano lessons, something we both did years ago. He suggested that it would challenge both my mind and senses while finding that illusive state called flow. I searched for a unique and skilled teacher with a strong musical acumen. An individual with a personality and style that would guide me on my musical journey. A leader with heart. It is said that when the student is ready the teacher appears. This was the case with Dr. Rachel Morin, D.B.A. Highly skilled, a stickler for proper timing, hand movement and theory, she has made a dramatic improvement in my musical ability. Rachel is sincere in her efforts to guide and encourage students to achieve more than they thought possible. Her willingness to explain musical composition underscores her emphasis that music is more than just playing the right notes. It is delving into the ZEN aspects that few explore. It is finding flow. Mr. Wolfe is an excellent piano teacher. Engaged and supportive, he offers encouragement and helpful comments regarding how to perfect or excel at a musical piece or technique. He is very accommodating when scheduling lessons--particularly considering changing seasons or obligations-- and is eager to pursue the most beneficial customization of lesson frequency for each student. As a former student of Mr. Wolfe, I highly recommend his piano instruction services. Finding another teacher as experienced and dedicated as Mr. Wolfe will certainly be difficult. :)

Daniel is an excellent accompanist, very professional and a pleasure to work with. He's one of the most capable pianists I've ever met, and he knows how to teach whether or not you have any formal training, whether or not you read music. If you're looking for a teacher or an accompanist, you can't go wrong with Daniel.

The location was a little off putting but Tiffany was very knowledgeable and precise. I took this class in college and I actually learned some new things from her! Her experience as an EMT definitely shows and makes her lesson more relevant. Also, they offer classes several times a week no matter the class size! Will definitely recommend them to others.

Travis gives lessons to My wife, kids (12 & 8) and myself and since day one it has been an awesome experience. Travis is very good with the kids, patient and knows how to keep them engaged through out the lesson. Both of my children enjoy learning and playing with Travis. My wife and I have had a great experience as well. Travis is easy to get along with and a great teacher. We both look forward to our lesson as it is a good time and a nice way to relax. Thank you Travis for helping my family learn to play the guitar.

Our two sons began taking piano lessons with Julie in the Spring of 2007, more than 10 years ago. From the very beginning Julie encouraged them to share their talents with others, providing opportunities for them to play at recitals, nursing homes, and competitive type events. In the studio they had the opportunity to build friendships through parties and ice cream socials. Julie helped to instill a great work ethic in our sons. Early on they learned that hard work and discipline can lead to great rewards. Julie prepared our sons to win many awards, and both have been encouraged to pursue scholarships in college. Our overall experience with Julie has been a huge blessing. We have found her to be caring, professional, and well-equipped to instruct students of all ages and abilities. We have referred many people to her and have never heard of any complaints. We wholeheartedly recommend you give her a call today!!

My 11 year old started vocal lessons 4 weeks ago and she absolutely loves it. It started out as just learning to sing for an audition but she is learning more than she could imagine and really enjoys singing. Helen is so patient with her and does a fantastic job in teaching. I cannot say enough good things about her.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

  • Asthma attack
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Heart attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head or back injury
  • Stroke
  • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

What do you learn in a first aid course?

First aid training gives you a variety of lifesaving skills for responding to many different emergency situations. In a first aid course you’ll learn about how to examine someone who’s been hurt, how to use a defibrillator, how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to control bleeding and trauma. Some courses include pediatric first aid as well as adult first aid; helping a choking infant, for example, is different from helping a choking adult. Although you can take CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) courses separately, most first aid training includes both.

In a first aid course you’ll also learn how to respond to:

  • Wounds, including punctures, cuts and hemorrhages
  • Heart attacks, chest pain and respiratory arrest
  • Bone fractures, sprains and torn muscles
  • First-, second- and third-degree burns
  • Poisoning
  • Choking
  • Bites and stings
  • Hypothermia or frostbite
  • Shock and seizures
