I joined G-Force after my gym (East Hills) of many years closed. Right from the beginning the instructors, trainers and coaches made me feel comfortable and welcome. The instructors and the class selection is great! Melissa Cramer is a great trainer and instructor. I always look forward to my 5:30 am GFX training sessions with Melissa! Love G Force !

After me first coaching session with Scott, I was hitting the ball so much further and straighter that the guys in the league accused me of cheating! The way Scott tailored his approach to me learning style really helped me improve quickly.

Deana has been supportive while still holding me accountable and challenging me to push further. She has been consistent in her communication of my exercise and eating plan. Our workouts are only thirty minutes but have done more to shape my body than hours of cardio or cross training has ever done. I'm much stronger and healthier and I have reduced my exercise time. I highly recommend Deanna to anyone looking to change their body and overall health.

Connie has been such an inspiration and a help to me for the past 4 or 5 years. I have worked with her as my personal trainer, in a group class with exercise and nutrition combined and now in a class setting for seniors. Connie always has time to answer my questions, of which there are many, and to give advice how to stay healthy and fit. She is always concerned about those she is working with. I would never hesitate to recommend Connie to anyone who is thinking of working with her.

There are times in our busy lives we lose track of our health and our inability to stay fit. We do not realize how important eating healthy and staying in shape is, until we hit that dead end and our body and mind no longer can function properly. It is a certain person, who steps into your life and makes you conscious of how crucial it is to focus on yourself, mentally, physically, and emotionally. And for this, I owe it to one unique, extraordinary, intelligent, energized, determined, focused, young lady I have the privilege of calling my mentor, Amanda Fisher. Amanda approached me one day as she invited me to attend one of her boot camp sessions. There were no strings attached, she did not hassle me to attend, just asking to try it and see how I feel about it. Of course, my mind felt as though I really needed some change in my life, although my body wasn’t haven’t it. It almost seemed as though my brain was playing mind games with me. I literally had one excuse of not going after another. After much thought, I did attend her boot camp session. BEST decision ever! Amanda is an awesome trainer! Focusing on each individual’s physical capabilities. Gentle, but motivating you to push and take the next step. Her workout principles consist of stretching techniques, movement drills, and prevention of injuries. Amanda’s approach is to incorporate physical activity, conditioning that maintains performance, prevents injury and illness, and maintains a state of health and well-being within your life. It’s with sadness I say this; she is no longer in Arizona, but Michigan you have gained an asset, an Awesome Physical Trainer that is!!!!

One of my favorite things about Valeo is the camaraderie felt every time I walk into the gym. Either at a Semi-Private session or a MetCon class (a mixture of grunts, sweat, and laughter, surprisingly much laughter), the place is filled with encouragement and hard work. Trainers and fellow members are invested in creating a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable workout experience. Valeo also addresses other factors that affect your well-being: sleep, water consumption, stress, and nutrition. Thanks to the support and personalized approach, I have gained strength, I stand taller, and I flex my arms probably a little bit more than necessary. Coach Kelly, Mike, and Derek have challenged me, held me accountable, and celebrated my progress through each session. This is a wonderful gym where I have found you will find a dedicated team advocating for your holistic wellness. Invest in your health and this team will go above and beyond to help you achieve your goals.

She helped me realize that relationships involve teamwork in order to be successful. By understanding this concept I was able strengthen my bond with my girlfriend, so much that I can call her my best friend now. This is an amazing health coach that really cares about finding your passions and using them to attain your goals. She helped me find what I was missing when no one else could. I definitely recommend her to anyone seeking a friendly and professional solution towards living a better life!

La Chika Organika, is very passionate about the health of others and she goes the extra mile to make you feel that you are not alone as she walks with you throughout your personal journey. For years I have struggled with eating healthy and getting rid of the toxins that were keeping me bound from a lifetime of poor eating habits since child hood. I started working with her and she introduced me to a different way of eating delicious foods completely meat free. In addition to eating healthy, the personal one on one support is great! She never gives up on me, no matter how much I tried in the past; she is still motivating me to be the best me I can be. Anyone working with her will not be disaapointed, I look forward to the next phase as she continues to walk this journey with me.

Jim is more than your run of the mill fitness coach. His experience, interest in helping you reach your goals and most importantly passion is what sets him apart from the rest. He has a thirst for knowledge that ensures what you receive is an authentic, well-thought, science-based information; not some recycled content from a handful of magazines.

I worked with Noelle to prepare for overseas missionary life. She gave me tools for improved communication, cultural shock, and how to maintain a support system and self care. I went from slightly terrified to feeling excited and confident. I've been abroad for three months and have used her tools to help transition well with my new cross cultural team and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Highly recommend a chat and cup of tea with her to talk about learning new skills and coaching!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
