About

I provide individual, personalized lessons on guitar and drums. My approach is unique in the fact that I play the guitar along with the drum students. I play drums along with my guitar students as well. I have found that this is fun for the students, and they get the experience of playing their instrument with another musician, rather than just by themselves which is great experience for them. I have over 14 years of experience teaching students ranging from children to adults. I believe in giving students plenty of encouragement and keeping the lessons fun. By keeping lessons fun, the students are more motivated to practice. I also provide live jazz and other music for private events in the Kansas City area. I provide reliable and friendly service and have local references. Ed Feltman "Brad worked as a drum teacher for my son from the ages from 11-16. Brad encouraged my son day by day at each lesson. The encouragement resulted in the constant addition of new skills and great competence. Brad encouraged him to play in many different styles and situations and provided opportunities that allowed him to stretch himself out of his comfort zone in many situations. In outside situations, my son was not required to "try out" due to his well-known skills." "I would recommend Brad's teaching expertise to anyone interested in learning drums or continuing to expand their skills." Kim Wheeler "Brad started teaching our 11-year-old son the guitar about 2 years ago. He offers reasonable rates and flexible scheduling. Our son was enthusiastic about music but discouraged after taking piano lessons and feeling like it was a chore. Within three months of taking guitar lessons with Brad, he had learned the power cords and could play over five songs by ear. Brad's method of teaching emphasizes learning the basics and immediately applying it to playing music a young student recognizes and can grasp. He understood that just learning notes in a book would not keep a young man's attention long and instead, emphasized learning cords by sound and developing good fingering and hand-eye coordination on the instrument. Brad emphasizes positive encouragement while adding layers that pushes our son's learning a little bit further with each lesson. After 2 years, our son can play a portfolio of songs, including solos. He has performed in school talent shows, and he is learning to read music on the page just in time for the school band. We couldn't be happier with our son's progress. Thanks to Brad's measurable teaching abilities."

About

I had the opportunity to have voice lessons with Anya and it was absolutely great! She was flexible enough to work with me via Skype since we weren't located in the same state. Each week there was something new I learned about music and singing in general. Every time we tried something new Anya made sure I had full understanding of it and was very open to questions. I would definitely recommend Anya to anyone who is looking for vocal or music lessons. She's totally the best fit for the job! 😊

About

I am fifty-one and wanted to take a few guitar lessons. I was turn on to Jacob back in February of 2012 and go for thirty minute lessons once a week. I suppose there are hundreds of good teachers in the ares, but I think in Jacob I have found a good mix of what I need to know and what I want to know. In the short time that Jacob has been teaching me, I can now read music, know a little about theory, know enough chords to play hundreds of song! We spend a lot of time playing scales up and down the neck, this is called soloing. Its what you hear in most rock and blues with all the bends, hammer on, hammer off and slides. I take my lessons sometime with my acoustic and then my electric. I will never be able to play classical like Andres Segovia or shred like Slash, but with Jacobs help someday soon I will be able to play a ton of stuff. Each week he gives me more and more tools to help me to fulfill a dream I have had for as long as I can remember. Give Jacob a try and see if he's a good fit with what you want to accomplish. You may want to pay him just to play for you!
