Dr. Hall is an expert in both the technical and artistic aspects of singing: singing is both a science and an art. He teaches technique grounded in the structure and mechanics of the vocal instrument. When I began studying with Dr. Hall 12 years ago, I was losing my voice and burst into tears after singing for him. I was convinced that I had lost my voice forever. He immediately diagnosed what I needed and we started with the foundations of good technique: posture, breath support and pacing, alignment, and resonance. He identified my proper voice type and assigned appropriate repertoire. For years it was assumed that I was some type of full lyric-quasi-coloratura soprano because I could sing high and fast. Nope. Dr. Hall identified the technical qualities of my voice, including the passagi, and made it very evident that I am a mezzo-soprano. What a relief! There is a reason that songs "fit" better when transposed down just a half- or whole-step! As I have aged, he has helped me to become aware of the increased weight and color in my voice and to adjust the perception of my technique as needed. He extensively researches repertoire and seeks out both mainstream and obscure works that match the needs and strengths of each student. As a dynamic performer himself, he provides guidance and feedback about artistic interpretation. His students represent all levels of singing, from novice to expert. A positive recommendation!

Great company and an even better instructor. Leigh Ann has done a great job teaching me the French language. She is very adaptable to my learning style, and she goes above and beyond to make sure I’m getting the most out of her lessons. I highly recommend going to the Language and Music House. It will improve your language skills and make you enthusiastic for all the possibilities of world travel.

Ms. Barbara is a very well organized and musically gifted instructor. In the 7 months that she has been giving my two boys piano lessons in Ovelrand Park, KS--I have been very happy with her instructions. They have drastically improved. She is quick to pick up your musical strengths and weaknesses to maximize your sessions. If we were not moving, I would keep her with my boys.

I am fifty-one and wanted to take a few guitar lessons. I was turn on to Jacob back in February of 2012 and go for thirty minute lessons once a week. I suppose there are hundreds of good teachers in the ares, but I think in Jacob I have found a good mix of what I need to know and what I want to know. In the short time that Jacob has been teaching me, I can now read music, know a little about theory, know enough chords to play hundreds of song! We spend a lot of time playing scales up and down the neck, this is called soloing. Its what you hear in most rock and blues with all the bends, hammer on, hammer off and slides. I take my lessons sometime with my acoustic and then my electric. I will never be able to play classical like Andres Segovia or shred like Slash, but with Jacobs help someday soon I will be able to play a ton of stuff. Each week he gives me more and more tools to help me to fulfill a dream I have had for as long as I can remember. Give Jacob a try and see if he's a good fit with what you want to accomplish. You may want to pay him just to play for you!
