Initially, I wanted Terry to just help me lost weight because it had gotten out of control for me. Terry has helped me understand what overall health means. He has developed customized meal plans as well as customized workout plans that not only help me lose weight but become healthier. I could not recommend him more highly to anyone that is seeking a personal trainer.

Sherry has been my personal trainer for three years and I credit her with all of my understanding of physical fitness. This ranges from the importance of weight training to proper nutrition. She holds you accountable for your own health so you understand that long term goals are driven by you with the best navigation by her. She's easy to talk to, open and understanding to all levels of fitness. I continue to better myself outside the gym because of her example and encouragement.

Daniel took me on as a client one year ago, and set a solid foundation that completely changed my life. Daniel taught me self-defense fundamentals that improved my confidence while pushing my health/fitness to a new level. Working one-on-one with him enabled me to have training tailored to my personal goals, which led into a Brazilian jiu jitsu obsession. I would recommend Daniel to ANYONE looking to push OR protect themselves physically.

Joel and his staff has your back... there is a huge difference between a fitness coach and a life/fitness coach. Fitness is what many people seek but you can’t get there without the right support in all areas. Experience and a holistic approach counts when your expectation is success. Stan Yarbrough, PhD

Short Review: A+ Awesome, Wedding Season Has Been Great I've lost 27 pounds since I began working out with Candice, and even though my initial goal coming into this was weight loss, no bridesmaid dress size or number on a scale compares to how great I physically feel. I'm stronger and healthier and less stressed now than I've been in the majority of my adult life, and it's a direct result of Candice's kickass workouts, nutritional guidance, and unwavering enthusiasm. The awesomeness of my experience cannot be overstated. 10/10 would recommend. Long Review: All the Praise GET READY I'd like to emphasize first how knowledgeable and current Candice is on all facets of fitness styles, nutrition, and wellness. The breadth of her expertise is substantiated and well-informed and 100% a defining factor in the results I've seen. I continuously trust (and am in awe of, honestly) her insight, and I have no doubt the rest of her clients would agree. Her personal training sessions are challenging and goal-oriented and Candice is constantly adjusting for best results. I've never done the same workout twice, and I look forward to sessions because I know it's going to be different every time. (Bonus: great music.) She’s extremely attentive to what is or isn’t working for you and keeps organized, in-depth notes on everything from changes in weights/counts/sets, to daily calorie/nutrition intake, to muscle/fat mass records. Being able to look back and see exactly where I was and what I was doing at any point throughout the process and compare it to where I am now is as motivating as it is satisfying. With all that said, though—the standout component that makes training with Candice so incomparable to others is the time, effort, and resources she wants to invest in you. You can see it in every tailored workout she puts together for you, every fitness/nutrition goal breakdown she writes up for you, and every time she goes above and beyond to provide extra insight on any wellness question, concern, or interest you might have—even when they’re not directly diet or exercise-related. I absently mentioned in a workout once how my sleeping schedule was terrible and probably stress-related, and that same day I received an email from her with lists of sleep/meditation apps, links to articles on sleeping patterns and the benefits of bedtime routines, and plenty of suggestions from personal experience to try out. She's done the same with recipes, protein sources, reverse dieting, skin care, and workouts outside of our sessions (I asked about half-marathon training once and she was happy to look into it for me, even when we both knew I hated running and probably wasn’t going to do it). And all *in addition* to the resources she already gives as part of her program. I came for the weight loss, but I stayed because Candice puts in the effort. She pays attention. She genuinely cares about your overall health and success, and she genuinely wants you to feel good about yourself. I couldn't recommend her more.

I hired Harry to write me a nutrition plan. Though he is a trainer, I work on my own program at the gym and did not want to change that. He took the time to look into what I was doing, was supportive, added a few pointers and then wrote me a nutrition plan. The nutrition plan is great- been following it a little over a week and I've lost more weight than expected PLUS my workouts are stronger than ever AND I have gone from needing 3 cups of coffee and 2 caffeine pills in the morning to one small cup of coffee. That alone is priceless. Plus the absence of processed sugar helps make my skin look better. The plan is great- he gave me some meal ideas, plus the macros so I could customize it, as well as a list of foods.... good thru bad. It's a very sustainable program, a good mix of carbs, fats and proteins, so I'm not eating 3 weird shakes a day, no carbs and only fish or anything weird like that. I look forward to all of my meals. I've done a lot of diets... paleo, low fat, primal, vegan, vegetarian, atkins, South Beach on and on and none have left me feeling this energized with such immediate results. And it feels like a long term solution. Usually 1 week on a diet has me wanting to eat whatever I can't have, but I don't even want the junk right now. Definitely give Harry a shot if you need a nutrition plan. Though I did not use him for training, he took the time to understand what I was doing, had respect for it and encouraged me to keep it up versus trying to sell me training. Going to bet he knows his stuff in the gym as well.

Mark arrived on time, was courteous and professional. He began by asking me my concerns, which are stress relief and shoulder pain. I felt completely at ease. He customized his treatment to address my issues. He gave me some pointers so I could manage my pain and stress. After his care I felt great. I have already booked his next visit.

I love working with Tara. I have a lot of health issues and she has created a program that helps me exercise even with my limitations. I am really surprised at all I can do. The workouts are helping me so much. Because of Tara I can tell what I am doing is making me stronger. In addition to my exercise, she has planned a diet for me to follow. She has suggestions of different foods to buy at the grocery store and everything is written down so I know exactly what I need to buy. I was not exercising on my own but with Tara I have encouragement and she knows the correct exercises that will help me. Also, now I am following her plan and exercising on my own in between my sessions with her. Judy Bentley

I started training with John when I was at a zero fitness level. I was afraid of trainers because I was really starting from square one and I didn’t want to be judged or pushed so hard I would give up. John has the perfect combination of knowledge, motivation and understanding for clients at all fitness levels. He was able to assess my level and my goals and slowly get me there. I am one who hates exercise but I looked forward to our sessions because I knew I was getting in better shape and taking care of my health but I enjoyed his company and he was motivating and supportive. Even on days when I felt I couldn’t do something he held me accountable and motivated me to push beyond what I thought I could do. He is fantastic at varying the workouts to keep things fresh and interesting. I highly recommend him as a trainer.

Professional service and caring and coaches. The service feels very premium and well thought out. There is a structured program in place and they will walk you through each step of the way. Jennie was very nice. She helped me through much of my eating habits as well as a couple personal problems. She was always willing to go that extra mile to make sure I was happy and feeling good by the end of every session. She provided me with the confidence to go exercise outside. She taught me to spend just a little bit more at the grocery store for beyond better quality food and drinks. Overall I have learned so much from my experience and would absolutely recommend this serve and Jennie Dawkins any day.

I had the pleasure of attending Lauren’s HIIT workouts and it left me feeling energized and ready to take on the day. I was a division 1 athlete and work out regularly, but her workouts gave me an awesome full body workout in half the time I spend at the gym. I walked away from our workout sweaty, tired but feeling great! Any opportunity I have to get in a HIIT session with her, I do!

I am a beginner, up in age, with many different health issues and I've always been searching to find the one thing that brings a balance and healing within. I stopped myself from trying yoga because of my state of health and being. But Don Byers has guided me carefully through each pose and sequence and breath without any complications. I CAN DO THIS😊 and more important my energy systems are waking up and I feel as though my mind, body and spirit becomes one during class🙏🏼 My ailments are improving greatly and I feel so balanced and at peace after class☺️ Everything in class can be implemented into every part of your daily life. Thank you Don for your guidance, instruction and patience. 🌱

I was looking for an experienced fitness coach to help me lose weight, become mentally sharp, and develop a new healthy lifestyle. I heard about Day22Fitness and how they offered workout plans customized around your schedule, tailored based on your current physical condition. So I called and spoke to Whitney and immediately I knew that I had found the right fitness coach! She asked me about my sleep habits, my diet, daily regiment, and my purpose for hiring a fitness coach. This assured me that she wasn't just in it for the money but really cared about a healthier me. My first session was informative and I received a wealth of education to last a lifetime. The session was affordable, challenging, and a while lot of fun! If you are looking for an energetic and inspiring fitness coach then look no further! Im planning on committing to the 21 day plan and becoming brand new on Day 22! Whitney you Rock! FH

My experience training with Samantha has been nothing short of awesome! I was completely clueless about how to get started with weights and resistance training and she has been a great (and patient) teacher! The benefits have been obvious and I have noticed that I feel much stronger and look more toned. She also offers nutrition coaching and helps me identify areas where I am holding myself back. All in all, she is awesome!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
