Todd responded within minutes to our request for help with a clogged drain. He came the same day, and even returned in the evening because of an added problem with the pipes. Completely took care of the problem. Very reasonable price and great person to work with. Highly recommend Todd.

Mr Rooter came through for us in a pinch, when another plumber cancelled on the same day of scheduled service without notification. We needed a kitchen faucet installed (new), a garbage disposal installed (new) and our drain pan changed from a double to a single for our new sink. The office contacted me almost immediately after posting our request for service, and had a plumber out to us in under an hour. Our plumber was courteous, straightforward and got the work done rather quickly. He even alerted me to an issue leftover from some work a contractor had done for us the day prior. He left the area clean and the installation looks really good all around. The cost was much higher than the quoted cost of the plumber who cancelled on us, but I believe now you get what you pay for, and what we were charged is more in line with normal fees for this type of plumbing work.

I had Larry to come out to fix a toilet that was continuously running and install washing machine drain pan few weeks ago. Things are working great, no issues. he also completed some additional minor things, changed shower heads and fix a tub spout. He was professional and efficient. Very pleased I chose him. Thanks!

Ryne came over and removed a broken stubborn bath tub drain and replaced it with a new one. I would recommend him and definitely higher him again. He was able to do the work on Memorial Day and even after it proved to be a bit more difficult job, he wasn't rushed and triple checked for any leaks before packing up and leaving. Very professional and courteous!

We had a drain that was cracked and causing water to back up next to our basement. Perry came out the day I posted the job on Thumbtack and talked me through the problem and various ways to solve it. The solution and price we landed on was very reasonable. He came back on the day he promised and completed the job. He then walked me through pictures he'd taken of his work before he buried the drain again. Overall, Perry came across as very thorough and trustworthy, and I would have zero hesitation seeking his help again.

Joseph has done 2 jobs so far for me at my house in Garner. The first was a repair of a major leak in the main water supply line between the meter and the house. He located the leak and they got it repaired and back in service quickly and at a reasonable cost. Then sometime later he repaired / replaced leaking valves on toilets that were silently wasting a lot of water by constantly dripping water into the drain system. I'm pleased with the work and the reasonable costs and will definitely use them for my next plumbing problem.

I am living in a 1950 home that needed upstairs bathroom repair for toilet and shower and water leakage onto the kitchen ceiling. Larry and Chaz delt calmly with everything from ceiling rejecting the new paint job to stopped up drains. There was much problem solving and working around oddities of this house. I was very comfortable with their plans and they kept me informed about progress. Over 1 1/2 weeks with also working around my family. They were also willing to do additional small things-as blow the leaves off my roof (awesome)--offered when a trip to the roof needed to be done due to the stopped up drain. A great experience all the way around. I have recommended this company to 3-4 of my friends

Anton did an outstanding job. He replaced some flooring that had gotten wet due to a clogged up HVAC drain. His pricing was fair, his work was well done, and I am now a happy individual. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and will consider him for any future home repairs.

Robert responded very quickly. He came out to do a plumbing job on a rental house and worked with the renters schedule. There were two issues that needed to be resolved; a slow drain in the tub and a drainage pipe from the washer that would not drain. Although he could only resolve the tub issue, he tried several options to see if he could get the washer drain pipe to work. He came out twice to work on it, but discovered that the pipe had collapsed down the line and it would have involved digging up the concrete slab in the house. This would involve major demolition of the flooring. The decision was to continue to use the makeshift draining solution of having the washer pipe drain into the sink. Robert did a good job considering the situation. He was very conscientious, and it was affordable. We will use him again for our plumbing needs in our rental and primary residence.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
