    Music Fun

    (3 reviews)

Experience and passion make my guitar lesson unique. My knowledge and variety of musical styles help me teach what the student wants to learn. Spreading the joy of music. To me, it is most rewarding to see the smile on a students face when they play a song that we have been working on for the first time. Watching students achieve their goals is an amazing feeling.

I have been teaching for 17 years and in that time I have taught ages 8 to adult, all skill levels. If you decide to take lessons with me you will be challenged on what you know as well being pushed to get outside of your comfort zone, if you have one, in order to help you grow. Along with that I hope to keep the lessons enjoyable and geared towards whatever goals you may and help you reach them in the most reasonable manner. I love teaching because it's great a thing to pass on knowledge to someone about something I feel deeply passionate about: music! I get great joy from watching my students grow, reach their goals and have fun in the process.

We believe in taking the student on a journey from where they are to where they have the potential to grow to. We are not interested in making replicas of ourselves but in truly developing our students to develop their instruments and take that to the highest level. Seeing the "ah-ha" moments when a student gets a breakthrough. That is exciting to any instructor. That means the student has connected to their instrument in a way that goes beyond teaching. That ignites passion.

I am fairly patient with my students. I try to motivate and challenge them, but yet I'm understanding of the fact that all students have different skill levels and therefore, move at a different pace. Not all students will grasp the same information right away, so there is a need for patience and empathy with their struggles and desires to play guitar. I am excited when someone enjoys playing as much as I do, and if they are as passionate about it, and learn new and exciting things. Sometimes certain students have mental or physical handicaps that hinder them, and it's important to approach them individually and give them patience and flexibility in teaching them. Meeting new and interesting people and watching them progress and succeed in meeting their goals with playing the guitar. It's exciting to see people finally break through and grasp a new skill or technique. Teaching and motivating students is an exciting part of what I do with the guitar lessons. I also take an individual interest in each student's development in their playing.

  • The Stuff Of Legends Guitar Course "From Zero to Virtuoso in 60 Lessons"

    (5 reviews)

Hi Robert here. As a guitar teacher for over 25 years, I've been able to reinvent myself over and over in terms of my skill set, enabling me to effectiively teach a wide variety of students of various musical tastes. I've now taken re-invention to a whole new level with introduction of my own course entitled "The Stuff of legends Guitar Method". I've also recently released a companion album entitled "Robert Bussey - The Stuff Of Legends", which you can hear at the music streaming service of your choice (iTunes, Spotify, Youtube, et. al.) The album itself is: 1- A musical retrospective of my own musical history and journey. 2- A tribute to the artists, bands and guitarists that have been my guiding light going back to my early childhood to the present day. 3.- A musical showcase encapsulating the elements of "The Stuff Of legends" guitar course. 4- A source of inspiration and motivation for the type of guitar skills students can hope to acquire by going through the "TSOL" lesson program. The primary goal of the TSOL course is that students might advance beyond the ability to play the guitar, and become living, breathing beings of musical expression equipped with a thorough understanding of the power of music presented in a methodology that is as easy to understand and execute as Ikea furniture directions. There are 8 pillars or facets to the TSOL Course which are 1- Chromaticism (The raw ingredients) 2- Melody 3- Harmony 4- Tension and Release 5- Timing 6 -Technique 7- Composition (Song construction) 8- Expression ( The special sauce that often occurs between the notes) The subtitle for my course is "From Zero to Virtuoso In 60 Lessons". I'm also working on a 7 and 8 string guitar edition and you can actually start from square 1 on 7 or 8 string rather than learning 6 string first!! Helping students become awesome guitarists in their chosen genre of music.

  • Rock U Studios, Inc. d.b.a. Rock University

    (2 reviews)

We offer one on one lessons for Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano/Keyboard, and vocal training. Our lessons are for all ages and all experience levels from the true beginner or the professional musician working on improving a skill. We partnered with Music 49's instructors and now offer all styles of lessons including rock, pop, country and gospel as well as classical. For students between 7 and 18 , we offer a band program to put those lessons to good use playing in a real band. The band program advances learning rapidly in a team environment and it is also a lot of fun. Summer Special Beginner Drum lessons four 30 minute lessons for only $75. Thursday Guitar Lessons Four 30 minute sessions for 75.00 I love everything about watching young students shine on stage. Even the most shy students come out of their shell after they get that first performance behind them! It's amazing. I also love the fellowship among the families of the music students. We have students who started at Rock U when we were new and have grown up, graduated and moved on to music degrees, music careers and successful bands. We love supporting local music of all types, but when a band who's member(s) came from Rock U makes it all the better.
