I’m writing this review with complete honesty and disappointment regarding my experience with Carolina Duct & Crawl. This company originally came out to inspect the home I currently rent, where I live with my children. I clearly explained to the inspector that I do not own the home, but that I’m the legal tenant living there and that we were dealing with serious health and safety concerns related to mold and moisture. Despite that, the inspector was understanding, respectful at first, and went as far as printing out a detailed report with photos and remediation recommendations to support my situation. He said all they needed was for the landlord to confirm the work, and then they would schedule the remediation. I later got word from my landlord that he did in fact confirm with the company — so the contractor’s statement that they didn’t know I was the tenant or didn’t get approval is a lie. They knew I didn’t own the house, and they still moved forward willingly until things changed behind the scenes. The remediation was scheduled for a specific date, and I arranged everything on my end — only for the contractor to call me at the exact time he was supposed to arrive to say his machine had “just broken that morning.” No advanced warning, no professional courtesy, no email, no backup plan. Just a last-minute call while I’m sitting there waiting with my kids in a home full of mold. When I followed up to ask about rescheduling and requested mold testing, I was suddenly told that they’re now “working with the homeowner” and that they can’t speak to me or make decisions anymore. Now, they act like they didn’t know I was the tenant, and they claim they’re “waiting to hear back from the owner” — even though they already got that confirmation days earlier. I’ve been left in the dark while my family continues to inhale mold, suffer health issues, and deal with confusion and broken promises. This company has now completely shut down communication with me, even though they were originally responsive and helpful — until my landlord got involved. This was unprofessional, unethical, and incredibly disappointing. If you are a renter or anyone dealing with a serious issue in your home, be very careful working with this company. They will drop communication and backpedal once they realize they’re dealing with a landlord behind the scenes. I now have to go to court over these issues, and this company’s actions (or lack of action) have made things worse, not better.
