Latest Review: I found Tree of Life Wellness Center through its retail storefront, Kindred Spirits. (More on their offerings, below). I was searching for an avenue to explore certain gifts and callings I'd always had, and buried, for most of my life. I'd visited the store itself and liked the crystals, books, herbs, etc, but didn't realize it was the tip of the iceberg as far as offerings from its owner, Antonina Whaples. She does not put on airs and, unless she wanted you to know, you could go a lifetime without realizing you were talking to a powerful, lineaged shaman and medicine woman. She looks like a pretty, stylish, 20-something young professional. All to say: you can feel comfortable no matter who you are when seeking her services. But don't underestimate. :)
I began by signing up for a psychic gifts class held after hours in the sacred space off the main store. Honestly I was nervous this would be like all the other avenues I tried in the past: stereotypical witchy-women only goth settings with velvet curtains, wiccan vernacular, and only candles for light. Because that's how *I* used to be!! And there's nothing wrong with that, however, here's the takeaway: I never had to try so hard. Psychic class was four women, led by Antonina, and we learned applicable techniques over the course of 3 hours. I was so impressed with how her teachings stayed with me that I began one on one sessions (at less than I'd pay most therapists). Antonina is not a Western medical doctor but she IS committed to being the catalyst for positive change, holding space as you discover your gifts and how to apply them in your life. She works with everyone from high end professionals to transient roamers to students, and with her own teachers as well. What I like the most is that Antonina will not come right out and tell you trite nonsense. Nor will she play new age-y mind games with you. She is there as a guide to help YOU make the discoveries.
A year and a half later, I am one of Antonina's shamanic apprentices. I still listen to punk music, work out in a gym, and have a day job. But I'm also learning Reiki, beekeeping, deepening my knowledge of herbalism (check out her herbal school!!), participating in ceremony, healing my PTSD, and most of all learning to trust in the "mysterious coincidences" which happen All the Time (you'll see what I mean!). When you sign up as a TOLWC student, you don't just get an hour or a class; you get someone who will do their best to be there for questions and will respect your boundaries as you respect hers.
Tree of Life Wellness Center has an extensive list of offerings including: personal healing and development sessions, Reiki classes for certification, doula services, crystal healing, shamanic work, ancestral healing, tarot, herbalism, Chinese medicine, psychic services, and year-round ceremonies open to the public for a reasonable fee.
P.S. If you made it this far in the review, I'll add that healing work is DEEP and designed to change your life, not act as a feel good band-aid. Antonina is a person you can break down and cry in front of without fear of judgement. I speak from experience. My life is so much better and more authentic now, proving that the rocky road can be a path to greatness. Like, she's not gonna tell you to never come back if yer bawlin'.
