  • Emrah's Piano and Saxophone Lessons

    (9 reviews)

I teach how to read music, play the instrument (piano and saxophone), have a good understanding of the music theory and history, harmony, (composition to whom is interested) and I talk about different musicians to help student to understand the subject which we are covering. My teaching style is not having a style because every person is different from others, so I almost build a unique style for each student, which depends on student's personality and musical goals. For beginning students who are children, I start with Alfred's piano books. For adults, I mostly use Alfred's adult piano course. I make sure that students have a songbook according to their interest and a technique book which is Hanon Virtuoso for adult students, Hanon Junior for teenagers and Schaum's Fingerpower for children. I had students wide variety of age (3 to 68), level, different background and professions which helped me over the years to be more comfortable to easily communicate with people who I work with.

I like to teach, to pass on my knowledge to other human beings, and see the results right away, often before the lesson is over, both following and leading the student individually in the direction, relevant to his abilities and aspirations. No matter the subject, the student's learning process brings about impressive results, joy and growth. I teach musical composition, music theory, classical piano, contemporary piano, improvisation, harmony, musical analyses, ear training and the art of sight reading. Learn from a world-class composer.

  • Hank Machuga

Hello, My name is Hank. I have successfully taught more than 90 students in the immediate area of Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Fair Lawn, Paramus, etc. References are available. What I offer: * Experience: With more than 18 years' experience, I've learned to help children overcome many obstacles they face during their lessons, while keeping it fun, interesting and energetic. * Flexible: Most lessons are taught during the after-school and early-evening hours. I know how tough the scheduling can be, and try my best to accommodate the changes that often come up. * The lessons:Reading and playing first and foremost (but, let's not forget that it needs to be fun and entertaining too). Soon after, music theory, improvisation, composition, and ear training are incorporated. Teaching a child to simply play without thoroughly understanding all that's involved with the music is not enough for most. You and/or your child have individual needs, strong points, etc. and customizing our lessons to fit them is an important dynamic of our work together. Children's songs and beginner pieces, classical, jazz, boogie are all covered. (Even some pop and rock and roll.) Each student has and develops their own musical taste. Eventually a preferred direction will come into focus which we will begin to lean towards as we progress. * Special needs: Having studied college-level psychology and music therapy, I have helped many children progress while facing the challenges of autism, ADD, ADHD, fine motor skill troubles, and more. * In your home: All lessons are in your home. Electric keyboards and electronic pianos are not a problem. Please feel free to call. Any questions are welcome. A parent's thoughts on our work together: "We brought Mr. Machuga into our children's circle of educators shortly after moving here from Chicago; he instantly became a member of our family here in Bergen Co." "He arrives to our home with a pleasant demeanor, and has a great sense of humor. Once he has ended the children's lessons, he gives us feedback on their progress and offers suggestions to ensure their continued progress." I am available in Bergen County, NJ.

  • We are offering guitar, bass, and piano lessons. I'm a firm believer in thoroughly covering all subject matter, including music theory and staff and chord chart reading. Being learned in acoustic, electric and bass guitar and piano instruction, I incorporate computer-aided teaching techniques to capture students' attention and maintain a database of student progress, supplementing reports with digital images of each student's technique. I've developed a chord-specific teaching methodology and created my own teaching curriculum. I offer points of motivation and obtainable objectives to encourage each student's growth and develop a teaching system for challenging, attention-deficit, and neurologically challenged students. I pride myself on providing clear instruction and developing well-thought-out lesson and practice plans. Learn all facets of musicianship while learning to play your favorite songs.

  • Piano and Trumpet Lessons by Joyce Toth

    (10 reviews)

Over the years, I've gained a reputation as a teacher who goes the extra mile to work with students who have difficulties with their music studies for whatever reason. I don't cut off the lesson right in the middle of a teaching point, but will continue until the point has been covered. I am constantly providing specialized arrangements for my students, music that is not published, or is only published at an inappropriate level for the student requesting it. I try to teach students how to practice, and tell them that my goal is to help them improve their skills to the point that they don't need my help anymore. I tell people my job is making kids smile. However, it's just as likely that they'll make me smile.
