I've been taking voice lessons with Dave for almost a year now, and it's one of the best decisions I've made. I've loved singing my entire life, but I've always felt like I wasn't good enough. It turns out I just needed to tweak my technique. I've definitely improved immensely over the past year, and others (including professional singers) have noticed and complimented me on it as well when I've sang at gigs. I've learned effective warm up techniques, how to control my voice, how my posture and mouth placement are important for my vocals as well, and so much more. He's also very encouraging and patient. I definitely wouldn't sound the way I do today without him. He's given me the confidence to look into performing more in this new year. I'm more motivated than ever to see where my voice can take me and very excited to continue working with him. I was also lucky enough to record a song with him and was able to see what an amazing producer he is as well! Anyone looking for a great, knowledgeable, experienced vocal instructor and producer; look no further! Dave's your man!
I have been taking voice lessons with Patrick Wickham for over two years. Not only is he a fantastic teacher but the school offers a very supportive environment and the opportunity to work with other teachers and sing in front of other people with Boot Camp and open mic nights.
David's awesome! very knowledgable , friendly and a truly inspiring teacher. Unfortunately, I don't have time to commit to voice lessons right now, but once I do I most certainly will call David!
When I was fifteen years old my father passed away after an extended battle with stomach cancer. After this I began writing words that people told me were lyrics, but I was no singer. I had a hero that was a singer, a heavy metal singer named Rob Halford, but the crazy notes he hit, and the incredible way he used his voice seemed unattainable to me. As I went through H.S. aided by my friends, a friend of mine named Elsa was taking voice lessons with a teacher in our town of Caldwell, and since she saw me in Choir, and knew of my love of music, suggested her teacher to me. I have been a heavy metal singer for 27 years now, and though I am not a famous person by any stretch of the imagination, nor do I sing in any way similar to Mr. Halford, I owe my longevity, my knowledge, and the respect of my peers to Rae De La Cretaz. Rae did not just teach me how to sing, she taught me how to connect my voice to myself, and considering the emotion that was collected inside me, once I learned how to do that, I was able to realize things about myself I never thought were possible. When I found her again through her online presence some 25 years later and I all the way across the country the only thing I could think to say was thank you. If you're looking for a voice teacher, she is the best, but if your looking for a way to connect your voice to your person, and who you are as a human being, if you look any further you are making a grave mistake. Mara is an incredible instructor. My voice lessons have been so comfortable and non judgemental, especially considering how awkward learning to sing can be early on. My voice was improving significantly after just a few lessons.
I appreciated Ms. Thomas' professionalism & gentle manner. She tuned into a voice issue I've had by hearing me speak. Voice lessons are very intimate & personal. Her easy manner & kindness made it easy to make sounds even not so pretty sounds! She also has a performance workshop once a month where you can bring a song or two. All types of voices, all levels, opera, pop, rock, musical comedy, work on vocal exercises & acting. It's an enjoyable, learning experience. I have a new found confidence. ( at an affordable price) Thumbtack is sort of like a blind date. You're not quite sure who you're meeting & if this will end up being someone who'll be in your life for a time or a 'one time thing'! This was a good match! Thank so much!!
Michelle is an amazing & wonderful teacher! She is animated and engaging and very knowledgable. My eight year old daughter takes piano as well as voice lessons from Michelle, and she really looks forward to their meetings every week! I highly recommend Michelle!!
Anette gave voice lessons to my 11 year old daughter. She was knowledgable, patient, and fun. She worked on songs that my daughter wanted to sing. She was understanding about school schedules. And it was great to be able to hear the entire lesson through dropbox.
Great teacher, makes you feel very comfortable. I would def recommend her to anyone looking to try voice lessons...
I absolutely loved taking voice lessons with Tim. When I showed up to my first lesson, I literally knew nothing about how to sing properly and probably had terrible technique, but it was immediately apparent to me that he was very knowledgeable. Each time I was having a problem with a song or vocal exercise, he somehow knew exactly what was going on and could explain clearly how to adjust it. What I appreciated the most was that any time I got the hang of something, he would make sure that I could feel how it was different from what I was doing before, so that I would be able to replicate it later. I was only in New York/able to take lessons for a few weeks, and I'm already starting to be able to adjust things for myself when they don't feel right or run through a few possible tricks to help with hard sections of songs. Plus, even aside from all that, every lesson was so much fun! I used to be so self-conscious about my voice and it could sometimes distract me from the joy of singing, but remarkably I never felt self-conscious at all during my lessons and it made it easy to find that joy again, and I'm so grateful to Tim for that. My voice lessons were the highlight of my time in New York, and I'd highly recommend this studio to anyone.
I only recently finished my first session with Victoria, but I can already tell that these lessons will be very fruitful in my singing development. She was helpful, insightful, and encouraging
I am truly excited to work with Justin after my first voice lesson today. It was reasonably priced and I believe I can reach my goals working with such a talented musician.
Melissa has helped me find my true voice. I never thought that I would grow and improve so much in the short amount of time that we have worked together. She has truly been an inspiration and I am thrilled that I have had the chance to take voice lessons with her.
Amazing vocal teacher! Nicky is a great vocal teacher who is kind and patient. She has been working with my 11 year daughter for about 3 years. Nicky makes the extra effort to use age appropriate songs and part of the lesson includes music theory. Win win! My daughter can’t commit to the practice time necessary with an instrument, so we went with vocal lessons with Nicky. With singing she can practice any time and anywhere. Nicky has been able to bring out some beautiful notes, making this mom very proud. Can’t beat the price - she comes to our home and is a very accommodating with our crazy schedule. Again she is an AMAZING vocal teacher!!
Genya is so much more than a voice teacher! She came into my life at a time when I had given up on my voice, feeling like I was too old and having struggled with throat issues to the point where I thought I had lost it forever. Genya gently and so brilliantly coached me back to the point where I not only felt confident, but she even made me reach a range I never even knew I had! She took a holistic approach that melted away all my fears and bad habits until I was REALLY finding my true voice! Only a few months after working with her, I recorded a CD and had one of my songs featured on a hit TV Show! Genya pulled that ability that was lying dormant out of my shell and truly saved my musical life! She is an amazing teacher, mentor and soul!
I could not have asked for a better experience than I had taking voice lessons with Rebecca for three consecutive years. With her help, I improved not only my voice but my confidence. When I started working with Rebecca my voice was barely trained and I had little control or knowledge over how I was using it. She worked with me week after week, giving me new songs that would test my limits and then show me techniques and strategies that would help my voice grow to the strength it would need for that song. I constantly found that a song would feel hard when she first gave it to me and then suddenly appear easier two or three weeks later because of how she was pushing me. It was Rebecca's genuine interest and faith in my voice that kept me going back to her for years, too. When I thought a note was too high to hit or a rhythm was impossible to figure out, she would gently insist that I would get it and then prove time and time again that I could. I owe my voice and my confidence to Rebecca and the incredible teacher, guide and role model that she is to her students.
Emanuela was truly the beat part of my party! Her voice and her sound added so much more value to my event and she is very professional and amazing to work with!! I also got many compliments from the attendants. I definitely recommend her and will hire her again.
Corinn has taught my two daughters (13 & 15) piano and voice for the past 3 years. She is the best teacher we have had and we are thrilled that she has moved with us, by sheer luck, from London to NJ! She is extremely reliable and conscientious and is a talented and patient teacher who challenges my girls as individuals and has helped improve their skills tremendously. They look forward to their lessons with Corinn and feel as very comfortable with her. She is a very talented singer and pianist and is passing on her love of music to our daughters. We feel very lucky to have her influence in their lives.
I have struggled for years to find a teacher who could tackle all my weaknesses and undo my bad habits. I have been singing for 20 years and found out that I was lacking technique in 2009! To hear that from a master teacher was really painful but it was a wake up call. So I kept looking for someone who could help me, really help me with my technique. Lisa was a God send (I just wish I met her sooner!). She was very quick to pick up on all my bad habits and help me not only work on them but communicate with me in a way that made sense to me to undo them. I have been through lots of voice teaches in the last 20 years and I can finally say Lisa has been one of the very few in all my years of singing who has really been able to make a difference in my singing. P.S. She's also extremely approachable, makes you feel like a pro but still will push you when you need it. And she's really funny!!!
I sang with Jessica three years ago in a concert. I was very impressed with her technique. When I heard that she was going to open a studio, I immediately called her and started lessons with her. This has been one of my best decisions. She is not only a fantastic singer, but she is very knowledgeable about vocal pedagogy. What is gratifying to me is that she has the ability to explain exactly what you are doing incorrectly, but can also explain to you how to correct it and makes it easier for you to sing a "pop song or a Verdi aria". You feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment and not frustration in your lesson. She is funny, smart and talented!
Those of you who have had voice lesson in the past know how hard it is to find a quality voice teacher. Someone who knows what they are talking about and know how to teach you what they know. Michael Kelly is one of those teachers.
