  • Violin, Viola & Piano Lessons

    (15 reviews)

I have trained through Trinity College, London, and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, as well as now getting my Master's degree in Music at Hunter College, New York. I'm flexible with lesson times: 30-, 45-, or 60-minute lessons. In my lessons you will work on fun stuff (the pieces you like and want to play) and also the exercises that will improve your technique and help you play better (kind of a "workout"). It really helps your playing overall to work on technique but I promise to not make it too boring! Many clients also ask if I can help them to rent or buy a violin or keyboard. I can definitely help with that and have done so for many clients already.

  • Private Voice Lessons & Beginning Piano

    (16 reviews)

I've sung at the Met for 13 years, and the New York City Opera for 24 years. My Bachelor's degree is from the Oberlin Conservatory and my Master's is from Westminster Choir College. I studied vocal technique with Shirlee Emmons, Dan Marek, Doris Cross and Lois Albright and coached with Eleanor Steber, Edwin MacArthur, Walter Taussig, and Douglas Stanton among others. At City Opera, I had the opportunity to work with Broadway directors and choreographers like Susan Stroman, Richard Jones, Artie Masella and Scott Ellis, so I'm as familiar with Musical Theater as I am with Opera. I teach using Bel Canto singing technique combined with voice science so that each student has a complete understanding of what they're doing and why they're doing it. Concentrating on RESONANCE brings about immediate improvement and my students hear the growth and enhanced beauty in their voices. I rarely accept voice students under the age of 12; unless circumstances are unusual. If you are practicing regularly and are not happy with what you hear on your recorder, leave your instructor, even if it's me!. Find someone who works for you. There is only one way for every human body to produce great resonance, no matter what style you wish to employ - Jazz, Classical, etc. A great singer and artist can sing everything. If you're interested in learning more, call me!

I offer private piano lessons in New York City and Manhattan. I am a piano teacher, and I have a studio in downtown Manhattan at Battery Park City. All ages and levels are welcome. Also, learn and master piano, guitar, dance, painting, and drums on DVDs. You can do finger exercises now on Your iPhone, iPad and iPod. This is great for children and useful for adults. I use finger, hand, forearm, arm and shoulder therapy and development exercise teaching method. I have been teaching piano for the past 10 years to all ages and all levels. The exercises for the fingers, hands, forearms, arms and shoulders were designed to help my students to succeed at the piano. They are the result of many years of observation of my students learning the instrument. I offer an ebook which is a teaching method and a comprehensive guide to finger, hand, forearm, arm and shoulder therapy and development for anyone interested in learning piano or any other musical instrument. You can use these exercises as warm ups before the actual piano lesson. These exercises are great for children and adults of all ages. There is no need to have an instrument in front of you to do them. This ebook offers illustrations of the exercises as well as links to tutorials which are designed to help you to do the exercises correctly. They are useful to any profession. Whether you are a secretary who does a lot of typing on a keyboard or you are a brain surgeon performing one of the most complex surgeries, you will find these exercises helpful because they improve agility, coordination and responsiveness of your fingers. No matter what task lies ahead, it's always nice to have finely tuned instruments (in this case the hands) to do it with. Refine your body and it'll be easier to get the results you are looking for. These exercises are great for anyone taking musical instrument lessons, teaching any musical instrument lessons, and for those who already playing and just looking for ways to add agility to their fingers, and perhaps find more rewarding way to approach an instrument. They are very useful to children to help them develop their hands properly. These exercises are also very useful to anyone who are misusing their hands in everyday activities. And here is the best part: in reality they are useful to everyone because they stimulate one of the largest portions of your brain which is devoted to operating your upper limbs. So, the end result from doing these exercises is you not only going to have healthy and agile hands and fingers, but you are also going to be stimulating your brain activities; therefore, you'll be getting more intelligent. And here is the bonus: You do not need to buy any hand strengthening tools to train your muscles. Your brain will do the work for free. The knowledge is yours; take it! The arrangement of bones and muscles in the body is a marvel of engineering. Your hand alone has 27 bones. Under my instruction, you will learn how to use your hands, fingers, elbows, forearms, arms, shoulders and body weight correctly that will give your music a fluid and pleasing sound, and you'll do it effortlessly regardless of how simple or complex the piano piece may be. • Affordable Music Lessons

My goal as an experienced music teacher is to give you and your family the skills and tools that you need to enjoy music for the rest of your lives. Though I make my livelihood through music, I understand that most of my students aren’t going to pursue music as a career. And though some of my students go on to study music in college, I’m not preparing them for their Julliard auditions. What I do is teach my students a well-rounded fundamental curriculum in the instruments that I teach – piano, guitar, and bass. I also gradually teach my students how to practice and how to advance by themselves. I help them develop confidence, a solid technique, vision, concentration, and help them enjoy the process of learning and advancing. Teach a student one song, and the student will know one song. Teach a student a good technique, how to read, practice, listen, and set goals, and his or her pursuit and enjoyment of music knows no bounds.

AR Piano Workshop

What do you love about your job?

What I love about my job is knowing that I have the opportunity to grow as an individual and that I am an influence to my peers, family, and friends. I enjoy being able to really see what life is about. Doing what you love isn't all sunny days, but my job is just like any other job. There are good weeks and bad weeks. However, loving what I do drives me to find solutions to problems and adjust to every situation. I wake up everyday defending my passion.

Who inspired you to start your own business?

The inspiration is my passion. From there, I was inspired by people who were doing what I do, but in their own field. The common factor of self-employed people is the love we have for what we do.
