"I had a wonderful photo shoot with my son for his 1st birthday/cake smash. Giorgio was amazing with my son, he took his time, was funny and a joy to work with. "I had never had a personal trainer before and was always intimidated by the thought of having a one-on-one workout with a stranger. Around the new year I was desperate for a new workout routine and complaining all the time that I didn't feel motivated. My boyfriend surprised me with personal training sessions with Marta. He did all the research before selecting her; yelp, online reviews, trainer information and absolutely nailed it. Marta is as kind and sweet as she appears in her picture. Not only is she pleasant to be around, she knows her stuff and is extremely professional. I trust her judgement when it comes to our workouts, I never feel like I am being pushed to hard, will injure myself or "bulk up" (most women's worst nightmare!). It didn't take long at all for me to notice the difference in my body after working with her. My arms are more toned and I feel stronger. I've even noticed more definition in my abs. She is extremely knowledgeable and keeps the workouts, diverse, engaging and most important, enjoyable :) I highly recommend her if you are trying to get in shape and or stay in shape!"

"I was training with Iosif since June 2016 (more than a year) - and I really value this relationship. Iosif is a very experienced trainer. He is the true professional in the best meaning of this word. Over this time I made a lot of progress, lost weight, gained muscle, became much more flexible. I stay differently. I move differently. I feel differently. When I travel, I miss our training sessions. I really feel better when I train with Iosif regularly (2-3 times per week). What I like about Iosif is how he customizes the training sessions based on my current state. It is amazing how a small change to an exercise or a stretch can completely change its difficultly level. Also it is quite amazing how Iosif can make effective workouts with minimum set of tools (or even without any equipment)."

"When I was in High School Steve's personal training sessions helped me get in great condition for wrestling, football and baseball in ways that my coaches and the trainers did not. I packed on 20 lbs. of muscle while increasing my speed, agility flexibility and stamina. He introduced me to a wide range of modalities from metabolic conditioning ,TRX, visual training techniques and taught me how to eat better also. "I've trained with countless personal trainers out in NJ, VA, and here in NYC from private gyms (90 Second fitness) to public gyms ( Equinox, NYSC, LA fitness, Balleys, Mid City, MPHC, and Synergy) specifically for sprinting, fat loss, proper technique, and for other miscellaneous goals so I feel confident in my following assessment of Emmanuel George (a.k.a. Manny). I've attended approximately 10 private training lessons with Manny so far and found his style both enjoyable in terms of keeping the mood upbeat and feeling positive, while still providing a supremely intense work out along with solid technical and engaging feedback that would improve my workout and performance. I'm a stickler for proper posture and technique so I found it refreshing to see that Manny knew his stuff. I also appreciate the fact that he is extremely punctual, flexible, and accommodating with his scheduling. Manny has trained me at my gym, at his private gym, and even Central Park. And so far, he has arrived on time, with an infecting cheerful spirit, and prepared with all the equipment and with a mapped out workout plan already in mind. I really dislike it when other trainers just 'wing it' on the spot; fortunately for me, Manny shows much more initiative than that. Manny is one of the most patient, well-trained, highly skilled, reliable, and experienced personal trainers in the NYC Area. Not only does he offer extremely competitive rates and packages, but he is also extremely knowledgeable with mixed martial arts, free weights, and calisthenics. My initial goal when first starting with Manny was to just get back on a regular workout routine. However, I've already noticed substantial muscle gain, toner body, fat loss, and a much stronger core. Whatever Manny's workouts are doing for my body, it's definately working. As aforementioned, I've taken privates and group classes elsewhere, but they pale in comparison to Manny. He carries a commendable etiquette and professional and a great personality; he doesn't rush or blaze through the techniques and session with frustration and ignorance as others have with me. He even offers to take your body fat and mass stats and a diet plan. So all in all, I highly recommend seeing Manny whether you are an absolute beginner new to working out or an avid athlete with targeted goals. Keep up the good work Emmanuel! Best, SC."

"I have been working with John for over a year and a half now and have been amazed and very pleased with the results achieved every step of the way.  My most recent goal was to lose some weight, get rid of the nagging fat around by abdomen and thigh area and be able to achieve an overall sculpted/muscular physique in the process.  As I was approaching the age of 50, I wondered if it was ever possible to achieve these goals, especially to be able to build muscle at this stage in my life.   With his positive approach, John has been working twice a week with me consistently on a great strength training program coupled with an appropriate effective meal plan. Through his strength training program, I’ve learned about specific exercises used to target different muscle groups using proper form, increased intensities and repetitions.  John has always been encouraging in pushing me to do more than I realize I can, even when I whine.  He always seems to know how much you can really do and is really genuinely interested in helping you to succeed as you progress every step of the way.  I even managed to dead lift up to 200 pounds.  Wow, I never imagined I’d ever be able to do that! One thing that has really impressed me about John is his deep understanding on the physiology of the human body from body building, effects of injuries, metabolism, hormones, fat burning capabilities, effects of food and environmental factors on the body and much more. It’s nice to know that you can ask him anything and get a detailed full answer from him.  It’s not all about just how to do exercises, there is more involved in achieving overall health and fitness and John can certainly educate you on that. John is a true Professional and Master in his field. As of now I lost all the weight I wanted to lose/decreased my body fat, achieved my desired sculpted look through obvious definition to my waist/abdomen, back, arms,  glutes, and legs. I’ve learn how to eat better and healthier foods. Now 50, I look fit, feel stronger and more energized than ever. Is kickboxing hard?

Kickboxing is as intense a workout as you want it to be. As with any fitness regimen, the more effort you put in, the more results you will get. The type of kickboxing you do will determine how physically challenging it is. Combat or self-defense kickboxing, where you train in a martial arts studio with sandbags or spar against combat partners, can be an intense physical workout. Group kickboxing classes that use sandbags as part of the workout will also elevate the degree of intensity, because of the level of exertion punching and kicking the bag requires. Cardio kickboxing group fitness, which employ kicking and punching moves but no sandbags, has comparable intensity to jogging but works a wider range of muscles while increasing strength, flexibility and coordination. Here are some of the core kickboxing moves:

  • Cross: A straight punch that you throw slightly across your body, using your dominant hand.
  • Jab: A quick, straight, face punch. Usually thrown with the non-dominant hand.
  • Uppercut: A punch thrown up from the midsection (using either hand) that connects with the underside of your opponent’s chin.
  • Hook: A curved punch (using either hand) that connects with your competitor’s jaw or chin.
  • Side kick: A kick delivered when your competitor is at an angle to you. Raise your leg to the side, then bend at the knee to deliver the kick.
  • Front kick: A kick delivered straight on while you are facing your opponent.
  • Roundhouse kick: A kick delivered by swinging a leg up in a clockwise or counterclockwise motion (depending on which leg you’re using) with momentum to strike the opponent with the instep of the foot.

What should you wear to kickboxing?

What you wear to kickboxing can vary based on the setting. For kickboxing group fitness classes that are part of a gym’s cardio class schedule, standard fitness attire is appropriate. Athletic sneakers, pants or shorts that you can comfortably kick in without getting tangled or flashing anyone, and a top that allows for easy movement when punching and jabbing are all good choices. You won’t need protective gear or gloves, as most cardio-based kickboxing classes do not use punching bags.

Kickboxing training that takes place at a martial arts studio typically requires protective gear. You may need boxing gloves (beginners may want 12-ounce or heavier gloves for more cushioning) and hand wraps that protect and support your hands under the gloves while you punch the bag. If your kickboxing training includes sparring with opponents, you’ll need a mouthguard and any protective head and body gear your studio requires. Always be sure to bring plenty of water, too.

What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.

What do you need for kickboxing?

What you need to bring to kickboxing depends on where you are working out and what your goals are. For a gym or fitness club’s cardio-based group kickboxing class that does not use punching bags, you generally need only appropriate workout gear and enough water. For kickboxers who are training in a martial arts studio, working one-on-one with a trainer toward a specific goal or sparring with competitors, you will need your own boxing gloves (12- to 16-ounce gloves provide more protection for beginners) and hand wraps (to protect and support your hands under the gloves, as well as keep them dry). How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is.
