Eugene’s Music Studio is one of the most professional & kind music studios we had the honor to work with. My son is so excited and cannot wait for his piano lessons. The teacher was able to keep him busy and involved throughout the entire session (not an easy task) and she always comes up with new ways for him to stay involved. We are very happy that we found Eugene's Music Studio. Eugene was very attuned and helped us find the best fit for our child and we look forward to seeing the progress he will make with time.

Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.

Sharon makes piano lessons fun and always seems to know the right balance between strictness and light hearted fun. My favorite song was Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata, where Sharon made fun of and helped correct my slouchy posture and also helped with putting more emotion into the piece. I am pretty lazy with practice, but Sharon is very flexible and can always find something to improve even when I don't get a chance to practice.

Daniel is a dedicated teacher with years of experience. He taylors his teaching style to fit the needs and goals of the student. I went to Daniel with minimal cello experience and within weeks I had felt that I had a better understanding of the instrument, by learning how to train my ear, and build up muscles in my hands. He gives clear direction for practicing at home and teaches you how to teach yourself, while forming good habits. I look forward to this year of learning under Mr. Frankhuizen, and to my weekly lessons!

I absolutely love my cello lessons with Sarah. I started taking lessons from Sarah after many years without them. She has helped me overcome bad habits, play pieces I couldn’t get through anymore, and I’m so grateful that I can enjoy my cello again. I plan on continuing lessons with Sarah and am so glad I found her.

Joann Whang is an enthusiastic and experienced Cellist and Cello teacher. She has mastered the application of the Suzuki Method with precision and the “teaching with love” philosophy. Joann is not only a good teacher, but is a thoughtful artist who has kept my budding musician engaged and focused on his passion. Our family highly recomends the talented “Miss Jo”!

Julia is an absolutely wonderful teacher. I’m an adult student, and I looked long and hard for a teacher who would be right for me. After nearly a year of false-starts I found Julia. She is a gifted musician who’s passionate about the cello and patient with a beginner like me. When I play a scale or a song, she can identify exactly what I need do to enhance my tone. Her pedagogical approach combines a keen, intuitive sense and a wide breadth of knowledge. In short, Julia is stellar and it’s a joy to be her student.

          About

I love working with others! Collaborating with others in a learning environment teaches both people!

          About

I'm a private lesson instructor to help people improve their music skill, and I want to see students learn the beauty of music more than they can on their own. For me, music is all about sharing, love and joy. It's one of the most beautiful things in the world can inspire and enrich your life.

          About

I am young and energetic, and truly interested in the progress of students. I learn a lot from teaching, and I really enjoy watching students grow.

          About

I am a first-year college student from The Juilliard School. Unlike other students, since I have been led to some wrong places and I tried so hard to correct them with time, I know every single thing that makes performance better and easier. My job is to teach students on how to use their limited time to improve their techniques or music with my 14 years of experience in practicing and performance. Since this is my first time of official teaching, and I came from China, I love to give everyone first lesson for free.

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

          How much are cello lessons?

Cello lessons are a great way to anchor and guide your cello practice, regardless of your skill level. From top symphony performers to first-time music students in elementary school, cello lessons correct your flaws and help your strengths shine. The cost of cello lessons will vary, depending on the reputation and experience of your teacher, the length and frequency of your lessons, and where you live. Students who have regularly scheduled lessons and pay in advance often pay less per lesson than drop-in students who schedule lessons as needed. Here are some examples of average cello lesson costs:

          • 30-minute cello lesson: $30, when a minimum of 4 lessons per month are pre-paid.
            • Cost for drop-in lesson: $35.
          • 45-minute cello lesson: $35, when a minimum of 4 lessons per month are pre-paid.
            • Cost for drop-in lesson: $40-$45.
          • 60-minute cello lesson: $40, when a minimum of 4 lessons per month are pre-paid.
            • Cost for drop-in lesson: $50-$55.

How hard is it to learn to play the cello?

Taking cello lessons can be a rewarding experience for students young and old. The rich sound of the cello is well-loved in classical music and is found in all genres of contemporary music from modern folk to rock. As with any instrument, how hard it is to learn to play cello depends on the practice and dedication you put into it. It’s true that some people are naturally more adept at learning instruments than others, but with lessons and a daily commitment, you too can learn to play the cello.

Cello lessons can be a smart investment, especially for new players. Even professional cellists benefit greatly from ongoing training, but for those new to cello it’s especially important for forming a strong foundation for playing. From the proper posture to understanding finger positions, regular cello lessons give you a benchmark to measure your daily practice against. With a professional cello teacher guiding you, the sky’s the limit.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
