We discovered Bacco nearly 4 years ago and have called on Chef Lauren and her exceptional team for all of our catered events ever since. Imagine the best service you have ever had at your favorite restaurant - this is what Bacco consistently delivers, custom fit for your event. Once you've decided on the details (truly, this is the toughest part with so many mouth watering options to choose from), you don't have to worry about anything. They show up when they say, are diligently prepared and deliver beyond what was promised. I am not easy to please and my guests have all sorts of dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy, shellfish, you name it) but with Bacco I rest easy and can truly enjoy my event. They have everything covered and are wonderfully autonomous. My guests rave about the delicious food every time, I have peace of mind throughout and at the end of the night, Bacco leaves my kitchen even cleaner than they found it. You cannot ask for a better experience with a more professional, efficient and pleasant crew. We use them for all our events and will gladly continue to do so.
Tamara did a wonderful job on our in-home cocktail party for around 20 guests. The first telephone call gave me a fantastic impression of what it would be like to work with Tamara and she delivered on all fronts, in the run up to the event and during it. Highlights: 1. Open minded and collaborative on our menu. Tamara built a themed menu targeted to the reason for our event. 2. Warm and cheerful, positive and flexible at all times. 3. Delicious, delicious food including a special vegan/gluten free option for one guest. 4. Came through last-minute when we realized we needed a table (on the day). 5. Competitive pricing.
Every year, our family gets together from SF, NYC and Austin TX. Recently, we elected to source a chef to help facilitate our big saturday night evening. One this night, there are 20 people under the roof and two dogs. Chef Dan and his fiance were superb. As anyone w a large family can attest, there are usually last-second snags. Chef Dan accomodated these schedule adjustments in stride. He arrived on time (early actually). He quickly surveyed the scene and was super accomodating of the toddlers running around complicating his efforts. He took it in stride and even played with the little ones. The food was outstanding. We have many unique diets in the family and Chef Dan accomodated all of them. When the gluten-free macnchhese hit the table, my niece shrieked in joy. I didnt ask Chef Dan for gluten free macncheese, he took the initiative based on our discussions prior to the event. On that note, Chef Dan was very easy to get a hold of prior to the event. Back to the food which was on point: the food was great! My family has picky eaters and there were no bad reviews. Id be happy to highlight the dishes we selected if requested. The scallops were seared to perfection and the lamb chops were spot on. Lastly, we didnt have to lift a finger. The service was on point.
From start to finish, working with Adolfo was reassuring, engaging, and fun. After describing what I wanted – healthy appetizers and noshes in a public park for 30, 40, or 50 people, he sent photos of exactly what I wound up ordering, after my cousins and I studied his menu in detail, inside and out. He had me at those photos – the skewers with rich-colored dressings and edible orchids, mini-sandwiches framed in fragrant Rosemary, delicate looking shrimp rolls, the bright crudité platter not only looked gorgeous, but everyone raved at how fresh and delicious it all was. Adolfo simply made me look good – best afternoon meal I never cooked. After seeing those photos it was easy to pick a table cloths – white – his platters did all the talking. To compliment the apps, he provided a lovely selection of soft drinks – juices, iced tea, lemonade, sparkling and plain water – chilled on arrival. As my number of guests increased, he suggested what I might want to add and what to stay away from. I greatly appreciated the benefit of his experience. I am terrible at making decisions. Adolfo never pushed me, but when I asked for his suggestion, he gave it, for which I was so grateful. Dealing with me is not easy – stressed, perfectionist, indecisive on a good day, much less as the date of this difficult event drew closer. But he hung in there, editing our contract as the order changed, editing anything I suggested. He was quick to reply, and welcomed me to call, text or email with questions. On the day of the event he was there right on time, with a text in advance to let me know he was on his way. This was just supposed to be a “drop off” but he spent a lot of time with us setting up, including tips on how to make the table look all the more beautiful, with platters arranged at different heights, using the nice packaging in which he delivered them. The trays he uses are beautiful, as are the matching tongs and spoons. He made our afternoon “snack” in a NYC public park absolutely elegant. He even posted little signs in front of each of the platters describing ingredients – something every vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, paleo, kosher foodie would surely appreciate. Anyone who is investing in catering is concerned about making a nice gathering. My guest count ultimately grew to 80, and he didn’t flinch – whether 35 or 80 he showed me the same patience, and I went into the event feeling confident about the food. I was delighted that it looked and tasted as beautiful and delicious as the photos indicated. I highly recommend Adolfo. He approached my gathering with a fun, exciting, and very respectful spirit, making me feel like I was his only customer, though I knew he had others this past springtime Saturday. My guests all commented on the lovely food and drink and its presentation. My thanks and gratitude to Adolfo and everyone at Manjar for exceeding my expectations.
Erika cooked for our 11-person bachelorette party dinner and it was a complete delight! She really listened to all of our ideas when pulling together the menu, was quick to respond, and was a really nice presence at the dinner. We had gluten free and vegetarian restrictions, but you'd never know it! The food was amazing - and I'll be thinking of her almond cake until we work with her again! Thanks, Erika!

Working with Chef Martin was wonderful! Finding him was our first foray into Thumbtack - and it turned out marvelously! Having read the MANY 5-star reviews for Chef Martin/Mirabell Catering we were dubious... could he be THAT good? The answer is a resounding yes! We needed a caterer for an entirely gluten-free 4-hour open house for roughly 70 people - kids and adults. Chef Martin was swift in his response to our request for a caterer. He articulated a clear understanding of the menu needs, and how to avoid cross contamination - a BIG deal when you have celiac disease and have to live gluten free. He developed a menu offering a wide array of finger foods at a very reasonable price. By phone, we found him to be a gentleman - a rarity these days. He was professional and organized, calm and cool, affable and charming. (I had a feeling that our friends would want to hang out in the kitchen with Chef Martin and I was right!) Chef Martin arrived promptly and brought everything he needed. As he settled in - even putting us at ease as we hurried to finish readying for our guests - his waitstaff person arrived. From there, Chef Martin turned out hours of incredibly tasty, plentiful, finger food for a large and hungry crowd. Truly, everyone raved about the food throughout the party and after. And Chef Martin WAS as charming in person as he had been by phone. The kitchen was packed! Now here is the totally unexpected thing that happened with Chef Martin: whenever I walked through the kitchen in need of something, before I could say much of anything at all, it would be taken care of or I'd find what I had come in search of in my hand. Chef Martin knows events! His presence just made everything easier. I hope we will have the pleasure of working with him again. My husband and I are proud to say that we have held some great parties, but we enjoyed this party in our home more than any other. It was delightful to spend time with our guests - and to eat! It was a joy to not worry about the cooking or having to hustle about cleaning up throughout or face a terrible mess after. Chef Martin and his gracious and professional staff made our holiday open house easy for us, and a marvelously memorable event for our guests. If you need a personal chef/ caterer, Chef Martin is the man you want.
We had a wonderful time at our group cooking class at La Pulperia. Chef Carlos and his team were so gracious (accommodating of food allergies) and the food was delicious - empanadas, salmon tartar, guacamole and ricotta gnocchi (which we learned how to make). We enjoyed making one of their signature cocktails and sipped wine (and tequila). Thanks to Chef Carlos and everyone at La Pulperia for such a fun and unique time. Completely hassle free, gourmet service. Peter treats clients and their events with such love. Could not be happier with the value and amazing food that was served at our event. Just perfect.
Tara catered an important birthday dinner for my mother-in-law and it was a night we'll never forget! From the very beginning she was flexible with our weird restrictions (gluten free, nut free and pescatarian) and gave us several creative options to choose from. We all raved about every course. The salad was bright and fresh, the appetizer (octopus) was perfectly cooked when so often restaurants overcook it, the main dish was so flavorful and the flourless chocolate cake was sinfully delicious. There were 9 adults and one toddler and everyone left so happy. Tara and Kelley were so sweet throughout the whole afternoon. Talking us through the process, explaining the courses and then left the kitchen spotless. I would highly recommend them for any special dinner (or even just a night you don't feel like cooking!) It was a perfect evening.
via Melissa, or "Chef Melissa" as we call her, exceeded our expectations! We took her from her usual route of healthy food and asked her to run a cooking class so that children with Celiac Disease could make and enjoy cupcakes on the morning of Super Bowl Sunday. She was really flexible and provided what felt and looked like "regular" cupcakes but modified for strict gluten-free compliance and somehow they were a little healthy too! All natural. even organic and dairy-free where possible. The ages of children who attended ranged from 4-12 and she worked really well with everyone! She set up before we (event organizers) arrived and had a friendly helper with her. They were professional but the kids related to them very well. The parents were all pleased and her rate was really reasonable! Our support group doesn't make any money from events like this, parents paid her directly and she was accepting last-minute additions without any worries. I can't think of a single negative - in fact we'd like to work with her again this year! Oh, and she even took the work of finding a location away from us (we're 2 volunteers who run this group for our children and others). Next class, we'll go a little healthier and really take advantage of ALL that via Melissa has to offer our kids! :) Oh, and she's even sending us kid-friendly, healthy and gluten-free recipes for us to share with the families in our group! She really goes above and beyond!
OpenSkies Hospitality hosted my bridal shower and made it a truly amazing experience! The food and service were high quality and Chef Albert did a great job! He was extremely responsive and accommodating! All of my guests couldn't get over how delicious the food was and how attentive the service was. I can't even begin to express how much Platter Matters Catering was the logistical backbone of our corporate event. They are definitely NOT just another vendor but a partner and consultant to plan and execute your perfect event. They were willing to make special substitutions to fit our preferences and even shared some fun creative ideas for us. The food was simply delicious; it tasted as if made with love and pride. Our guests appreciated the attention to any serious food allergies. All staff was amazing, and Ivett (owner) was a fantastic resource and helped immensely with the planning process, logistics, and answered my questions at all hours of the day. We absolutely LOVED everything about our experience with Outlaw BBQ as they catered our wedding. They went above and beyond when it came to feeding our guests and everything was absolutely delicious. They even made a tray of gluten free macaroni and cheese for us based on just us asking which of our dishes were gluten free for one of our guests, and she nearly cried with excitement--she hadn't had mac and cheese in years. Communicating with Rob was always easy and swift too. The catering they provided definitely was one of the major factors in our wedding celebration being a huge success. AND THE HAWAIIAN MEATBALLS!!! If all I ever ate again was their barbecue chicken, meatballs, and macaroni and cheese I would be happy. They brought their smoker on site and our guests could smell the delicious barbecue before our ceremony even started. We can't recommend Outlaw BBQ enough!!!
