If you have a heating/cooling or home maintenance problem, don't look any further. Call Tony. When I contacted Tony about my broken refrigerator he was very polite. He showed up on time, diagnosed the problem quickly, explained what he was doing as he went, and even gave suggestions as to how I could improve my appliance's performance. I know who I'll be calling the next time I have a home maintenance issue. Thanks Tony!

Installed cooktop and double wall oven. He had his hands full as neither fit thanks to the appliance giant and their terrible measuring. He had to cut into my counter top to make it work and still he has to come back to lift up my oven so there are no gaps. He knows his stuff. Fair price.

James was prompt to respond to my estimate request and met me for an onsite appointment within a few days. He explained in detail everything that needed to happen to safely disconnect our plumbing and to demolish our old kitchen. James gave me peace of mind and a competitive quote and we felt very comfortable hiring him. On the day, James and Vincent arrived on time and quickly and cleanly removed our old kitchen cabinets, tiles and appliances. They were careful not to damage our existing walls to minimize patching and removed all debris from the site. James disconnected our appliances, ensuring our plumbing and electrical connections were left in a safe state. He dropped in for a follow up visit a few days later to check on a leaky valve and provided some great advice. I highly recommend James' plumbing & demolition services!

Mr. Resnick promptly called after sending him a message. Was willing to come out the same day but I was not home. He came the next day. When he called to say he was at my home, I told him that someone was there to let him in and that I was literally 3 mins away. Little to behold he was done by the time I got home. Very reasonable price for what he had done in 3 mins. I will use Mr. Resnick’s services again and recommend him to family and friends.

I needed my refrigerator repaired. I got a quote from P&T Appliance Repair. The manager called to confirm that the men were on the way. She was very polite and professional. Two men promptly showed up. They were courteous enough the take their shoes off before entering my house. They were extremely professional. A job they estimated would take 90 minutes took longer. They worked past their closing time without complaining and did not charge me anymore than they quoted. They cleaned up their workspace and made sure I examined their work before I paid them. I would definitely recommend them to other people and use them again if I ever need any repairs done. If you are in need of repairs, this is the company to call!

i went thru several appliance repair companies to get a new ice maker put in my new but past warrantied fridge, the guys either didn't show up, were rude, or put in a bad/not new device. finally decided to find a guy on my own, bernhard was prompt, courteous, professional, experienced, and did a great job. i've finally had ice for a few months running now.

they arrived on time as scheduled, conducted a thorough inspection of my fridge/freezer that wasn't staying down to temperature, clear understanding and explanation of the likely problem and solution, direct quote before undertaking the work so i knew what i'd be facing, took care to avoid scratching my floors, and cleaned up afterwards, and the price was fairly reasonable. would definitely recommend them for home appliance repairs.

The Technician (Robert) was not only Professional and Knowledgeable, but he took the time to explain what caused my heating issues and what he was going to do to remedy my problem was second to none. He was the 3rd different Technician that was called to handle my situation, and not once did he ever say anything negative about the prior Technicians, but what he did was ensured me that my problem would be fixed. I thank you for your caring and commitment to ensuring that my family needs would be met by fixing my Heating system during this frigid winter. I WILL not use anyone else if I need any work done in your areas of expertise. 10 Thumbs Up for Rob at NexTech Heating, Cooling and Appliance Repairs. Cecelia

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
