Ainna is a very sensitive teacher who caters each lesson to your needs. I was very hesitant and shy about taking lessons and after just the first one that feeling completely vanished. She completely changed my preconceived notions about taking lessons! Each one was serious and challenging but we also laughed and had fun. At the end of each lesson I found myself each time so happy that I had just had one. The words and phrases I learned have stuck with me. She will use books, visual props around your room and personalize each lesson for you. She also switches between different themes during each lesson so that you never get bored. I took lessons with her in my home and each and every time she came over I very much looked forward to it, especially after speaking to colleagues of mine who were also taking French lessons but never described them as 'fun' and 'exciting' like I described mine. I highly, highly recommend Ainna.

Beatrice was great. I contacted her regarding french lessons and she exceeded my expectations. The lesson was extremely helpful right from the start. We sat down and outlined the areas I wanted to work on and where I needed improvement on. I relayed to Beatrice that I wanted to further my conversational skills due to my frequent traveling to France. She challenged me to conduct the rest of our lesson in french which i really appreciated. We then eased into pronunciations and sentence phrasing. Beatrice is extremely nice and helpful when I was stuck on a particular issue. The whole lesson was uniquely structured around my needs and skill level and explained in a way I could understand. I have tried many french teachers before but none were as helpful and as nice as Beatrice. Highly recommended!

Romina is very professional, patient, and effective. She is thorough and creative in explaining difficult concepts and is able to make the content interesting and tangible. As a native speaker she has an extreme knowledge of the Spanish language and a proficient command of its grammar and vocabulary. She listens to your needs and tailors the session to meet your goals. Romina arrives prepared and takes control of the lesson while ensuring a positive and productive experience. She's patient and has great sense of humor. She's truly a phenomenal teacher!

I had her as a tutor, and she really helped me understand the math I was having trouble with. I saw her every week for 3 months. She explained what was really happening, which helped because I used to forget the order of steps a lot.

Monique has been working with my language program since February 2018! She had great reviews prior to working with me and I can’t say anything negative about her. She’s very professional and creative. She not missed any of our classes! Couldn’t ask for a better French instructor

Jackie is a wonderful French teacher. She has been teaching my 7yr old son for over a year now and he has made incredible progress and continues to do so. She is highly dedicated and has a wonderful personality making each class fun and interesting for my son. I have had to change his class time several times due to other activities and she has always been accommodating and understanding. At the end of each class, she goes over everything with myself or my husband to explain what was covered that day. My son has become a confident french speaker now, something he was shy and hesitant to try before. I would very highly recommend Jackie for french lessons.

I found Robyn to be a pleasure to work with. She's clearly knowledgeable about French language and culture and was able to help me prepare for my trip to Paris. I am looking forward to working with her more to polish my French pronunciation and language skills even after my trip.

About

From an early age, my parents stimulated my foreign language interest with Spanish language learning records and a French dictionary. Then in high school I took as many foreign language courses as possible in order to initiate my knowledge of Latin, Spanish, and French. My best foreign language learning experience in college was 2 years of residence in a French dorm, La Maison Francaise, where French became my second language. Then Spanish became my third language after my summer in Barcelona. When I graduated, I taught both languages in Pennsylvania public schools and received my permanent certification in both subjects. Since then I have also studied Italian, Modern Greek, Danish, and German. As a foreign language student now, I know the fear of responding incorrectly to a teacher's/tutor's questions, and in my tutoring I strive for an open atmosphere in which students feel free to ask questions to increase their comprehension and enjoyment of speaking, reading, writing and listening to Spanish or French. I enjoy seeing the results of the knowledge I have imparted to my students such as when they comprehend my Spanish or French, even if they have not yet learned all the vocabulary in that sentence. In addition, most of all, I like my students to take a chance on expressing their feelings correctly and enjoying their new foreign language experiences.

About

I'm a fluent French speaking customer service representative. I was a tutor in French grammar back in Haiti.

About

Bonjour! I'm a French man living in NYC and I help people of all ages learning and perfecting their French. Whether you want to learn from scratch, prepare a test or perfect your prononciation, I can help you reach your goals efficiently thanks to my unique approach. I am fluent in three languages and I'm learning a forth one, which helps me providing you with the best angle to learn a language. I like to teach "real-life" French, the language that is actually spoken in France nowadays, rather than the one taught in outdated books, no matter how formal/informal, you'll learn everything you need to become fluent. I have taught French for more than a decade, mostly to American grad student in France, then in the U.S. to different students in a private school. I have a literature high school degree and 2 bachelors in music (I'm a professional musician). Don't hesitate to contact me for more information, I would love to get to know you and help you reach your goals with a little touch of "je ne sais quoi". A bientôt! I love to see how my classes changed some of my students' life. Over the years I helped people pass exams, write a resume and get their dream job, move to another country and even communicate with their spouse and children. Learning a language is more than just an assignment for school or for work, it is life changing. I love to be part of this change for my students.

About

Fluent City classes are geared towards learning, but we also make sure that the process is super fun. Our energetic and approachable teachers create a relaxed environment for you to take on the challenge of learning a language alongside like-minded people. There is a huge difference between knowing how to speak a language and knowing how to teach it, and we pride ourselves on hiring teachers who are ridiculously good at what they do: explaining how the language works and getting you to speak it immediately. Our beginner classes are usually taught by non-native speakers…on purpose! They are often Americans who learned the language themselves as adults. Our teachers understand, firsthand, everything that goes into learning a language because they were once students of the language themselves, which informs the very way they explain how it works to you. Native speakers or teachers with native-level fluency usually teach our higher-level classes. We love seeing our students flourish linguistically while having fun, making friends, and meeting new people!
