Patrick Micheal Wickham is the master, period. I have taken vocals from so many coaches who just tell you what to do, but this is the first time in my life I know how to do it! I have learned so much more in four lessons than in four years with those fools. To my RBGirls out there-stop lettin people tell you that only an R&B coach can teach you that way! That's what I thought until I sat down with a real technician. It's about the voice and the BODY, not about the sound. Two lessons and you'll see.
From the moment I met David, I could tell he was a true professional and, most importantly a teacher who listens and cares about me as a student. I love that his lessons are not only fun but firmly grounded in theory. From the first lesson, I could feel and hear my voice opening up in a way that I could only imagine. I am thrilled to be working with David.
Bass lessons with Dom are amazing! He takes great care to patiently teach me music theory. His lessons are well-paced and informative. He is encouraging, skilled, and thorough. Learning from a guitar player as skilled as Dom is truly a dream. I can't wait for the day we will truly start jamming together!
Phenomenal musician, great teacher, cool cat - I rate David First INFINITY STARS. I've studied music here and there, but it wasn't until I started taking bass lessons with David a few years ago that it all came together for me. He explains music theory in a way I can understand and translate to actual practice that is not a chore, it is fun and addictive! Besides developing technical skill, Dave also helped me grow as a musician by getting over feeling awkward jamming with other people. I eventually felt comfortable enough to audition for bands and ended up in a fun one, playing out in the city even! David was there for my first gig, too. My husband was so impressed with my progress, he started guitar lessons last year and has come so far, it is amazing. We feel like Grasshoppers to David's Master Po. He is the best, ok I'll stop now, you get it.
Michelle is great with kids. Our 7-year old daughter loves her piano lessons and always looks forward to them. More important, we can hear that she is really learning and making great progress. Two of her school friends have started lessons with Michelle after we recommended her.
I'm a long time student of Chris's and have taken guitar lessons with him both in person at Express Music and then continuing on with Skype lessons once he moved out of Florida. I was also involved in several Rock Band programs which Chris created, he was the instructor and our band's drummer. He is really good at this stuff. Chris's guitar skills and level of music theory knowledge are top notch, I have never been able to stump him with any songs or questions Iâve brought in. He is comfortable teaching all styles of guitar and its various techniques. Chris is also very patient and easy to get along with, a very cool guy. Highly recommended!
I briefly took guitar lessons from Josh. I wanted to learn to play with other musicians and improvise, and his jazz background is what caught my attention. The sessions were informative and Josh was very encouraging. I had to stop unexpectedly but what I learned in the few lessons I took was very helpful and got me out of the rut I fall into while practicing on my own.
I took guitar lessons from Jimi on a fairly constant basis for about 3 years. The best and most unique feature of his teaching style is the balance between the freedom Jimi gives students in what they want to achieve musically, and the structure that he provides students with that will allow them to reach that goal. Personally, I learned advanced rock and jazz guitar techniques and improvisation from Jimi, and I am very happy with my current level of ability. Especially helpful is his extremely coherent way of explaining often over-complicated music theory. Jimi treats his students with an optimistic and respectful attitude, and creates a very welcoming and encouraging environment for the music student.
We had our first piano lesson with Sean and he was wonderful. We met him at the studio and he was right on time and very professional. Sean worked great with the twins and took time to evaluate their playing ability. We will be working with Sean moving forward and are expecting great results.
Josh is an awesome instructor! Everything we worked on was based off of what I wanted to learn. He sequenced everything so I could be challenged and have stuff to work on but wasn't overwhelmed. He really knows his stuff, teaching me the technique of how to pick properly and the basics of music theory. My soloing sounded way better after only a few sessions! Josh is a great person and is very knowledgable, I highly recommend him for all levels of guitar
My daughters guitar lesson with Stelios is one of our favorite parts of our week. I discovered Brooklyn Guitar Studio on Craigslist while looking for guitar lessons for my seven year old daughter. Stelios Michas invited us for an introductory lesson. He placed a guitar in my daughter's lap and a pick in her right hand and encouraged her to play and strum while he asked her about songs and singers she liked to listen to. Following the lesson, before we could cross the hall to the elevator, my daughter asked, Could we come back again? We were sold. Stelios was helpful in guiding me to buy a guitar for my daughter. By the end of the first scheduled lesson, he had broken down parts of one of my daughters favorite songs -- a TV theme song -- for her to play and practice on guitar and introduced her to musical notation. My daughter now keeps a notebook to write down songs she wants to talk to Stelios about. From my own conversations with Stelios and from watching him interact with my daughter, I would recommend him to guitar students of any age or ability. Meet him for an introductory lesson. You will be happy you did.
I take piano lessons from Michael. He is a great teacher, particularly because he customizes his lessons to suit the students' skill levels and musical goals. He prepares material ahead of class and has a nice structured approach that I find helpful in developing a good feel for the piano. It's great that he focuses on important technicals like tempo, playing technique and theory, and his lessons are well-rounded, with just the right amount of time spent on each aspect. I like that he is flexible with both scheduling and the curriculum, and willing to tailor material to what I am interested in. He also helped me pick out an excellent piano within my budget, which was very helpful. Overall, a great experience, and definitely recommended!
Mr. Batchelor gave me lessons for the electric bass guitar. His teaching was set to my personal needs as a musician, rather than being forceful. I was able to quickly regain my confidence as a bass player and improved greatly over a short amount of time. The theory that he taught me through the bass helped me get into my college's music conservatory. I now study Music Studio Production at Purchase College. Very good man, teacher and mentor
Kevin is a pro, through and through. I couldn't ask for a more patient, knowledgable teacher! I've taken lesson with Kevin for a few months now, and my music theory and guitar playing have benefited substantially. Kevin always has ideas for exercises to help reinforce a concept we're working on. Despite his incredible expertise, he is always patient and approachable, never pretentious or "over-my-head". I only wish I'd started taking lessons with him sooner! I would 100% recommend Kevin.
Very flexible to work with and explains lessons well.
Dan was so flexible in arranging a "birthday gift" of guitar lessons for our daughter. Though the schedules haven't worked out yet for the lessons, my daughter is really looking forward to such. Friendly, and approachable man. A pleasure to deal with!
I began working with Chris around four years ago, as a freshman in college seeking a specific higher music education--I have been a musician my entire life, and desire education on a conservatory level, but do not actually want to attend conservatory. I have found that most music teachers of any kind have their specific way of teaching, usually a combination of traditionalism and their personal methodology. This doesn't work for everyone, and in my opinion, is often the reason why most kids don't stick with piano lessons. In my case, Chris and I had coincidentally similar experiences learning music--we both have strong ears that we could use to "cheat" as it were. I wanted to dig deeper into theory and find someone who understood how I heard and thought without judgment so that they could help me advance--Chris was exactly that person. We started ear training lessons regularly at my apartment and have not stopped since! He is such a pleasure to be around, extremely knowledgable without forcing anything on you, and extremely perceptive which makes him a fantastic personalized teacher. I am truly lucky to have met him, and would recommend him to any music student from a beginner to a seasoned pro looking to brush up and stay on their toes!
I recently started working with Daniel and have been really pleased with my experience thus far. He is an enthusiastic and patient teacher with a love of piano that is inspiring to be around. After each lesson I feel motivated to practice and continue learning.
im in high school and i wanted to get better at jazz saxophone and improvisation and even though peter plays guitar and piano he taught me so much theory and technique for soloing and it changed my playin! he showed me so many classic albums to study and he is such an inspiring dude to hang with learn form peter!!!
Chris is hands down the best guitar teacher I have ever had (I have had six guitar teachers since I started playing 30 years ago). He has taken me further in two months than other instructors did in two years. In every lesson, Chris is constantly assessing where I am in my guitar journey, and plotting a course to get me to the next level. He listens to my every questions and gives succinct answers. His lessons leave me feeling inspired to practice and to just enjoy playing again. For anyone stuck in a pentatonic rut, or just needing inspiration, run, don't walk, to get a few lessons with Chris!
My son and daughter have been taking lessons at the Piano Workshop of Chester with Sonia for the past few years and they continue to make great progress!
