Anahid is one of the best piano teacher I've ever studied with. She is very passion about her job, and enjoy teaching very much. Throughout almost 4 years study with her, I enjoyed every moment. I am an adult student with some basic skills when I started study with Anahid. She understood my background very well and every new piece she gave me is very personalized to train one of the piano playing skills. Because I am a huge fun of classical music, she also considered my opinion on music selection. She often send me a list of music and ask me which one I want to work next. The way she trained me was also very academic. The pieces I worked on were diversify, from baroque to impression, from Bach to Beethoven to Greg. She kept a good balance between "fun" and "academic style", which made all her lessons both enjoyable, and effective. When study a new piece of music, Anahid never satisfied with just a play through. This to her is just the first step. We often discuss the music theory behind each piece, as well as the history and the composer. She also gave me a lot room for my interpretation. When I played on the semi-annual performances she held for all her student each year, I was confident that I was performing, not just play the right notes. I often saw Anahid teaches younger student. Her attitude was both encourage and discipline. The satisfaction and proud on the parents' face were the best approval. It is very sad that I have to move to San Francisco and end my piano journey with her. A good piano teacher is not about how fast he or she can play Liszt's etudes, but what the student can learned from the teacher. A piano lesson shouldn't just about teaching how to play the right note, but about how to enjoy the music while playing. Anahid belongs to few great teachers that reach those high standards.
My son Aidan has been working with Mosa Tsay as his cello teacher, and she's been awesome! I would highly recommend Mosa and City Strings & Piano NYC!
We have been students of the Piano Workshop for 7 years. Mark, the director, does a great job at matching students with teachers and is very accommodating to work with scheduling lessons especially with families that have very full schedules. We enjoy the recordings done at every recital and they make a good teaching tool as well. There are lots of teachers of various disciplines so students of all musical talents can benefit at the Piano Workshop. It's a professionally run outfit that I would recommend to all families.
Alexa is still teaching my daughter a year later. She is great! I am so happy we found her. My daughter is loving her cello instruction and learning so much!
I started taking Cello lessons when I retired, so I am obviously no youngster. Peter is an excellent teacher. He is very structured, very patient and obviously very knowledgeable. Not only is he also an excellent Cellist but takes the time to work with his students so that in the end, they too can excel.
My daughter has been taking violin lessons with David since she was 9 years old; and more recently, she has started classical, acoustic guitar lessons the summer before entering college. He is a dedicated professional and diligent in making sure his students learn correct technique and become more musical in their own personal way. More importantly, David has the ability to keep his lessons fun and varied! Her lessons have always been highlights of my daughter's week! I recommend David without hesitation.
Very strong fundamentals, explains well, and sets one at ease with her kind smile. I've taken lessons from top notch people and she breaks things down simply, emphasizing proper technique.
Great place, great music teachers, my son (6) goes there twice a week, 1 for Keboards, 1 for Drum lessons.
I absolutely love my cello lessons with Sarah. I started taking lessons from Sarah after many years without them. She has helped me overcome bad habits, play pieces I couldn’t get through anymore, and I’m so grateful that I can enjoy my cello again. I plan on continuing lessons with Sarah and am so glad I found her.
Julia is an absolutely wonderful teacher. Im an adult student, and I looked long and hard for a teacher who would be right for me. After nearly a year of false-starts I found Julia. She is a gifted musician whos passionate about the cello and patient with a beginner like me. When I play a scale or a song, she can identify exactly what I need do to enhance my tone. Her pedagogical approach combines a keen, intuitive sense and a wide breadth of knowledge. In short, Julia is stellar and its a joy to be her student.
Besides being a gifted musician, Andrey is also an excellent teacher. His expertise and passion for music and cello is an inspiration to his students.
Ron has been teaching my son Matt classical bass since he was in the 4th grade. He is now a freshman in college. Thanks to Ron and his innate talent and great personality Matt is a very gifted musician. During his school years here while with Ron he qualified for All County Orchestra a number of times. I can't say enough good things about Ron. He is a genius on many levels. I clearly think he is the BEST!!
Very skilled and knowledgeable. Flexible in teaching approach to address goals of adult student and to adapt lessons accordingly. Positive reinforcement a plus, combined with post-lesson emails summarizing items to work on in preparation for the next lesson. Highly recommended for an adult seeking beginner or intermediate/advanced violin instruction.
Rachel is patient and fun to be with. Her manner is teriffic, and learning correctly is important to her. I enjoyed my first lesson the cello...and am hopeful!
Luis is great he helped me get back yo the cello after a year of not playing. It was a lot of fun playing duets with him.
Aminda Asher is a classically trained cellist who teaches and performs in New York City. She is a certified Suzuki teacher who loves inspiring kids and families to love playing the cello. Aminda has many young students as well as adult students that range from beginning to advanced. She has been teaching in the New York area for the last 10 years and loves it more every year. She teaches under the Suzuki philosophy that "every child can" play music and makes it her mission to engage each student and get them excited about cello in their own individual way. Aminda not only teaches privately at her studio in Inwood, but is also currently on faculty at the 92nd Street Y School of Music, Turtle Bay Music School, and the Lucy Moses School.
I am young and energetic, and truly interested in the progress of students. I learn a lot from teaching, and I really enjoy watching students grow.
I offer private cello lessons, music theory tutoring, and ear training lessons. I play cello for gigs and events including weddings.
First Prize Winner of National ASTA Solo Competition (2010), Former section member of Rochester Philharmonic (2014-15), Associate Member of Chicago Civic Orchestra (2015-Present). M.M in Cello Performance, Eastman School of Music. P.S in Orchestral Performance, Manhattan School of Music. Private teaching since 2012 and experienced with different levels of students. Making music viable and fun for my students.
I'm a private lesson instructor to help people improve their music skill, and I want to see students learn the beauty of music more than they can on their own. For me, music is all about sharing, love and joy. It's one of the most beautiful things in the world can inspire and enrich your life.
I have all pedagogical levels of cello training and I use technology in my teaching to help gain the interest of my students, along with precise practice and performance methods. I am also trained in the Alexander technique and use that approach in my playing and teaching.
