I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the lessons with Takeru. His deep expertise in classical and jazz music, as well as his profound understanding of harmony and piano techniques, is truly remarkable. Whenever I encounter difficulties with certain phrases or techniques, Takeru quickly identifies the issue and provides tailored exercises and unique learning strategies. Rather than simply telling me to “practice more,” he offers precise guidance on what to practice, how to practice, how often, and what mindset to adopt. His approach to music theory has not only enhanced my ability to analyze and understand music but has also improved my memorization skills—I can now play Bach’s fugue from memory! It has truly been life-changing. As a child, I was forced to learn classical piano and found it unappealing, feeling like mere finger exercises. However, Takeru has rekindled my love for playing music through his inspiring lessons. Studying with him has made me realize how interconnected all music genres are and has completely transformed my perspective on music. I’m excited to continue learning from him.

Rarely do I write reviews, but I felt strongly about this gem of a teacher that I found. Francis is knowledgeable, professional, and dedicated. As a piano teacher, he is patient, encouraging, and extremely caring. As a person, he is a character I admire—hard working, kind to those around him, and inspiring. His worldly and extensive training in music theory and in practice shows in his approach in teaching. I cannot convey in words how grateful I am to have found Francis. As an architect, I absolutely enjoy the challenge I get from learning to play the piano and using a different part of my brain, and I always look forward to our next lesson as my skills continue to improve with each lesson. This holiday, I will be playing several classic Christmas tunes that I've always hoped to learn to play. Thank you, Francis for everything! I've been taking lessons with Illya for about a month now and it has been great. I am an advanced student, having taken classical for 8+ years in childhood, but have stopped for the past 10 years. We are working on Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No.2, a piece I wanted to always learn but never got around to. Illya does a great job with working on my tone and sound, guiding me through difficult passages and helping correct some of the bad technique/habits I picked up during my time of just playing for leisure. Illya is very friendly and personable and I would recommend him to any other pianists who want to properly get back to playing the piano again.
