My name is Michael Martinez. I am a husband, a father, and a musician. In my younger days, I was a part of every musical ensemble I could be a part of; I was a percussionist in the my middle and high school's Symphonic Band, a member of the drumline for the Riverside Ranger's Marching Band, a member of INNOVATIVE (a Winter Guard International competing percussion ensemble), a pianist in the El Paso Youth Jazz Ensemble, and a member of the Riverside Choir. I played drums in a few bands outside of school as well. In 2012, I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with my degree in Commercial Music with piano as my primary instrument. My studies revolved around music technology, music theory, and performing. At UTEP I was the pianist for the Jazz Ensemble, a member of Men's Choir, and outside of school I continued playing in various groups, recorded an album at Sonic Ranch Studios, and performed at Neon Desert Music Festival in El Paso in 2013. After graduating from UTEP, I was hired as the Music Director at Harmony Science Academy. It was here that I taught Music Appreciation, Music History, Choir, Guitar, Piano, and Music Theory AP. After 13 years of teaching in public education, I decided it was time to start my own private studio. In May 2025 I hung up my classroom keys and began teaching privately and focusing on my own music under the name Aztec Caves. Over the last 25 years I have taken care of my musical pursuits, and they in turn have taken care of me and provided me with a beautiful life, family, friends, and career. It is my honor, and goal to teach you this skill, and to show you how music can elevate the quality of your mind, health, and life.See more

Laurie C. says, "To Whom It May Concern, I’m writing to share my wholehearted recommendation for Pierce Emata, who has been my piano teacher for the past six months. Even in this short time, Pierce has had a profound impact not only on my playing but on my relationship with music as a whole. From the very first lesson, Pierce created a space that felt welcoming, encouraging, and challenging in the best way. He has a gift for meeting students exactly where they are and helping them move forward with clarity and confidence. Every lesson was more than just instruction—it was a thoughtful, patient, and often inspiring conversation about music, expression, and growth. What I appreciate most about Pierce is how deeply he listens. He always knows how to guide me through something I don’t understand with just the right balance of clarity and support. Under his teaching, I’ve grown more comfortable at the piano, more expressive in my playing, and more motivated than ever to keep learning. Pierce is a wonderful teacher and a genuinely kind person. I feel lucky to have found him and recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for not just a piano instructor, but a mentor. Sincerely, Laurie Calzaretta"See more

Rob C. says, "Marcell is a professional, willing and able to adapt and overcome. His work habit is diligent, and product is smart and creative. Like many musicians and composers, his professional toolbox is packed, by necessity. But Marcell adds adept communication skills, including expert code switching across cultures and genres and will help focus the scope of the work and get you from concept to a workable product with useful, honest feedback. As a performer, and leader and a teacher he has remarkable dedication to growing his own capabilities and knowledge. Already a formidable jazz trumpeter and gifted improviser at the keyboard, he is a joy as a collaborative musician, either at the piano, the trumpet. His chops as a composer and arranger are evident in whatever he does. I have engaged him as a teacher, an accompanist or, and as a composer. He is a musical Swiss Army knife, capable, and very honest."See more
