I've been working with Tom, the Piano Tutor for just over a month, now, and having taken my last private piano lesson about 25 years ago, he is incredibly patient and encouraging of me! Tom has set attainable goals but also doesn't let me settle for less than I'm capable of delivering. He is very personable and funny, humor gets us through some tricky technical work! I'm very thankful for his flexibility in fitting lessons in around my work and daycare schedule and his location in the city is perfect for a working mom like me. The Piano Tutor offered a summer special of 10 (45 minute) lessons for $250. If you're pricing any private lessons in Rochester, you'll know that is an amazing value. His professional musicianship and ability to teach at all levels are what really bring the value to his price tag. I would absolutely recommend Tom to any adult learner, especially if you want to be challenged, have fun, and really learn how to express that music in your heart.

My grandchildren (Corey and Natalie) are students of Deb and absolutely love their lessons. No one could be more pleased with the instruction she has given them and the progress they have made. Nat takes voice and sometimes Deb and her record songs they create together. Corey takes guitar and is playing Rush tunes already!!! Deb has a unique ability to communicate with the kids and they respond to her teaching techniques and always look forward to their lessons with enthusiasim. Even more important to us than her ability to communicate and teach was the fact that she is a wonderfull human being and as such a fine example for children. We are most fortunate to have her as a teacher for our grandchildren.

Cara is an amazing teacher... loved her the minute we met her. She has such a dynamic personality it just makes you excited to come back each week. Our daughter has accomplished more in 4 lessons with Cara than she has in the past year. So happy to have found someone so experienced in musical theater!!

When I was looking for a piano teacher I had two basic criteria: (1) must work well with adults, and (2) have no expectations for the speed of my learning, thus put no pressure on me. Beata Golec, PhD. matched these two criteria plus more. Having lessons with Beata is a fun experience. Besides being able to explain different playing techniques, she explains music history and theory and how it influences the piece I’m studying. This knowledge adds to my overall enjoyment and understanding. I am also amazed by her ability to look at a piece of music and immediately understand its nuances. If you want to learn more than “merely mechanics” of playing the piano, Beata is the person to learn from. In addition to being a great teacher, she is a delightful person to spend an hour with.

Brittney did a good job at meeting me where I am at. I often get nervous so she did exercises that enabled me to do my best. She had the confidence in me when I did not. Brittney knows that I am a fidgety individual, so she gave me techniques that let me stay focused and aware.

My daughter wouldn’t sing during the first lesson. However, I believe she will warm-up and break out of her shell. I believe he is an amazing singer and piano player and I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn to sing and/or piano.

I have two children at Rochester Academy of Music & Art (RAMA) taking piano and voice for over two years. It's been a wonderful experience, motivating, rewarding and creative. Our family has taken lessons with several schools and teachers in the area and we are happy to call RAMA our music home now. From logistical help to flexibility to high level instruction and skilled musicians, we have found everything we need at RAMA.
