I've only had two 30 minute lessons so far, and the second lesson was after she went on vacation, so take this with a grain of salt. Positive: She was on time for our Skype lessons She does seem to know what she's doing, as far as exercises go Friendly Negative-ish: She has forgotten to send me the exercises and links she said she would send after the lesson on both occasions Only doing 30 minute sessions, I was hoping for someone who could quickly get a handle on what I had and what I needed, and then get me onto a concrete path for improvement. The first lesson felt less targeted than what I was hoping for, and I was very uncertain about what I was supposed to do with the exercises she eventually sent after I finally requested them. However, I wanted to give it one more try, so I booked a second lesson. When she came back, she didn't really remember what I wanted or what I was working toward, so a lot of the session time was inefficiently used. Ultimately, it may be that it's a limitation of the half-hour length, which requires laser focus and tight lesson structure, but while I now have some exercises to work on, and one in specific that might be very useful, I still don't feel like I have a clear path to my goals. If she could do something differently, I might suggest creating a lesson outline, or a handout that has the exercises she uses on it, and then she could add or delete exercises, add notes, etc, and then send it to the student at the end of the session. That way, there's a concrete structure, and more detailed instructions on how to practice after the lesson. As it is, I feel like I just need to take the exercises and vocabulary/names she mentioned and go hunting on YouTube for greater detail, which can be effective.
Amazing experience with Maria. She tailored the class according to my specific need. Very flexible with time. Wonderful lessons!!!
I am in my 50's taking piano lessons for the first time since I was about 10 years old. I never got very far with my lessons as a kid and so I truly am a beginner in many ways. Linda has been a great teacher and resource for me teaching me things about the piano of which I was completely unaware. She's always patient, positive and encouraging and not only explains the nuances of how to play the piano but also the underlying music theory which turns out to be crucial to playing well (who knew?). Any piano player will tell you that learning piano is a slow and painstaking process but after about 3 months of lessons I can already tell that my sight reading has improved as has my playing and confidence. I highly recommend Linda, she is a patient, encouraging teacher who explains things clearly.
Incredibly pleased with this pro. My golf swing is developing after the very first session. Excellent drills to work on at home. I don't have much money but this guy is well worth the multi lesson package.
I have been taking lessons from Trent for a month or so now and he is great. I have been playing guitar for almost 19 years and decided to go back and learn theory and enjoy it a ton. He is able to break thoughts down and explain them in a way one can understand. Highly recommended!!
Sarah is an excellent piano teacher! She is very knowledgeable and skilled. She individualized lessons for each of my kids and really worked with them in the way that suited them best. I would highly recommend her.
Initial meeting to discuss guitar instruction, and look forward to starting our lessons.
When I began to get into the material, there were new and clever methods of memorizing techniques and theory that I had never seen nor heard of in all my years of taking lessons. The memorization techniques are clever and easy to remember. I think anyone can learn to play a piano with Miami Valley Music Instructions, even though they may have never played a note in their life.
Jeremy is a superb teacher. After five lessons with him, I am playing jazz chord melody arrangements that I never dreamed I could execute. Jeremy explains complex musical ideas in language I can understand. When we're working on a song I not only learn how to play it but also what makes the song tick, and how I can apply that knowledge to other situations. He is patient, has a great sense of humor, and seems to know exactly what I need to learn next. I appreciate that he allows me to progress at my own pace and offers multiple techniques for achieving a particular playing goal so that I can find the approach that works best for me. I come away from each lesson fired up with new ideas that I'm eager to bring to the fretboard. I highly recommend Jeremy to anyone looking for a guitar teacher. Whether you're a novice or an experienced player, he'll help you take your playing to the next level and he'll make your guitar journey a fun ride!
After trying to learn guitar casually on my own for a few years, I decided to seek out lessons. When I compared a few places I felt like Brian Armor would be a good teacher. I started taking weekly lessons a few months ago and chose a favorite rock song to learn. Since then I've added several songs and feel great about my progress. Brian is good at teaching things quickly. He knows how to adapt to my pace and scale it down. He gives me a good sense of where I'm at and what to work on, including reminders to avoid my bad habits. I'm impressed that Brian can listen to a song and is able to play it by ear, with the right tuning, key, and rhythm. Overall I'm having fun, playing songs I like (not just scales and chord progressions), and looking forward to getting better. Guitar lessons are my favorite part about Mondays! I highly recommend guitar lessons with Brian.
Working with Ms. Davis is an awesome decision! She makes me feel very comfortable and I'm looking forward to my next lesson!
Both my boys took lessons from Daniel. He was great with my kids and they really enjoyed learning with him. Highly recommend!!!
Jessica is great! She's patient, knowledgeable, and fun to be around. My lessons with her have quickly become something I look forward to week to week. If you're thinking about getting into martial arts at all I would highly recommend cantacting Jessica!
I had a guitar teacher named Phil Black, and he was a very cool dude. But in five years, I learned practically nothing from the man...ended up getting lessons from Geoff, and now I know what I'm doing. He really knows what he's doing, but I'm sure Phil did as well. The difference is that Geoff can actually teach you what you need to know with ease and simplicity. Highly recommend.
Excellent Piano Instructor. I am enjoying my lessons very much and am learning far more in the short time than in other lessons I have had. Who knows, I may finally be able to play!
Our son has been taking lessons with Clinton for 6 years and could not be happier! Clinton is an amazing instructor and very talented. His laid back approach has really resonated with our son. He's great with all ages. His love for his profession shines through in all interactions. He has my highest recommendation!
My experience has been excellent with Ric. He is a great guitar instructor. He is also very friendly and flexible. I enjoy my lessons, but I also enjoy our conversations. The studio is really cool too. My recommendation speaks for itself, as I will be signing up my seven-year-old son with Ric for his first guitar lessons. Thumbs up!
I take flute lessons from Victoria. She is actually the most patient teacher I have had. She understands what is like to just be starting out, and she knows a lot of tricks to make things easier. The only thing is that she has cats. I understand that they are Himalayans and less allerginic, but I would still be mindful.
Bryan engaged our son from the very first lesson, and focused on his interests. Bryan challenges and encourages him every lesson, and after only a couple months he is loving playing real songs. Highly recommend Bryan!
Simple, I have helped to turn out successful professional musicians (drummers, percussionists, ect) who are building their own careers now.
