After searching for a personal trainer that would make my weight loss and fitness goals seriously, I finally found the best! When I met with Christina, we discussed weight loss goals, eating habits, current exercise regimen and my long term goals, in addition to working out for 45 minutes. Extremely knowledgeable in all areas of fitness and diet no matter what your goal is, she will help you! One of the best things about training with her, you also get tips, tricks and diet help during your fitness journey! Christina makes you feel comfortable from the beginning, I was completely out of shape, overweight by roughly 50 lbs (she says 40 total) and embarrassed! . When I started with Christina, I had less than 2 months to lose almost 20 lbs to meet a weight goal to lower my health insurance, she pushed me at each session to accomplish this goal! Thanks to her I reached my goal, lowered my insurance and feel GREAT! I still have about 20lbs to lose and I know if I continue training with Christina I will reach that goal in no time! These last four months have been great with her, I know without a shadow of a doubt she has my best interest at heart! Thank you Chris from the bottom of my heart for all your support. I look forward to the day when I reach that fitness goal I am striving for. What a celebration that will be with you!!! **no pictures yet, journey is not complete**See more

Gentry and her assistant trainer Brittany blend professionalism, creativity, upbeat and motivating personalities, with hard/well earned and practiced knowledge about fitness and nutrition. Of all the trainers I contacted here and off site, Gentry was the most responsive, enthusiastic, and encouraging. As a 47 year old male with chronic Rheumo issues who is 20+ years removed from strength training or a serious fitness regimen, Gentry saw this as an opportunity and not an obstacle, and both she and Brit have gotten the most out of me while also telling me how to maximize the efficacy of the workouts and keeping a sharp eye on my well being. With a precise eye for good form, a balanced but safety and health-minded approach to realize their client’s potential every session, and an ever changing range of exercises, the sessions are always fun, challenging, rewarding, and leave me feeling both like I left nothing on the table and that I look forward to coming back for more. Gentry and Brit will push you, but not berate or look down on you no matter where you are in your own process. They have clients that run the entire range of fitness levels and live and breathe the work and science behind it themselves. Male, female, fit, unfit, healthy, ill — they’re going to get you where you want to go (and beyond) if you’re ready to put the work in, and you’re going to have fun doing it. Come prepared to sweat, listen to their advice; you’d be hard pressed to find better trainers anywhere in Central Ohio. 8 weeks in, 32 sessions, and I truly couldn’t be happier and I absolutely see results I didn’t get elsewhere. I haven’t been compensated or encouraged to write this review, I’m doing so out of genuine happiness and appreciation. Highly, highly, recommended.See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.

How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Shop around to find the right type of boot camp class and the right instructor for you.
