Mark taught my daughter guitar from the age of 8. Even when her fingers were too small for chords, she was able to play beautiful classic pieces. They moved on to keyboard in their lessons and he made it fun by teaching her popular music and other songs that she was familiar with. He is both patient and encouraging - perfect for my easily frustrated daughter!
Elaine is an amazing teacher. We have been with her for 10 years. My 3 sons are studying piano with Elaine. She is very patient with them. You can't help it but to inherit her enthusiasm. We asked our oldest who is 16 to stop piano lessons and he refused since he loves it so much. We were with a different teacher in the beginning and can't even compare. Her concerts are captivating and breathtaking.
My sons aged 6 and 8 just started piano lessons with Karen. So far so good!! She interacts really well with them and they look forward to their next lesson!
Lee's home is inviting, his learning space is comfortable and his knowledge and humor are both wonderful. Lee has been helping me learn and apply music theory to the guitar and I look forward to working with him every week. His price is very reasonable considering his advanced knowledge. I've noticed that he is also great with kids so I recommended him to my sister and now she is learning from Lee is well. The first day my little sister came in, we brought the toddler along with us. The first question Lee asked was, "Do you like tools? Where's my tool box?" Lee leaves the room and comes back with a toy tool box and allows the little one to play while he taught my little sister the basics of the guitar. Lee is great with kids, funny and his lessons are interesting. That being said, I've seen Lee sight read like a beast. He isn't just for kids. We've been powering through some scales as well as studious work from Frederick Noad. I also take lessons through a jazz master's student and I would miss his lessons too much continue my musical journey without Lee. Thus, I see both instructors. With Lee, you get your money's worth and you don't fall asleep. You feel like you are learning. He powers me through the material and keeps my attention on task.
We are just beginning piano lessons, but our first impression of Siobhan Mccarthy was very positive.
My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Kevin at the woodshed for some time now, and we couldn't be happier. I come from a very musical background and have had many lessons in my own day, and I think this is an experience she will fondly look back on. Kevin not only teaches her the classics, but also will teach her anything that she's interested in, which I think is great, it helps to keep a kid interested. And she's also interested in learning other instruments which we will have fun with as well. I highly recommend Kevin and the Woodshed! Hopefully we will be coming here many years from now. Oh also VERY reasonable prices!!!
Joseph has been great! He's helped to cater lessons and challenges to fit my goals with violin. I would definitely recommend him!
I worked with Su Han at the University of Houston right before she started her doctorate. A GREAT teacher for beginner/intermediate adult students. Fantastic in her ability to make music theory (and other hard concepts for me) super tangible and relatable. She's also really patient, and doesn't mind repeating whatever is needed to get through an adult's fully-formed brain. She's really grand, and I would still be taking lessons from her if she weren't half a continent away. Highly, HIGHLY recommend.
Janessa was my vocal coach in high school and helped me get prepared for my college auditions in my senior year as well as help me land the lead in my high school musical! I learned great strategies to help my voice mature and a lot of foundational skills that I missed out on not having played an instrument. Janessa was able to help me overcome a lot of the bad habits that I had as well as push me to expand my vocal skills. She was a great Christian role model and I appreciated her approach. I would recommend Janessa to any young singer looking for direction and focus in their singing career.
Rebekah taught both of my children piano lessons for 3 years when they were elementary school students. She did a great job encouraging them in their playing and helping them to find music they would want to play. Her personality and enthusiasm make her a joy to work with.
Jordan Matthews is a very talented pianist who is able to teach a student from basic piano technique to musicianship skills. He is very professional and a well-rounded musician. I highly recommend him as a piano instructor.
Having taken jazz piano lessons with Jeff for 2 years, I can assure you that he is an excellent pianist and teacher. Jeff does a wonderful job of creating an atmosphere of comfort and creativity, giving me the encouragement and knowledge to explore and expand upon my own ideas. Jeff also led me to various performance opportunities and programs in and around the city, which helped me hone my skills and learn to play with a group. Above all, Jeff is passionate about his work, and this certainly shines through in his teaching.
Andrew was very communicative to make sure he played exactly what we needed. He was very professional and considerate! Would hire again!
I teach my students to be knowledgeable musicians. I want them to be able to pick up a piece of music and be able to read and play it.
