I agree with the other reviewers on this site, Louis is an excellent teacher! I have been taking bass lessons from him for two months now and have already made a lot of progress. He is extremely knowledgeable and takes many different approaches to address specific needs. Highly recommended.

Deb is a very energetic teacher and is great to work with! I have been taking piano lessons (beginner level) with her for almost two months and it has been a really wonderful experience. Every lesson, we review what we discussed the previous week and move on to new material. Deb has been very good about giving me exercises and pieces to work on in between sessions. This has been very helpful and has helped me improve in the short time I've been taking lessons with her. I would highly recommend Deb as a piano teacher. She is also a very talented violinist!!!

Hands down, Mr. Davis is the BEST teacher I've ever had. He is kind and patient, he pushes you and makes sure you understand the material before moving on. I only wish I didn't procrastinate to start lessons. What are you waiting for!? Call and make an appointment !

Dr. Framil has been providing private cello lessons for my son for the past 3 years. He is the 4th teacher we have had, and is by far the best. He has been an attentive and motivating teacher. My son often comments that Dr. Framil is able to identify and clearly communicate which areas need more work, and how to tackle that. He mentored my son through selection of his first owned cello - a big investment for any musician. We would recommend Dr. Framil without reservations.

Love Beams Music Studio! Tom is a great musician and a friendly, helpful guy when it comes to finding a music teacher to fit the bill or even to decide what instrument a kid should play. My son has made great advances in learning to play the piano and the saxophone. Even my younger kids (not yet taking lessons) know who Tom is because he's always friendly. I'd recommend Beams for everyone!

I have no complaints regarding my cello lessons with Conor. He is very attentive to even the smallest of details and knows exactly what I need in order to continuously improve. It is evident that he puts a lot of thought into lesson preparation each week. I'm never bored in my lessons, either; there's always something new and exciting to learn. I definitely made the best choice in selecting Conor as my teacher.

Miss Morelli has been working with my son as his private cello teacher for a few years now. I knew she was the right teacher for my son right away. She built a positive rapport with him and motivated him in ways that I could not as a parent. Miss Morelli was able to pinpoint his strengths and weaknesses and found creative ways to help him grow as a cellist. My son has been able to audition successfully to different organizations under Miss Morelli's guidance. She is the best we've had so far!

    About

Have you always wanted to play the cello? Do you have a child who is showing interest in music? Private lessons can make a huge difference and will take a student much farther than group lessons and orchestra classes at school can. Dedicated and one-on-one instruction helps shape and focus skills like nothing else! I am a cello instructor located in South Philly. I have a BFA in cello performance and have been teaching lessons for 8 years. As a performer, I work in diverse settings, from professional orchestral experience during my time in the Midwest to theater and dance accompaniment in Philadelphia. A keystone of my work has always been performing with bands. I have recorded on 20 albums and toured extensively with projects spanning a broad spectrum of genres. In the short time since relocating to Philadelphia, I have established myself as an educator all over the city. I am a teaching artist with Play On, Philly! as well as the cello instructor at the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr. My teaching style puts a focus on realizing musicality and expression through proper playing technique. Playing for hours shouldn't be hard on your body! I work to make my students comfortable at their instruments so that their musical intentions can shine. I am a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, and I look forward to meeting some new cellists!

Robert Bradshaw is not only the best violin instructor I've ever met but he's also one of the best men I have ever met. Mr. Bradshaw owns his own Haddonfield business in which he is surrounded by an extremely competent staff, which is filled with other instructors teaching instruments such as cello, violin, piano and more. Whether you are a parent interested in having your child learn an instrument or an adult who would like to learn an instrument or enhance your skills, you can't go wrong with Maestro Studios. Bradshaw stands out above all other music instructors because of his passion, enthusiasm and love for his job. You or your child's specific schedule or musical needs will be met. And to keep your interest in you or your child's instrument, Rob Bradshaw puts on great recitals and concerts and you or your child can even be part of the the pit orchestra for the local theater academy's shows. Reasonably priced lessons, great instructors, and incredible experiences.

I have been studying music and learning to play the saxophone with Mary for a year. I have been through many music teachers in my life as I used to play the piano since i was 10 years old. Most of the music teachers I have found are only interested in teaching how to play the instrument. Mary not only teaches the finer things about your instrument of choice but brings to it her overall knowledge of music theory, holistic studies, and her love of God and is able to wrap it all together where you know without a doubt music is definitely a gift from God. The one thing that truly amazes me about Mary is she takes the time to gets to know you, your personality, what techniques enable you to learn the best, your experiences and background and is able to intertwine it with her knowledge and experience and brings about a whole new understanding that I have never experienced before with other music teachers. What touches me the most and demonstrates that Mary really is concerned about the individual coming to a wonderful understanding about music is that she prays for each of her students before a lessons and ask God to help her communicate what that particular person needs to understand that day and how through music she can glorify our Lord and Saviour. I truly am blessed to find and work with Mary. She definitely brings about a whole new world in music.

We have been thrilled with Sunny! I was looking for someone to teach my 15 year old piano, and was incredibly lucky to find Sunny. In addition to her flexibility she and reasonable rates, Sunny has an incredible educational background and knowledge base. She has been a fun and engaging teacher for my daughter, and her cheerful personality gave her an instant rapport with my teenager. In the few months that she has taught my daughter, I am amazed at the progress I have seen.

        About

My name is Melissa L., and I am currently employed by the Cecil County Public Schools as a strings teacher. While traveling from four different schools, I am also offering private lessons for strings and piano. I have acquired a degree in music education with a concentration in violin from the University of Delaware. I have been playing the violin for 17 years and also have been giving private violin lessons for the last nine years. Although my main concentration is focused on the violin, I provide private lessons for viola, cello, string bass, and piano. As an educator, I strive to provide students with the knowledge to become highly skilled and competent musicians. Whether music becomes a hobby or profession, I want my students to appreciate and engage in their learning as aspiring musicians. Music has made such a positive impact on my life, and I hope to inspire my students to love the music that they play. The many years that I have played the violin, along with my nine years of private teaching, has given me knowledge of effective techniques to incorporate in my teaching. I hope to be a positive and encouraging role model while engaging my students to their fullest potential as musicians!

        About

I am a Philadelphia based musician who plays guitar and cello full-time. I am also proficient in piano, drums, bass and brass. I have played in over 10 states as well as internationally. I studied music for five years at the Pennsylvania State University and have been playing music as a career for six. I absolutely love spreading my passion and joy of music to others and strive to push every student to his/her fullest potential. I get the highest amount of enjoyment out of playing music live as a living, but if there is one thing that makes me even happier than that, it is being able to open up the doors for a student to share in that same experience. Whether it be rock, classical, hip-hop, or whatever style of music you love, I want every student to be able to express himself/herself through this wonderful art.

How hard is it to learn to play the cello?

Taking cello lessons can be a rewarding experience for students young and old. The rich sound of the cello is well-loved in classical music and is found in all genres of contemporary music from modern folk to rock. As with any instrument, how hard it is to learn to play cello depends on the practice and dedication you put into it. It’s true that some people are naturally more adept at learning instruments than others, but with lessons and a daily commitment, you too can learn to play the cello.
