Tony did a great job installing my washer and dryer, moving some plumbing around so I could have them exactly where I want them, and installing a new spigot. His prices were completely fair and reasonable and the work is top notch! We will be hiring him again for some other projects around the house.

Charles did a fantastic job helping us with a water leak associated with our washer - ended up not being an appliance issue but a clogged pipe. He has a great attitude and wants to solve your problem. He went above and beyond the job and helped with a few things in addition to the issue at hand. Didn't change the price and he was enjoyable to be around. Charles is VERY knowledgeable about the washer/dryer aspects (and is happy to give you input on ongoing maintenance to prolong the life of your products). We would definitely use Charles again in the future.

Don helped me with some dryer repairs as well as installing a new microwave. He was extremely knowledgeable at diagnosing the issue and how to best repair. He was extremely thorough and even explained what he was doing and looking for. He was very upfront about costs which were more than reasonable. I would certainly recommend him to any friends/family with Household needs and will certainly be looking to his expertise for any future issues.

Hi my name is Debbie, Mike from Masco Appliance came out to fix my dryer because it wouldn't start. He came the very next day after contacting him. He was punctual, professional, and friendly. It only took him 45 minutes to complete the job. I was totally satisfied with the experience. I would definitely use them again and recamend them to others! The price was very reasonable as well.

My movers would not move my washer and dryer in my 3 story townhouse. Needless to say, I needed someone to move them from the garage to the hall closet on the 3rd floor and also install them. Andre responded right away and was able to come out on a Sunday evening at 5 pm. He even went to get the parts needed to complete the job. I have already washed a load of clothes and it is now 8 pm. I could not ask for better service. Thanks, Andre.

Frank did a great job repairing my dryer. He was able to give a reasonable diagnosis of the problem and a quote to make the repair over the phone. When I hired him he did come out and confirm the issue and the quote before ordering any parts. He was very punctual, friendly and professional. I thought he charged a fair price and the dryer is working great. I would highly recommend his services.

Joe was great! Very easy to work with as far as scheduling and repairing a dish washer and a refrigerator ice dispenser. Price was set up front and seemed reasonable. I won't hesitate to call him back again when something breaks.

Frank did a great job of trouble shooting our issue with our washer. Turns out we needed a new one but he was honest and gave some really good advice on where we could find one for a good price. Frank is a great guy and I would recommend him to anyone.

I have no problem recommending Borden Appliance. This was our first experience with them as we needed a service call on our washing machine and ice maker. Chuck knew right away without having to take the washing machine apart that it's time had come. I kind of suspected that ahead of time, but he reaffirmed. He recommended a couple of different brands and stores where we would find such items. Of course the ice maker was working just fine when Chuck arrived, but after listening to me explain what was happening and after running some quick diagnostics on our refrigerator / freezer, and after inspecting the rear of the unit he was able to solve the problem. The next day of course the ice maker was not working again, so I reached out to him and he quickly responded asking me to give the unite 48-72 hours to "reset" in response to his service on the unit. After two days the ice maker was running properly and making ice again on a regular and consistent basis! Finally, Chuck offered to clean all the dust and lint that had accumulated on the rear of our refrigerator on, around, and inside the vent area; he offered to do the same for our dryer to help maintain its efficiency. But he also suggested I save a couple hundred bucks and just do it myself, as he offered up advice as exactly how to clean / maintain those areas. So I took him up on his advice and took care of those tasks myself. Chuck was responsive, on time, offered sound advice, followed up to my post appointment emails, and he was fairly priced.

Called them to add new tile fixtures to a kitchen. Did that very well and on the same visit, ended up fixing my washer, dryer vent, bathroom light switch, my daughters bike and assembled a toy play house..I ran out of things to give him. I'm sure I'll have more pesky jobs around the holidays that I just don't have time for and will call them back!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
