What are the pros and cons of artificial grass?

Artificial grass is low-maintenance, which is a major pro for homeowners with a busy schedule. You don’t have to mow it, water it or fertilize it, and it stays a consistent color year-round. It can also be made from recyclable material. 

However, there are some tradeoffs. Low-maintenance doesn’t mean no maintenance — you will need to sweep, spray and sanitize the grass. Artificial turf in direct sunlight can become hot. And, the installation cost is typically more expensive than natural grass.
