Don did a terrific job replacing the shingles on our home. The roof was last shingled in 1979, and there was some damage to the slat roof since then. Don did a first class job making the repairs. Great quality at a great price.

Tony responded immediately to my request for power washing my house. He was punctual and told us early on what he would be able to do and what he was not going to be able to attempt due to height of our roof. He was fast but yet made time to move things and put them back carefully. He cleaned up after the job. I will definitely use him again. Very nice guy!

Doug made the whole prosess very easy, and his crew was fast! When they were done, they cleaned up the whole area so you would never know they were there, expect for the new roof! Doug inspected the roof and told me insurance should cover most of the cost. Since I had planned to spend over $5,000 on a new roof, I was very happy to find out that with insurance, it cost me around $1,800! Trust Doug, he will do things right.

Ron Scott of Scott Roofing is a complete pro. His communication from beginning to end was perfect. He was punctual for the estimate as well as start I g and finishing the job on time. He explained every aspect of what needed to be done and the costs involved. The crew was hard working and professional as well. They cleaned up as if they had never been there. The shingles he uses have a lifetime guaranty as well as giving us an excellent workmanship guarantee. I highly recommend this company. He was not the cheapest not was he the most expensive. The cost was very reasonable. And no surprises. He also replaced many parts of the roof that the other companies did not include in their estimates. We should not have any roofing issues for many years to come. Thanks so much Ron.

Absolutely hands down the best roofing business I've ever dealt with. The owner, Mr. Hatchell, personally dealt with me and after being given a VERY competitive quote compared to the other roofing companies I called which was 6 in total; Belle Haven roofing was $587 cheaper. Plus, their work was flawless and they finished my whole roof in two days AND they even replanted some of my grass where their ladders and shingles messed up my yard! In conclusion, I have 5 words to sum up these guys. Courteous Competitive Punctual Honest Quality P.S They aren't overweight rednecks with beat up white chevy trucks and high school educations! They are college educated intelligent individuals with all their teeth and speak perfect English!

Couldn't be happier with my new Roof. Robert was so attentive, helped me understand all the details, gave me a great price and moved on the project much quicker than I had ever anticipated. His guys showed up early, got right to work, didn't slack at all and finished it in what I thought was record time. The quality of their work is excellent. They did everything we discussed incuding removing my old satellite dish which I had actually forgotten about myself. They cleaned up what little mess they made and I could hardly tell they had been here other than seeing my brand new roof installed. I don't think that anyone can beat his price and his sense of urgency in getting the job done makes StoneMark a great choice. Highly recommend.

I contacted 5 highly credited roofing companies and by far after meeting Mr. Morrow me and my wife knew then we were definitely were we belong. He came in and discussed our technical breakdowns in and outs of a few systems we had already heard of and took in mind how many adults and children lived in our home and explained proper ventilation in order to keep all of our generated moisture flowing out of our house at a high rate making my family healthier and our roof last longer over the years to come. Very knowledgeable and professional in every single way. We are so glad we chose complete Roofing to do our roof and would highly recommend them to all of our friends and family. Thanks guys for a job well done.

I received quotes from 5 companies and Sunset Home was able to provide a free estimate the quickest. When they performed the estimate, they were also able to evaluate other aspects of the roof ignored by the other companies. The quote generated by Sunset was in line with the other companies but I was assured by their quality and professionalism early on.

Sky was so great to work with when we had our 23 year old roof replaced. Even when our insurance company was trying to cheat us out of money due to the age of the roof, he has fought and is still fighting to make sure we get our fair share. His team of roofers had to work with little notice since weather can change so rapidly in early January and it was done in 2 days. I would highly recommend this company for any of your upcoming home projects.

Bluebird Construction was recommended to us from a friend, and we're so happy we went with them. Danny H was our agent. He was efficient, kind, and he educated me on the issues I had with my roof, without trying to oversell. There's something to be said for getting exactly what you ask for from a contractor. The entire process from bid to completion was conducted in a timely manner, came in exactly at the cost he said it would with no surprises and looked better than I could have ever imagined. I would definitely rehire them in the future.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
