Ben really stepped in at the last minute and did a good job capturing my daughter's wedding. The only reason that I did not rate as excellent is due to outside noises. It is difficult to capture audio outside. But I do recommend his services.

Initially, a videographer was not high on our wedding priority list, but we’re so glad we found Chance! My now husband and I watched so many wedding videos and found ourselves getting bored a few seconds in, but Chance’s videos kept our attention throughout. That’s how we knew we found our videographer. I’ve had many friends tell me they teared up from watching our video! One thing that was important to us was capturing drone footage of our venue (Four Seasons in downtown Austin right off the lake). His footage of the lake and downtown was spectacular! He really has mastered the artistry of wedding videos and not only has a great eye of capturing important and fun moments, but is able to edit them into a fantastic highlight reel that you want to watch over and over again. We also really enjoyed the fact that our highlight video came on a Blu-ray with “lightly edited raw footage” so that we could relive almost the entire evening ourselves. We specifically didn’t want our vows and speeches in the highlight video but we loved being able to see it in the raw footage. We are so happy to have found Chance and would highly recommend him to anyone! THANK YOU!!

We LOVED our wedding video!! I go back and watch it several times a month and it brings back so many happy memories. My only regret was not getting the full movie video. I think my wedding day was long and there were so many special moments it wasn't possible to get every single thing in the video. Parissa and Josh were pretty easy to reach when I had a questions and pretty flexible with meeting times and places.

Brent is a total pro! He communicated extremely well while planning our event, was on time, very organized and effectively trouble-shooted technical issues the hotel was having and anticipated our needs (even before we recognized them as needs - lol). The video footage he shot for us of a two day educational seminar was top-notch professional product. I coordinate several events throughout the country each year and Brent is one of the best videographers I've ever worked with. I look forward to working with him again in the future

One of my favorite weddings that I photographed in 2014 was Aasha and David's wedding at the TFWC Mansion in Austin on June 29, 2014. Matt Kordelski with Mattkprovideo.com was the professional wedding videographer at Aasha and David's wedding. Matt worked very well with the other wedding vendors at the wedding. He also worked well with the couple. Brides, wedding vendors who can work well with your other wedding vendors as well as with you and the groom is extremely important and ensures that your big day will be a whole lot less stressful! Matt also delivers to his couples beautiful wedding videos, as you can see if you check out his wedding videography online. All in all, Matt with Mattkprovideo.com is an excellent choice for your wedding and event videographer!

ArtIsInFormation handles every assignment with stellar creative vision, very personal customer care, and the high quality production value. Both the wedding and the musical production that they have filmed for me were beautifully done. The camera work is steady, varied, and integrated the activity of the event with the beauty and atmosphere created. ArtIsInFormation will always be my first choice for film and editing services.

Roman did videography for our wedding in Austin, Texas on April 2, 2016. From start to finish, he was extremely professional, friendly, and so easy to work with. I was very impressed with the incredible quality of his work for such a great price point. He was willing to negotiate to make sure my husband and I were happy with his service and got exactly what we wanted. He ALWAYS responded immediately to emails and texts, which made my time as a bride-to-be so much less stressful! The week of my wedding, he reached out on his own to let us know he had us down and was ready for our event. This was much appreciated as I was scrambling to make sure everyone remembered to show up to our wedding and be in the right place at the right time. On my wedding day, he showed up early with a big smile on his face. I felt like he was genuinely happy to be there, which is such a nice feeling when you are dealing with the stress of so many different vendors and guests on your big day. Besides his kindness and great personality, the product he delivered was absolutely wonderful. He really captured all our special moments, and the highlight video he made was amazing. We are so happy with Roman P Photography and are going to recommend him to all our friends and family in the area.

Rebecca is very talented! I am normally a control freak but really had no idea what to even ask for from a videographer for my wedding. So I let Rebecca 'do her thing' and I absolutely loved the result! She is very trustworthy, creative, considerate (I noticed she made careful efforts to stay out of the photographer's way), and just a fun person to be around!

Jake did such a wonderful job videoing our wedding! He was very professional, had great communication, came up with cool/fresh ideas and created the perfect wedding video for us. He captured all of the moments we will look back on and cherish for the rest of our lives. I would, without a doubt, recommend Jake to anyone I know who is getting married or has a special event coming up in their lives. He was terrific! I was more laid back and let him do his thing without giving much direction. He did so in a very professional, and non-obtrusive way. He had many cute and clever ideas that I would not have considered without his help, to be honest I barely noticed him being there. My husband, having photography experience, had lots of ideas and suggestions which Jake was totally open too, and they totally nailed it. He filmed everything we were hoping he would capture and much more. The real magic though, is the video editing. As you can see from ours, it’s literally cinematic quality and he paired it with cool modern music, as well as our first dance song and Copperhead Road (one of my husbands favorites).

My wife and I are extremely happy with our wedding photos. They were very professional and made the experience fun. They are very creative and are able to adapt to their environment and execute their vision, all while asking us for our input and letting us implement some of our own ideas. I highly recommend them to anyone needing professional photographers and videographers. You will NOT be disappointed!

My husband and I first didn't plan on hiring a videographer for our wedding but a couple of months before the event, we changed our mind. We asked friends for referrals and some of them highly recommended DanielKa Video to us. Everything they said about Daniel Ka is true. He's been an amazing person we worked with. He's flexible in his pricing, prompt to answer any questions and always ready to go above and beyond. As a person, Daniel Ka is fun, reliable and so friendly. On the wedding day, he was like a fly on the wall, capturing all important moments while remaining almost invisible. Within a month, he delivered everything to us. We were amazed at the quality of his work. I've watched our highlight film a 1,000 times and I still cry and laugh and cry and laugh. What a precious treasure we have! We just don't know how we can express our gratefulness to Daniel Ka for the fantastic job he did for us. I keep recommending him to all my family and friends for their video needs. You can't go wrong by hiring DanielKa Video!

I would recommend Jacob to anyone who needs anything professionally videotaped and edited! He listened very carefully to my requests and explianed the process very well. I am so happy with the end result and a wonderful of highlight of our special day. The price was very reasonable considering the market for wedding video and the quality was comparable to any of those high priced videographers. Hire Jacob! You won't regret it.

I am a photographer who has worked with Ryan for quite a while now, and he has filmed a few weddings, and surprise proposals by my side as I captured the still photographs. Ever since the first wedding I worked with Ryan at, and saw the outcome, I was amazed!! I am always quick to recommend him if I have any clients in need of a videographer. He pays very close attention to detail, and makes sure he captures every memorable moment for his clients. He is a very kind, easy going young man, and makes sure his clients are comfortable as they are being filmed. His prices are very reasonable as well which is a great plus!! Whether it's an event, wedding, party, or any special occasion.. Book with Ryan and you will not be disappointed!

Devin was a dream to work with! He and his wife were both incredibly detail oriented, focused on capturing the special moments of the day, and also fun to be around during one of the best days of our lives. The turn-around time on our ceremony video and highlight video was incredible - we've been able to reminisce and experience our wedding day in a whole new way thanks to Devin & Lauren. All of our friends and family who have seen our videos have commented on their high quality and how they so perfectly captured the spirit of the day. I would recommend Woodard Wedding Productions to anyone looking for a wedding videographer in Austin!

My wife and I were very lucky to have David film our wedding, especially because we asked him at the very last minute. We also wanted to have a unique finished product instead of the typical, boring wedding video; he was able to pull that off and more! We couldn't be happier with our video and will show it for years to come. Not only that, but when our photographer was running late on our big day, David graciously offered to start taking my wife and I's first photos together. Our contracted photographer eventually showed up, but his generosity, and preparedness helped relieve so much stress for my wife as we juggled the hectic day. I've met plenty of wedding photographers and videographers, but David's kindness and professionalism really set him apart.

Marv was our videographer for our wedding and I could not be happier with the finished product. Many videographers we looked into provided only a 5-7 minute highlight reel of the event, but Marv provided a ~40 minute long video capturing us getting ready, the ceremony, toasts, dances, and other reception highlights. I loved the shots he got, how he edited the final product, the music he chose, and truly everything about it. He is very professional and also a pleasure to work with so I highly highly recommend him for your wedding day video needs!!

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

          • Package 1: $1,400
            • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
            • Two cameras with audio equipment.
            • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
            • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
          • Package 2: $1,800
            • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
