Kevin came to our office to help verify that we could install a portable dishwasher in our kitchen. He was very friendly and not only gave us the go ahead to install, but also gave us tips for installation in case we decide to do it ourselves. I'd recommend Kevin!

What a pleasure to work with this kind & skillful couple! We had a slight leak under our kitchen sink. They responded quickly, scheduled easily & immediately, and showed up on time & well-prepared. Quickly identified the problem (damaged disposal - wet & rusted circuitry), demonstrated & discussed the issue & possible solutions with us, located replacement parts & had them installed for us all very promptly. They even gave the dishwasher a test run to be sure everything functioned with no leaks. I really appreciated that they showed care & respect for our home & family. These folks are top-notch. We will definitely be reaching out to them for future assistance & referrals! Their well-rounded skill set makes them a go-to for any home repair & renovation needs. Thank you, Fransys & Bladimir!

My repair turned out to be fairly easy but the guys did a great job and also explained the issue with my dishwasher and did not try to repair something that wasn't really broken. I would definitely use them again.

Frank saved Thanksgiving! My new range was delivered at 2 the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I had originally planned on hooking it up myself but chickened out at the last minute...screwing it up would put my family’s life in danger. Nope! I posted on Thumbtack and Frankie’s Appliance Repair was the first to reply...within minutes! He doesn’t usually work on Sundays but I thank my lucky stars he was today! Good luck getting anything appliance-related done Thanksgiving week, you know. Frank was at my house and my appliance was installed and ready to cook by 4pm. Thank you, thank you. Frank was able to troubleshoot my funky gas line location and performed some serious contortion skills. He’s a nice guy too.

Chris Fischer was a pleasure to work with and I would use his services again in a heartbeat. I had several minor home repairs (oven, disposal, kitchen faucet, microwave) that he thoroughly diagnosed, explained the costs, how long it would take to order parts, and repair them. His rates are very reasonable and his quality & professionalism are second-to-none!

Josh was the best and most professional person that I have had come work on my home. He installed a few ceiling fans and also hooked up my stove and dishwasher. While he was here I mentioned a few other issues I had in my home and he discussed options with me on how to fix them. I now call him with any and all needs. He showed up on time and was very reasonably priced. I now have a go to handy man to fix almost anything in my home. Thank you so much josh for your hard work!

Christopher and his wife were great, knowledgable and fair. They came out, explained everything to me, and walked me through my options. Christopher laid out all of the details and unfortunately my fridge wasn't worth repairing. He did all of this between two service calls, and only charged me the initial $65 fee. I was very appreciative of that. If I have any kitchen repairs, Christopher will be the person I call! Highly recommend.

july,15, 2015. i had t-horn remove my disposal and then straight pipe my kitchen sink. my 1st positive impression was by looking at this site. benton responds to all his customers feedback and thanks them on this site. he also has a code of ethics he discusses on this site. also he called me this morning to followup and make sure everything is working. my sink was stopping up when my dishwasher drained and it was gross. i am still checking to make sure it is ok because i did not run a load of dishes last night. i am sure it is fine. he also replaced a bib on the outside. so how many plumbers do you know that do this type of thank you and telephone follow up and discusses ethics? NONE!!; well now there is one that that does. anyway, i wanted to develop a relationship with t-horn, because you just never know when you will need a plumber. thanks benton. patrick

Technician was scheduled ahead of time, he was on time, and was very knowledgeable about the problems. Did not try and sell me something I didn't need, even recommended replacing the while dishwasher rather than repairing die to the cost of the past. Did have them repair my refrigerator though. He knew exactly what caused the problem, ordered it, and returned to fix it. Will defiantly use them in the future and have already recommended them to friends.

I would definitely recommend Jack! He was efficient and very pleasant. He tested the dishwasher for any leaks, made sure to show us his work, and made the adjustments we wanted. He did a great job! He really deserves a 4.5 stars!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
