Sachin S. says, "Update: Daniel reached out to me after the review to perform touch ups and address any issues we had. I am very happy with his professionalism and commitment to do a good job. I would highly recommend Daniel and his crew, and will hire them again. Orginial Review: We had our baseboards, doors, door frames, and our staircase railing all painted by Daniel and his crew. The work took about 4 days. The stairs look amazing, and the baseboards and doors look good as well, however we did have to inspect ourselves and give feedback to the crew throughout the process that some spots were missed or the paint was on the walls etc. On the last day there were 2 rooms that they had forgotten to paint the baseboards for, and we realized just as they were leaving our house. They did come back to paint those two rooms but the work was rushed, when we inspected the house later we saw that the baseboards paint was not as clean and was visible on the walls above the baseboards. Overall the work was good for the price and we are happy with the work."See more

Alex P. says, "Interior painting is something that has been on our to-do list for years. My husband didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on it and I was so indecisive on the color and afraid of the prep work that we put it off until I finally couldn’t stand my dark tan ceiling and walls any longer. I got quotes from 6 companies and the prices ranged from $2,000 to $4,300 doe the same job! We didn’t mind paying the middle ground, though Hill Country Painting came in as one of the lowest. Though there were a couple of other companies that I liked, Hill Country Painting said that they could finish the job in two days or less. The other companies estimated 3-4 days. We have two little kids and I couldn’t imagine the house being out of sorts for 4 days, so we went with Hill County. The team is very professional and cognizant of Covid-19 guidelines which was very important to me. They came right on time (even a little early but they waited to knock to give me enough time to get my dogs calm and comfortable!) and a team of 3 men completed the entire job in ONE DAY! Not only did they do a phenomenal job on the painting (they roll, not spray!), they also filled nail holes, patched the spot where our old alarm system used to be, and removed our blinds to effectively paint inside our windows. To say I’m impressed is an understatement. I will absolutely use them for our future projects."See more

Paul K. says, "José provided us with a wide range of services over a period of several months. He removed our 26 yr old privacy fence and installed and stained a new one. He removed trash trees along that fence line and in our flower beds. He removed dead plants from the beds and installed a drip irrigation system and assisted in planting new plants and flowers. He and his crew cut down a large Hackberry tree in the greenbelt just on the other side of our fence line. He installed an automatic sprinkler system in our front & back yard and dug a French drain to alleviate ponding in our back & side yard. On a rental property i acquired José and his crew cleared a large 1/2 acre yard of debris and foliage that had grown up over a period of ten years. They trimmed a dozen or more large oak trees and removed several smaller trees. They cleaned out and improved a large flower bed and planted several plants. I will use José again in the future and I highly recommend him."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should a house be pressure washed?

The best rule of thumb is to pressure wash your house once per year at minimum. This is largely dependent on your city's weather and climate, however. If you get a lot of rain, wind and storms, you probably need to clean more frequently than once per year. Wetter climates with regular rain and storms can lead to a lot of humidity, buildup and debris, which could also cause mold and mildew.

You should also consider pressure washing your home if you’re planning to repaint your home’s exterior or if you want to boost your home’s curb appeal to prospective buyers.

Contact the best pressure washers near you to schedule regular appointments.

Is it worth it to hire a professional pressure washer?

Yes, it’s often worth it to hire a pro to pressure wash your house or other surfaces. The main benefits of hiring a professional pressure washer include the pro’s ability to clean without damaging your home (removing the risk for personal injury) and their ability to spot problems before they occur.

With DIY pressure washing, you can save money and get familiar with your house’s nooks and crannies. However, you run the risk of damaging your siding and your paint, falling off a ladder, hurting yourself with the high-pressure water and not spotting problems that an experienced pro would be able to spot.

Contact the top-rated pressure washing services near you to figure out if hiring a pro is the best option for you.

Is it worth it to hire a gutter cleaning service?

It’s almost always worth the money to hire a professional to clean your gutters, especially if you’re unable to clean your gutters yourself.

Because your gutters see a lot of debris and abuse from Mother Nature, it’s essential to keep up with maintenance. Gutter cleaning is not terribly expensive, but it’s risky — working at the height of a gutter is dangerous. A professional gutter cleaner not only has experience, but also has insurance to cover any injuries. A pro also has the equipment and know-how to keep gutters in top shape and remove clogs from long downspouts.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost to hire an interior painter ranges between $200-$2,700. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls.

Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does landscaping cost per square foot?

The cost of landscaping can vary widely based on the type of plants you wish to have, the amount of grading required, the condition of the land before work begins, and other factors. Adding in designer or high-end landscaping, as well as hardscaping such as sidewalks, walls, or patios will add to the cost. To find out how much your landscaping will cost, contact landscapers near you.

How much should interior painting cost per square foot?

You can expect a 12x12-foot average room with 8-foot ceilings to cost $100 to paint, while a 16x16-foot room with 9-foot ceilings could cost around $175.

To calculate the cost of interior painting per square foot, measure the square footage of wall space and ceiling space of your room. From this, you can estimate the number of gallons of paint needed to cover the wall space and compare it to these figures. You can also ask interior painters near you to provide an estimate before you hire them.

What surfaces can be cleaned with a pressure washer?

You can safely use a pressure washer on a number of different surfaces, including your home’s exterior, siding, driveways, rooftops, sidewalks, patios and more.

It can also be used to clean grills, outdoor furniture, cars and trucks, boats, bikes, fences and decks. You can generally clean any hard outdoor walking surface, including asphalt, concrete, brick and pavers with a pressure washer.

However, it’s possible to damage your property — especially wood and vinyl surfaces — if you don’t use the pressure washer correctly. Consider hiring a top-rated pressure washing service near you if you don’t have experience using the equipment and selecting the correct PSI.

What is the best time of year to pressure wash your house?

A warm, sunny day is the best time of year to pressure wash your house. The warm sun will be able to dry out the house after washing. You should also consider pressure washing your home after the rainy, storm season has passed. Depending on where you live, this might be in the spring, summer or early fall.

Contact the best pressure washing services and pros to determine the best time to wash your home, and schedule an appointment.

How do you tell if your fridge is broken?

Use your nose — and ears — to tell if your fridge is broken and it’s time to call a pro.

The first clue is whether your food is expiring too quickly. Your fridge should be at or below 40º Fahrenheit and your freezer should be at 0º, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. If temperatures deviate from these figures, the result can be food spoilage (from too much warmth) or even a frost buildup (from a faulty freezer).

Other telltale signs that your refrigerator is broken are excessive noise, escalating electric bills and excessive heat from the back of the fridge.

If you think your fridge might be broken, don’t delay — contact the top appliance repair technicians near you today.

How much does it cost to haul off junk?

The average cost to haul away junk is $150, though this price can be expected to vary between around $75 and $375, depending on several factors.

The first factor is the quantity of junk removed. Most junk removal services charge by the truckload, and most residential projects only require filling up part of a truckload.

Another factor is the type of junk. E-waste like computers and TVs may cost more to dispose of, as will more hazardous materials like mercury, paint and used motor oil. It also may cost more to remove big items like beds and couches.
