we hired Dan to work on plumbing repair after we removed an old sink cabinetry replaced with a new pedestal sink. He has done an excellent job by hiding the exposed pipes and drainage with new sheetrock and best of all he fixed a broken sewer flap the common issue for old house. We are very happy with his work and free from the sticking smell!

As soon as Jay arrived, he got down to business and quickly diagnosed the issue, had all the necessary parts with him and made the necessary repairs in about an hour. I will be calling Jay for my next appliance repair. He is an appliance expert and I highly recommend him!

Well, well. Nice to know there are professionals out there who are attentive, caring and who go above and beyond their call of duty! David Jones came to my home to repair a toilet issue and did so promptly and with care. Even though I trusted he did the job well, he made me check it out and explained to me how the toilet was supposed to work, what to do and what not to do. THEN....he even took the time to look at more issues in my home that I needed help with. He's a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy and I think that's great! And could not beat his cost anywhere😊

I have been doing business with Tyler and Tonya Adkins since 2013. Excellent customer and quality service for a fair price. Trust his recommendations on any appliance and service. If Tyler does not service something, he usually knows someone who does and is not hesitant to make recommendations. Fine folks whp provide fine service.

I had 3 doors that were not sealing properly and were then leaking in to our garage or house every time it rained. Robert didn't jump to any conclusions on what might be wrong, but came and walked through it all before making recommendations for repairs. He was very flexible on time and fit our ASAP deadline. He's also come back since to do some extra sealing. Great work!

Greg was great, he really knows his Samsung appliances. We called him for our dishwasher and while here he also fixed our Samsung fridge. I had been cleaning up water for a month and never could figure where it was coming from. He knew exactly where it was coming from and how to fix. He also fixed the dishwasher same trip. I would hire him again and will be telling all my friends about him. Very easy, nice, and knowledgeable.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
