Arrived on time. The installation went quickly. Did a good job except he didn't put in the lights. Left it open for me to do later. Maybe that's the standard in the garage door industry, but if I'm doing a job, I'm going to complete it.

Justin and Russ were great to work with. I had a garage door opener installed. They worked timely and did great work in a short period of time. In addition they programmed several neighborhood gate clickers for me as well as some other neighbors. Justin gave me his personal cell to address any invoicing and appointment issues my HOA was having. Russ walked me through the programming and features of the new opener as well as warned me about a spring issue I currently have I will be using them again in the future for garage door needs

I would highly recommend Performance Garage should you have any garage door issues. Jesse was quick and efficient installing my new garage door opener, and he even went as far as to give me temporary parts to hold me over until the new unit arrived. I appreciate him and will not be calling anyone else should I ever have any other issues.

They showed up when they said they would. Cost was within my budget. The doors, tracks and openers were installed in a few hours. They look great and add so much to our exterior as well as quiet and warmer in the garage. The technicians tweaked the pad installation as we needed. They were on time, professional and courteous. I give them 5 stars. My only ding on performance was filling up our rolling recycle bin with intact noses that we had to pull out and break down. I thought the boxes would have been hauled away.

Ever did a great job repairing the ceiling drywall/sheetrock in my garage. He was on time and got the work done quickly. The drywall was starting to fall down from the ceiling in various areas and he was able to repair it and fix the seams so it looks like a brand new ceiling. We were so impressed with the work that while he was there we asked if he could give us a quote to replace our back door and the frame where some of the wood is damaged. I highly recommend Ever and obviously would hire him again.

A Door Done Right did an amazing job at fixing the garage door my husband drove into. He was able to answer all my questions and give me a very reasonable price for the work being done. I never felt I was being oversold. They were punctual, efficient, and very professional. My garage door looks like new and my husband is no longer allowed to park in reverse but if he ever does.... I know who to call!!!

Really fast service. Our garage door was crooked after I put too much stuff on the shelf under the garage door rail. Ruben answered to my request at 9 pm and come next day at 10:00. The repair took him approximately 40 minutes and cost me little bit more than was estimated at the beginning but I fully satisfied.

Jeff listened to my concerns with the uneven gap that remained when the garage was down which would invite pests esp with the colder months. He quickly and precisely assessed the situation and adjusted the entire system to remedy this problem. Reliable! Intelligent! Professional! Problem-solving at its finest! When I thanked him he said his goal is to create "value" for all his customers.....I think he's inVALUABLE!!! In just under a week I have given his name out to several of my friends and neighbors. Thanks Jeff...will be calling you when I need the new motor!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you fix a broken garage door?

Garage door problems don’t have to mean the end of the world. Garage door repair is typically a one-day process and can be done for only a few hundred dollars. Common garage door repair requests include fixing slow or erratic garage doors, addressing strange sounds coming from the garage door or motor, fixing cosmetic damage such as dents or scrapes, repairing broken doors that are stuck open or closed, and troubleshooting inoperable doors.

The two main garage door operating mechanisms are sectional roll-ups or tilt-ups. Garage door repair services can fix single-car, double-car or RV-height doors. Your garage door may be made of wood, steel, aluminum, masonite, vinyl, fiberglass or another material. The type of garage door repair you need really depends on the type of garage door you have and the issue at hand. Garage door repair pros often charge a flat service call fee to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate. For customers who choose to have the repair done, the service call fee may be applied to the first hour of labor (including time to make the diagnosis). If your garage door is under warranty, the repair may be free of charge.

How much does it cost to get a garage door fixed?

The national average for garage door repair cost is between $80 and $110. Some of the factors that affect your garage door repair cost are the type of springs (most often torsion or extension), the size and weight of the door, and the door material. Many garage door pros will charge a service fee to visit your house and determine the problem. Often, the service fee includes a set amount of labor. One example of this is an $80 service fee that includes the first hour of work plus testing and inspecting your garage door and garage door opener, while another pro may charge $150 for the same standard service call.

Broken or jammed springs are a common problem. In one example, the starting price for spring repair was $99, while another pro’s cost started at $185. The $185 starting price included $40 for transportation costs, $60 for parts, and $85 per hour of labor. Professionals may charge extra for late-night garage door repair emergencies.

How much is it to replace a garage door panel?

Replacing a garage door panel can add significantly to the cost of a garage door repair. Panels run horizontally on sectional roll-up garage doors. They may be made of wood, vinyl, aluminum, fiberglass or steel. Garage door panels can become damaged from hail and other extreme weather, dents and dings, car accidents, and age. When deciding if you want to replace a garage door panel, it’s helpful to compare the potential repair cost to the cost of a new garage door. Panel replacement requires a pro with the proper tools as well as the new parts. With parts and labor you could be paying more than $500 for one new panel. In comparison, a new garage door may cost $800-$1,200 (on average) with installation. If there is a possibility your garage door was structurally compromised when the panel was damaged, have the pro assess whether it’s better to completely remove and replace the door, rails and framework to ensure your home’s safety. It may also be better to completely replace your door if it is severely rusted or dented; if the paint is peeling and fading; if the door model is outdated or you can’t find replacement panels; or if the panels or rails are structurally compromised.

How much should it cost to replace a garage door cable?

If your garage door is not opening or has become jammed, you may need to replace the garage door cables. Unless you have the proper tools and know-how, this is a job best left to a professional due to the weight of the garage door and the extreme tension of the springs. The cost of repair will vary depending on your location, the length of the cables you need, and the time it takes the pro to do the replacement.

From a big-box store, basic garage door cables can run between $8 and $20, depending on the product. Your pro may charge you a different cost if they provide the cables. Your cables may not need to be replaced if they have simply come off the track, but broken cables will need to be completely removed and replaced. In either instance, the pros will need to secure or take down the door; unwind the springs; reset or replace the rollers, cables, and drums; and then wind the springs once more. For example, a pro could reset cables that have come off the track for $129.99. The average national cost for a garage door repair specialist is $80 - $110 per hour and the typical cost to replace a broken garage door cable is anywhere from $130 to $200.

How much does it cost to get a new garage door?

A new garage door can add serious curb appeal, not to mention myriad home safety benefits. The cost of a new garage door will vary based on the type of garage door you want and the materials it will be made of. You can purchase a new garage door and have the pros install it for you, but proceed with caution as many installers won’t guarantee their labor if you didn’t purchase the garage door through their company. A new door (without installation) may cost anywhere from $200 to $4,000 or more, depending on size, brand and materials. Here are some examples of average new garage door costs, including installation:

    • Raised-panel, insulated,16x7 garage door: $1,100
      • Without insulation: about $900
    • Raised-panel, insulated, 8x7: $700
      • Without insulation: $550
    • Carriage-house 16x7 garage door with stamped-steel design: $1,500
    • Carriage-house 8x7 garage door with stamped-steel design: $1,000
      • A carriage-house garage door is a barn-style door with handles and hinges; it looks like it pulls out in the style of a barn door but is actually a roll-up.
    • Carriage-house 16x7 garage door with steel and faux-wood overlay: $3,500
    • Carriage-house 8x7 garage door with steel and faux-wood overlay: $2,000–$2,200
    • Solid-wood cedar or mahogany 16x7 garage door with window in top panels: $5,000
    • Solid-wood cedar or mahogany 8x7 garage door with window in top panels: $3,500
