I've been learning from Georgie for about five weeks. I have no guitar or music background and I am well into my 50's. We started at the very beginning....music theory 101. It has been a very fast five weeks and I have struggled at times to keep up. Learning to read music, count, play notes can be a little overwhelming. Through it all, Georgie has been an absolute professional. He's patient, firm, and expects his students to invest the same effort into learning as he puts into teaching. He is exactly the instructor I was looking for and he is covering the content I wanted to learn. I am very confident in his methods of teaching guitar and look forward to our lessons each week. If you have ever wanted to play the guitar or have been trying to learn on your own, contact Georgie. You won't be disappointed.

Michael will not only teach you proper mechanics, he will teach you ways to improve upon the "typical" ways of playing to free those fingers up to do more! I have had a couple lessons with him and will have more! I am a musician but only a rough beginner at guitar. I had 15-20 lessons years ago with another master, Dick Gordon Jr. in Tulsa, OK and working with Michael will be a great way to follow those up and get back into learning. He also enjoys helping people to learn to play the songs they want to play in just about any style.

I currently take piano lessons and Liam is my teacher. I have learned so much with him thanks to the motivation and excellence in his way of teaching. He has absolutely never been late to any of the lessons scheduled. Although classes are 30 minutes long, my improvement in piano has been noticed greatly. I would absolutely recommend lessons with Liam due to his great patience, flexibility with schedules, and outstanding teacher.

Miriam is the definition of a teacher. Her zealous attitude towards your curriculum incites passion for learning. Your material is tailored to your speed and future goals. This is what I love about learning piano from Miriam. If you are struggling with concepts, it will be addressed in the assignments. If your goals require a certain specialization, like speed or stamina, new exercises can be added. If you hire her, you sign up for an adaptable curriculum that makes the process of learning piano more personal.

I'm glad to have my boys to be taking lessons from a male teacher (which gives them a different perspective and experience). It's also motivating for them to see Kyle playing at church.

Michael is quite proficient in both his own abilities on guitar and also his ability to teach. He is patient, and happy to answer all my questions which I appreciate as an intermediate-level guitarist. He was happy to tailor my lessons to specific areas that I already knew I wanted to address, as opposed to forcing me into a highly structured, pre-determined lesson plan, which again I appreciate. I highly recommend Michael for anyone looking to become a better guitar player and musician.

I've been taking lessons with Richard Stuart for just a little over six months now and all I can say is that he is an amazing instructor. He hasn't followed a set one size fits all script in his lessons but has instead worked with my musical interests and at my pace in a way that is truly valuable. He has also kept things fun, interesting, and engaging even at times when I've felt overwhelmed and discouraged. This is an instructor that is truly adaptable to his students and will make sure that they get the most out of their lessons. I would definitely recommend him to anybody that truly wants to unlock their musical potential.

Pete is awesome! I started taking lessons from him just over a year ago. Having had no formal training prior, he was able to teach me a version of Ben folds’ the luckiest which I then played for my wife on our wedding day just a few short months later. He works with you to make sure you know the basics but also keeps it fun. It’s been clear from the start that he has a passion for music as well as the patience and enthusiasm for anyone seeking to learn more about the instrument and music in general. Highly recommend.

I have been apart of the music industry for awhile now. About two years ago I decided to improve my vocal range and ability. I sought out this studio from high recommendations of their vocal coaching. Upon meeting my coach, I instantly felt welcome. He dove right in and was able to improve my sound by 100 percent with in the first lesson. This isn't an exaggeration. In one hour of time, my coach was able to single out some habits that inhibited my sound, give me work arounds, and ultimately improve my pitch and range. The level of knowledge and instruction is superior. It is refreshing to be tutored and taught by not only a signed recording artist who has exceptional talent, but by someone who is classically trained. One the sound quality side of things, the studio takes great pride in straying up to date in the equipment, software, and knowledge on how to use it. The engineers and producers on staff can provide a radio ready sound for any genre you are looking for. Since the beginning of my most recent album, Addict of Sounds Studios has been a huge part of the project the entire way. Bottom line is this: Coaching Producing Recording Mixing Mastering... All for reasonable prices with remarkable results. I highly recommend Addict of Sounds Studios -Khaotic Chris

The Sound Foundation has been outstanding to us, especially my son. Norman has done everything possible to see that my son receives his guitar lessons. The Sound Foundation makes you feel at home. He is the most friendliest guy I have met and also, super understanding. My son has learned a lot from his instructor and has picked up some skills. Thank you The Sound Foundation!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

  • Asthma attack
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Heart attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head or back injury
  • Stroke
  • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

What do you learn in a first aid course?

First aid training gives you a variety of lifesaving skills for responding to many different emergency situations. In a first aid course you’ll learn about how to examine someone who’s been hurt, how to use a defibrillator, how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to control bleeding and trauma. Some courses include pediatric first aid as well as adult first aid; helping a choking infant, for example, is different from helping a choking adult. Although you can take CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) courses separately, most first aid training includes both.

In a first aid course you’ll also learn how to respond to:

  • Wounds, including punctures, cuts and hemorrhages
  • Heart attacks, chest pain and respiratory arrest
  • Bone fractures, sprains and torn muscles
  • First-, second- and third-degree burns
  • Poisoning
  • Choking
  • Bites and stings
  • Hypothermia or frostbite
  • Shock and seizures
