I took lessons with Jon in Spring of 2016. Jon is a masterful guitar player and I enjoyed learning guitar from him. Jon taught me the chords for "Simple Man", "Freebird", "Let it Be", "Wish you were here" and "Hotel California". I can play these songs now. He is a patient and a professional instructor and we always started our lessons on time. I recommend him.

Even though I had played guitar for years, I didn't know how to read music. Plus, I just felt like I wasn't progressing very much. Michael has been able to interpret my skill level and customize lessons for me that have enabled me to do things I hadn't been able to do before. In just a few months, I have learned a lot and I have a much better understanding about why/what I'm playing on the guitar, and I've become a lot quicker and cleaner on solos. Not to mention, I am learning to read the music that before I had to try and play by ear. Michael has a great attitude and will meet you "where you are" on the guitar to help you rise to the next level. I look forward to every lesson.

Dennis comes across as genuinely interested in improving my skill set. Extremely patient. 2x I have had to interrupt lessons to handle a job or family related issue and he was understanding and accommodating. Very relaxed in his approach but also seems very knowledgeable.

I am a more advanced adult student who has played piano for 17 years but only took lessons for 10 years. I wanted to begin lessons again as an adult to improve my skills. I knew I wanted a teacher who would be very traditional and teach a variety Classical music. Liam has definitely met and exceeded my expectations. When we first met we talked about my goals and what I wanted to improve on and he picked 2 pieces in different styles that were slightly above my current ability level. I was surprised at how quickly I improved once I started my lessons with Liam. He is very focused during our lessons, which I appreciate to make the most of the time we have. He addresses technical challenges, style of playing, and provides a cultural context for the pieces I'm playing. I would highly recommend him to other advanced students looking to continue their piano study. In my own experience, I have improved more in 4 months with Liam than I have in 4 years practicing on my own.

Let me preface this all by saying my goal for learning a language is to attain mastery such that I can communicate in all aspects of reading, writing, speaking, listening to a level that is comparable of a native speaker (with reasonable exceptions of course). Previously I had attended several in person learning institutions like a community college, a university, and private in-person tutoring to help me get to an intermediate level. So, in researching other alternatives I was hesitant to pursue telecommuted lessons as I was worried there would be aspects that are not adequately or as easily achieved via in-person teaching. Fluency Corp is a fantastic organization that has ameliorated all of these concerns and done so in an exceptional fashion! The teacher I was paired with is incredibly intelligent, very facilitating, and creates graded work that is at my specific learning level. Additionally any issues we encounter in learning is emphasized in future lessons so that I can hammer out the issues I was experiencing. I purchased 100 hours of education and have been thoroughly please with the experience. So much so that I'm actively looking to see if I can help my spouse participate in this process. I would absolutely recommend it to a friend or family member, and even strangers. The only negative concern I have is that "Fluency Corp" sounds like an evil corporation from a movie. It absolutely is not evil, and is a fantastic organization, however the name just has that kind of feeling to me :)

I contacted several competitors prior & they would take long to reply. Zera was not. They responded quickly, politely, & set things up very easily. No back & forth. They have a good interactive site. You can pay online. Very easy people to work with. As far as the lessons, my son is liking it, he looks forward to his lessons every week. I cant ask for more. He is learning bass guitar with Jordan.

My entire family has had a wonderful experience with lessons from Pete. He is patient, kind, warm and instructs in a clear manner. My daughter is loving piano and growing every week. Pete goes out of his way to be kind and gentle and lends himself to teaching snippets to my other little ones whenever they are close during lessons (as they are always interested!) We cannot say enough about this great teacher. Do yourself a favor and hire Pete today!

I have been apart of the music industry for awhile now. About two years ago I decided to improve my vocal range and ability. I sought out this studio from high recommendations of their vocal coaching. Upon meeting my coach, I instantly felt welcome. He dove right in and was able to improve my sound by 100 percent with in the first lesson. This isn't an exaggeration. In one hour of time, my coach was able to single out some habits that inhibited my sound, give me work arounds, and ultimately improve my pitch and range. The level of knowledge and instruction is superior. It is refreshing to be tutored and taught by not only a signed recording artist who has exceptional talent, but by someone who is classically trained. One the sound quality side of things, the studio takes great pride in straying up to date in the equipment, software, and knowledge on how to use it. The engineers and producers on staff can provide a radio ready sound for any genre you are looking for. Since the beginning of my most recent album, Addict of Sounds Studios has been a huge part of the project the entire way. Bottom line is this: Coaching Producing Recording Mixing Mastering... All for reasonable prices with remarkable results. I highly recommend Addict of Sounds Studios -Khaotic Chris

Super flexible, very patient, kind, and his teaching style is fantastic. I would recommend Stan for all levels of players. If you are looking for a piano instructor, Stan is the man.

I began taking guitar lessons from Kenneth when I was 14, and right away, I noticed his ability to mold the lesson into an experience that fit 𝘮𝘺 musical interests and what I wanted to learn. Whether I wanted to learn theory, practice a certain technique or rudiment, or just have fun learning a song, Kenneth could always adapt and make the lesson interesting and enriching. This is a quality that many music teachers lack, and it’s the aspect of his teaching that kept me enticed for so long. In addition to being a great teacher, Kenneth is a passionate music fan of many different genres, and through taking lessons with him, I was exposed to many new musical concepts that opened my eyes to the world of music I was yet to discover. Though I no longer take lessons, I can say for sure that my time with Kenneth has made me a much more skilled, receptive and well rounded musician, and I am very thankful for all the things I learned.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

  • Asthma attack
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Heart attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head or back injury
  • Stroke
  • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

What can you do with a first aid certificate?

People with a first aid certificate are trained to respond quickly and appropriately in life-threatening situations. Although a first aid certificate alone isn’t enough to secure a job, it can make you more attractive to certain types of potential employers. When you have a first aid certificate, you’ve proved that you know how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and handle emergency situations like choking, heavy bleeding, a heart attack or stroke, or anaphylaxis. Most parents prefer babysitters and lifeguards with first aid certification. Many professionals, especially those who work with children, are required to have first aid training, including teachers, coaches, counselors and therapists, firefighters, and social workers. In addition to adult and pediatric first aid plus CPR and AED courses, you can take first aid training specifically designed for babysitting and child care, for health care settings, and for swimming and water safety situations..
