I scheduled our move with short notice, no problem there. The movers arrived 10 minutes early, excellent! Both movers were friendly and did a nice job wrapping up our furniture. We had one piece come apart on the dolly - it was a two piece unit that should've been moved any way except on a dolly but the mover couldn't have known and I didn't see until it was too late. It's not a high dollar piece and can be easily fixed so I didn't make a fuss. The moving truck backed down the wrong part of our driveway after receiving direction to stay in front of the house and the truck snagged a low hanging power line, pulling our power meter off of the house (the whole reason I wanted him to avoid the driveway). The owner (per his business card) came over to see the damage and told me they would pay to have it fixed. I called an electrician, got it repaired, sent a receipt and copy of the cleared check to the owner and I had a check in the mail 5 days later. Also, I was quoted an hourly price on Thumbtack. I called the company to schedule the move and was quoted a price $10/hour higher. I mentioned the price on Thumbtack and she logged in to verify. Once she saw the quote, she honored the lower hourly price. This was my first experience using a mover. There were two hiccups but I wasn't left with a sour taste in my mouth as both were resolved. I would use them again in the future.

Thomas and his crew called to let me know they were on their way and they arrived on time! Each member of the team introduced themselves to me and my husband before work began. Very professional. I loved the five person team, because we moved from a 4 story townhouse and they could split up and get several things done at once. I also liked the flat fee quote as opposed to an hourly fee. My only concern was that they didn't wrap art work or tv's. They did place them in the cab of a truck, not the moving van. Nothing damaged, but movers in the past have wrapped such items. All said, I recommend Elite Movers.

My family and I were moving to the Fort Worth area and we needed some help unloading our huge moving truck. With very short notice and a rather late arrival time (5p.m.) A to Z agreed to help. The two gentleman who showed up had already worked an entire day moving other folks. When they showed up, they worked hard and did all they could to get our truck unloaded in the time they had. Great Value!

We had Aaron and Caleb moving a variety of office furniture around for 5 hours one afternoon. They were very careful and did not damage any of the furniture or the walls and doorways. They worked hard and took instructions very well. I will use them again next time I need some muscle to help around the office.

They were prompt and came home as already confirmed. They went about their job the moment they came in without wasting a moment and also accommodated few requests of moving the furniture to a different apartment without charging extra for it. Though I had to pay extra to them coz I made the mistake on my part in communicating wrongly the Floor# where it has to be taken out from and should be moved to. But thats the issue on my part. Overall I am well satisfied with the services provided by them.

They did a great job. hustled and packed the moving van like tetris experts. Only gave 4 stars cause they were over an hour late, but traffic in our area of town is awful. I'd recommend them, but build in extra time to your move out plan.

I used Youngstars moving to help me pack up and move my elderly aunt's belongings into a storage facility. I was under pressure to accomplish this in a specific window of time. Alex and Eddy showed up on time introduced themselves and took the time to discuss the move. I explained that Ineeded the contents separated so that certain items could be accessed from the storage facility . They proformed above my highest expectations. They were professional and conscientious with boxes that where family treasures. We accomplished the entire move in a matter of hours, nothing was damaged and the price was exactly what was given to me before the job. I would use them again and recommend them to all my friends.

I have had my fair share of horrible moving experiences and expected nothing less than that when I hired Big Tex Movers to move me from Burleson to downtown Dallas TX. Imagine how pleasantly surprised I was from the moment I started speaking with the owner, Andy, via Thumbtack. He was extremely professional, pleasant, and straight forward. It seemed too good to be true! Then when my movers arrived, I met Patrick and Christopher and they did an amazing job! They were hustling the entire time. Running from the truck to the pick up, never stopping, never sluggish. They were well groomed, polite and very kind. They took extra care of my belongings, like they belonged to them. These hard working gentleman did this for 5 hours straight! None of my furniture or belongings were damaged and there were no hidden fees. What I was quoted by Andy was exactly what I paid. They charged by the minute! That is unheard of in their industry. I highly recommend this moving company if you're in need of an honest, hard-working moving company. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone in the Dallas area. Thank you so much Andy, Patrick and Christopher!!! Y'all made my move so easy! A++++++++++++++++++

Everything was so systematic and orderly. CJ and Dustin who moved our stuff were super nice, courteous, quick and careful with handling all the stuff. I would highly recommend them and look forward to working with them in the future. Thank you so much you guys!

Mona Lisa moving is one of the best moving company I ever hired. They did however qouted me wrong but quite honestly they charged me a very reasonable price. I do agree they qouted me quite low for the job it took to move my stuff at first so it was very fair they charged me more later. They care about my furniture very much. I have a 5000$+ bed and dresser which they took the time and care to move it. They wrapped it good and even took it apart and assemble it for me. Very nice people and easy to work with. Moving is big stress and headaches. Save yourself the trouble and hire the professional Mona Lisa moving company. You will not be dissapointed. My furniture arrived looking like they did before. Thanks again Mona Lisa! Oh and they come with a spanking new huge moving truck. You know how most moving company come in a bang up sqeeking truck? Not them! Will use them again if I ever need to move anything.

Brian (the owner of Texas Trend Services) moved my family cross-country from Dallas, TX to Providence, RI. Getting quotes for moving was stressful, but Brian made it easy for us. After we communicated about what we wanted, he came to our apartment to look at how much stuff we had to get an estimate. His estimate was very fair. We packed the boxes ourselves, but he packed up our TVs, clothes, art, and wrapped our dressers/storage drawers so we didn't have to pack those away in boxes. He also took apart our bed and wrapped our mattress. The day of the move he arrived at the agreed upon time and had out apartment packed up within three hours. He kept us aware of his progress (it only took him three days so we weren't stranded and waiting for our stuff) and arrived with all of our stuff. He unpacked the truck and moved the boxes/furniture where we wanted them. He also unpacked our closet and reassembled our bed. He did a great job and our move was relatively hassle-free. I definitely recommend him for any moving services.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
