Faye is an awesome tutor! She helped me write my personal statement essay for the optometry school application process. We worked on 2 essays and completed both in a matter of one and a half weeks. She is very flexible and was ready to work with my hectic schedule. She is very sincere and it is clear she enjoys her line of work. I personally love my essays, because I wrote them. I one-hundred percent believe in my story depicted in my personal statement. Faye isn't like other tutors, where she will output an essay after a consultation; rather, she works with you to make sure the story is coming from within. Faye is especially useful in that she has an interview process to get out all the ideas from the writer, and helps to translate that into a written answer. I thoroughly enjoyed and definitely benefited from her consultation services, and would highly recommend her!

Suzanne is a creative and talented freelance illustrator. We were brought together through a web browser search but the relationship has grown to a collaborative partnership at its finest. While it is one thing to be an excellent artist, it is another to understand and interpret the voice of the client (author)—and Suzanne has done both for my book project. From the very first written description I sent to Suzanne, she “heard my innermost humorous voice!” She was successful in translating my brief description on the first iteration. Suzanne has sense created and delivered 24 high-quality and hilarious illustrations, which have exceeded my expectations. During the creative process she quickly made minor edits and continuously collaborated with me until each illustrations was to my satisfaction. Suzanne even provided creative suggestions to strength the subtleness of several of my illustrations. The work that Suzanne has done for me is noteworthy and I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with professional of her caliber, skills, and talent. I would recommended Suzanne for any future projects without hesitation and plan to continue our working relationship well into the future. Services include: * Web design * Web development * Logo design * Identity * Search engine optimization * Business card design - Identity Your identity is the most important thing about your business. In a nutshell, it tells the public what you are about and who you are. There is no margin for error here. Your identity can be as unstable as the wind unless you clearly distinguish yourself from the pack. Your marketing deserves to be as individual as your own thumbprint. You might think that you have got the projection on the market, and then you might be a new start-up company fresh out of the gates again. Either way, you are in business today, and it's up to us to keep you in business tomorrow. Bring it on. You are who your customers see you to be, and you are not who you say you are. Is it time to set them straight? - SEO Consulting Why should I hire an SEO agency and SEO service for my SEO marketing project? A large number of industries have a website on the internet, but there is no one visiting it because search engines do not value it in searches. SEO agencies link your website with a better position in search engines. Search engine optimization consultants concentrate on driving traffic to your site through search engines. Work is done to enhance your ranking when a user is looking for a term relevant to what you do. Agencies evaluate and test different key methods of increasing search engine ranking positions through proving different methods and research. Search engines are continuously changing, and so are the methods to enhance search engine ranking positions. What should I ask a SEO consultant, enterprise SEO expert? What major industries does your agency normally service? How does my industry of practice fall into your experience and expertise? How often will you be able to give us with reports? How often will we be able to discuss and meet the progress of the project? Who will handle my account? Ask the agency for more details about the services they offer, their case studies, along with references you can talk to. Search engine optimization services may take time to make an effect in major search engines. Listen to their input on deadlines and goals, and communicate your desires with the agency.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

  • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
  • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
  • Expertise in your target area.
  • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

  • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
  • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
  • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
  • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.
