Joe Janssen and Quick Roofing have been my roofing company for 2 years, after my roof needing replacing due to leaks. My roof looks great, and he's called and reinspected every now and then over the two years. I have nothing but good things to say. I recommend him highly.

My roofing repair was a small one, but Matt managed to squeeze me into his busy schedule. When it rained last week my roof didn't leak. He did an excellent job of clean up also. His price was reasonable. I want him to come back and fix my damaged cieling now.

I wanted to remodel my business, including adding new offices, painting, and some electric work. I began taking estimates and finally chose CARSA Construction & Roofing and I am super glad I did. CJ and his partner Alfredo were always prompt, courteous and informative. They are very competitive and do quality work. I have used them to remodel my restroom at home and would highly recommend them!

I hired Infinity Roofing to work on my home from the recent hail storms from March 2016. The initial contact from Josh the project manager was amazing. He was very professional and walked me through the entire process. If I had any questions once the work began he just a phone call away. This was important to me due to my recent experience with another company. From the outside work to the inside work the workers were great as well and picked up after themselves. I would recommend Infinity Roofing as a profession company. Thanks guys for the great work and professionalism!!!! Ms. Talib

I own a realistate firm and was told about honestroof by an employee. Was a little skeptical at first because of the online estimate but it turned out to not only be real but extremely accurate. In fact, it was more accurate then the other companies that would actually visit my properties. I decided to hire them and gave them a shot. By far the best roofing company I have ever seen. I’ve sent them over 30 roofs so far. Will never use anyone else.

Ready Roofing was really great. Jeff and the workers are professional and good at communication. I had my first insurance check and offered it to Jeff after I had my first meeting with him and signed up. He politely refused it, saying he wouldn't accept a penny from me until the work was 100% finished and I was 100% satisfied. I had talked to two other roofing companys before, and both wanted money up front. This was a nice change and put my mind at ease. Thanks Jeff!

The entire team at Coxco was excellent to work with. The owner, Marcus, assisted us throughout the entire process. We’ve had negative experiences with roofers in the past and we’re hesitant but everything that was promised was delivered. We had a new roof and fence installed by Coxco and couldn’t be more satisfied! Thank you Marcus for taking care of us!

This is the first time having to deal with insurance and getting my roof replaced I truly thought it was going to be such headache. It wasnt at all, Linear Roofing was so professional and beyond helpful. I was very impressed with the experience level and they walked me through the hole process and all I had to do was sit back and relax no stress. My roof looks amazing, so amazing I will endorse them to anyone I know. Thank you soooo much. I tell all my friends what a great job they did.

Unfortunately, the sellers of the home we purchased went with another company. Forte Roofing came out and provided a quote. They were quick and thorough! After we purchase this home, there are a few renovations we would like to do. Because of the professionalism and attention to detail, we are considering hiring Forte for the renovations.

Leftlane Roofing has done a great job. Our initial call was returned promptly and a time for an estimate scheduled. A thorough inspection of the roof was done and different options were offered and discussed. When the crew came out to do the work they were quick and efficient. No mess was left.

Brookstone came as a referral from my neighbor so right from the start I had high expectations. But when Fred showed up he was on time and very knowledgeable. My insurance company miscalculated the quote and Brookstone did the work anyway and billed my insurance company directly for the items the insurance company missed. the guys they sent out to install my roof were awesome, they did a great job and they also did a great job cleaning up the yard before they left they even went to my neighbors on both sides and behind me to clean up any garbage that fell into their yard. I would highly recommend this company to everybody

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
