Yes, they ARE truly Amazing Caterers! Ed and Ann catered a party I hosted recently for about 70 people and they are absolutely the best! They prepared incredible food for the party and they truly create an event for you! Ed and Ann are very experienced in the catering business and provided many wonderful recommendations for us about the menu and drink selections. They are extremely thorough and one of their managers did an on-site visit to our venue one week prior to the party so that they would be prepared and know how to set up the event. Their team members who worked at our party were remarkable--personable, professional, and an absolute joy to work with! Amazing Caterers does more than prepare exceptional food, they create an event for you so that you can relax and enjoy your time with your guests. In fact, Ed explained to me that one of his goals as a caterer is to run an event so that the host or hostess is stress free and feels like a guest at their own party. Believe me, they succeeded! If you are looking for a phenomenal catering team in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, look no further...Ann, Ed and their team at Amazing Caterers are your solution. We are planning another event in a few months and I wouldn't think of calling anyone else. Thanks for making our party such an incredible success!

It has been almost a year and my family and friends still are bragging about the best brisket they had ever eaten. My dad I think stalks the sweet guy they call Tater (LOL - love the name!). We must have had 20 plus catering tastings and were exhausted over bad food or sub-par standard chicken at $35 a plate. We had a huge wedding and needed good food but not costing the price of my Nissan. So finally we tried Wedding Wire one more time and found Tatering. Marc was sooooo responsive and seriously answered all my 2000 questions I had over the phone. I must have called him like 4 times. He was patient and answered them all and even offered some great ideas on my timeline. So the big surprise was the quote, my finance and I were skeptical of this because he was more like $24 a plate but it included the dishware, linens, staff and food (meal and apps). Now this all changed with finally meeting him and his chef in Carrollton ( I believe they have moved though). They were so both very nice and Marc talked with us for 2 hours again which was so reassuring. He showed us everything right there during our free tasting (yes free!!). Now the best part... the brisket!! His brisket was so incredibly juicy and not dry. Has some fat on it and comes with his signature sweet barbecue sauce with I think some kind of soda flavor in it. Ok the stuff is to DIE for!! Hubby took a bottle home with him and covered up all my cooking with it, because its so damn good. Now we had his mac n cheese and garlic mashed potatoes which are both very good. We knew this was the right place, signed the contract and paid them right there. So the day of my day was stressful until I heard Tatering arrived, I kept thinking of the barbecue until dinner time. People is was so damn good the second time we ate it and yes his staff had to go boxes made for us which we ate on the plane later. Love you guys!

Luke did a great job catering a sit-down dinner for my daughter's bachelorette weekend. He responded to my initial inquiry promptly and was easy to communicate with via e-mail and text as we planned the menu. The girls wanted to float around the pool and enjoy a few adult beverages during the day, but wanted a restaurant-quality meal that evening without having to worry about dressing up or driving. Luke arrived promptly and served a great meal with a choice of lamb chops or filet mignon as the primary proteins. The meal included a sushi appetizer, salads & sides, and a yummy dessert of creme brulee. He cooked, cleaned, and rolled with the punches with this rowdy group of 8 ladies and they all had a great time and enjoyed the meal. We will definitely hire Luke again for other dinner parties at the house.

Melinda and Whitney arrived on time and were ready to do whatever we needed. They were friendly and conscientious about their work. They kept the bar area clean and kept the line of attendants moving along quickly. My family and friends all commented on what a great job they were doing and inquired about where I found them. They followed the TABC rules as well as the guidelines outlined by the venue. I would definitely recommend them for an event and will call on them again if I need bar service. Thanks Melinda, Terry D. Son's Wedding at Classic Oaks Ranch; Mansfield, TX 11-25-16

We enlisted the catering services of Chef Cassy for our house blessing that was held today. Our menu consisted of chicken tetrazinni, green breans, and cupcakes. Chef Cassy arrived on time with the food and made preparation for the set up. She made sure that everything was in order before she left our home. Our guests wanted to know who prepared the food because it was awesome! I would highly recommend Chef Cassy ' s services to everyone I know.

Jim helped me cater a barbeque for a company appreciation lunch. We found his website and were impressed by the clear, to-the-point menu and pricing options. He was easy to reach and answered all our questions professionally and quickly. On the day of the barbeque, I could smell the delicious food from all the way in the parking lot. He served about 60 guests a spread of brisket, sausage, hot dogs, hamburgers, with all the fixins included. The taste was delicious! I don't think I've tasted better barbeque! I'd highly recommend Meat & Greet for any company or private event. Thanks Jim! :) - Hannah K, Sigma Relocation Group

I work in sales leadership for a Fortune 100 global software company and hired Jared Pierre to cater both food & bar for a Customer & Prospect reception we held at our office. Prior to the event Jared was terrific at offering food suggestions for tray service hors d'oeuvres and he had plenty of beverage options from the bar, both alcoholic and non. His staff was professional and courteous, set up and clean up went well, and we will use Jared Pierre for future events.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good caterer?

Reviews, interviews and menu tastings will help you find the right catering choice for your big day. Start by screening possible wedding caterers based on past reviews. If a caterer you are interested in has a review that concerns you, ask them about it; how they respond will be very telling. Next, ask about their availability for your wedding date.

If the wedding caterer is available on your date, it’s time to talk about menus and prices. Be clear about what your maximum budget is find out what choices this will allow you. Caterers may custom-create a menu for your event, or they may have menu templates within different price ranges that can guide your decision. A clear budget gives the caterer clear parameters within which to work and offer creative suggestions. Schedule a menu tasting to confirm you love your wedding menu. Once you have a menu and date, and have paid a deposit to reserve the caterer’s services, confirm additional details including when the food will be delivered to the site, what kind of service will be provided, how many servers will be onsite and for how long, and who is responsible for setup and cleanup. The more specific your contract, the fewer worries you’ll have on your wedding day. Get more smart hiring tips here.

How much does wedding catering cost per person?

Wedding catering costs will always vary based on the number of guests you’re inviting, the menu you want to serve, and the way the food will be served to your guests. As you interview wedding catering companies, you’ll be presented with a cost per person for various menus. On the low end, wedding catering may cost approximately $15-$18 per person. This would include prepared food only, with no setup or service of any kind. The starting price for a simple buffet meal with minimal service typically averages $22 per person. Opting for the same menu with all organic ingredients could raise your costs to about $33 per person. A moderately upscale menu (finer ingredients, more elaborate presentation) could range from $24 to $34 per person. High-end wedding catering cost truly has no limit. Lobster, filet mignon, specialty seafood, organic ingredients — menu choices like these can boost your cost per person up to $150 and more.

Do you tip a wedding caterer?

Tipping 15 percent to 20 percent on a $3,000 catering bill can feel daunting — especially in light of all the other costs of throwing a wedding — but tipping your wedding caterer is standard practice. Be sure to ask your caterer about their specific policies. Many catering companies include gratuity as a line item on their bill. If tipping is not automatically included in your total, a good approach is to tip all the people involved the day of the event rather than paying one lump sum to the catering company. For each server and bartender, you can tip $20-$50, depending on how long they were onsite and whether they did exceptional work. You can also tip the chef; experts suggest $50. It’s also a good idea to tip the catering manager, the point-of-contact person who keeps the catering service running smoothly the day of your wedding, ensures all the food looks beautiful and is plentiful, and resolves any mishaps. Industry pros recommend tipping the catering manager $100-$200. If gratuity is not included and you’re tipping individuals, set aside $200-$500 in cash to be safe.

How much does it cost to hire a caterer?

Catering prices depend mainly on how fancy you want the food and service to be and how many guests you’ll have. When you’re first looking to hire a caterer for your event, consider how many guests you’ll have and your total food and drink budget. The national average for event catering is $340, but catering prices can range into the thousands depending on your menu, guest count, and service.

Event catering is a broad term that covers everything from fully prepared, ready-to-eat food that the hosts plate and serve themselves to full-service, multicourse meals, including rental of linens, glassware and other items, with service staff organized by the catering company. Usually a caterer will determine cost based on the type of event you’re having, how many guests will attend, the level of service you desire, and what type of menu you’d like to have. For example, if you have a set catering budget, say $1,500, and you plan to have 50 people attend, that means you have $30 per person for food. If you have the same budget with 100 people, you have $15 per person for food. In this way, the number of people you want to attend your event and the level of food you want to serve them determines how much catering will cost.

What should you look for in a caterer?

A delicious meal is a critical element of a successful wedding, with happy guests fondly remembering your fabulous wedding food. The right caterer for you will be:

  • Available: Even the best caterer is no good if they aren’t available on your wedding date. Ask early before you get your heart set on someone.
  • Affordable for you: Find a caterer that you can afford. Having a spending plan ahead of time will mean you won’t overspend on food.
  • A good personality fit: Wedding planning is stressful, so work with someone that you can get along with and communicate with easily.
  • Experienced and recommended: Ensure the company has a proven track record with events of your size and the references to back it up.
  • Transparent about money: Steer clear of shady pricing. Find a caterer who is very clear about costs and is happy to talk you through budgets and pricing options.
  • Transparent about food: Find someone who is clear about where they source their food from and where it is prepared.

This is a 2 hours open house and we just found out that our building doesn't allow us to serve alcohol, unless we have a licensed bartender on site. So I am just getting a quote for the cost and then make a decision as to hire one or not. Thanks
