About

Over the last year, I have been fortunate to have Hilton Butler from K-9 Bootcamp train my puppy so he could become a therapy dog. From the first encounter with the Butler family I knew my dog would be in good hands. They understood the purpose of his training and knew what he would have to learn in order to become a therapy dog for kids with special needs. I was greatly relieved to know that my dog would be staying in their house with their children. This meant a lot to me since my dog spent 6 weeks being trained. To know that he would not be neglected in a kennel on a large property was a huge relief. Auggie was immediately welcomed by all family members and was treated like one of their own pets. He was in loving hands from the moment he walked in the door. I felt that Hilton was able to apply various protocols to meet my dog’s needs due to his extensive background with K-9 training in the military, police, and service dog environments. Hilton demonstrates a firm hand while training, but uses positive reinforcement as well, which was needed for my dog. He ensures that you know the protocols to carry over in the home environment after training is complete. If there was any question regarding Auggie’s behaviors at home, Hilton was available by email, phone, and even conducted follow up sessions at my house. K-9 Boot Camp is a professional and loving dog training facility. They excel in providing individual treatment to meet your specific training goals. Customer service and compassion for their work shines through. Hilton, took time on a Sunday in November to drive all the way to Auggie’s therapy test for moral support. Auggie passed with flying colors and now comes to work everyday as a certified therapy dog. He is happy in his new role making sure all kids have a smile on their face while receiving therapy! We could not have done it with out Hilton.

About

We are dedicated animal lovers with 5 dogs of our own, plus typically 1-2 foster dogs. Needless to say, dog training at our house could be a challenging task for any other professional, but Valerie has truly been a lifesaver and has made tremendous progress with all of our dogs. From the moment Valerie walked into our home, we've been 100% comfortable with her and have been so impressed by her work -- her once-a-week visits have made a remarkable improvement in each of our dogs. Her ability to work with a wide range of dogs and behavioral problems is particularly impressive -- we've seen Valerie make a world of difference in our personal dogs with reactivity & control issues, to completely rehabilitating a foster dog from a hoarding situation/extreme neglect/zero socialization. In sum, we could not be happier or more impressed with Valerie's work -- HIGHLY recommend!

About

As a former Veterinary Technician, I thought I knew and truly understood the basics of obedience training. Then I met Steve 7 years ago and realized I was clueless to true canine behavior. In the 7 years we have known each other, I have seen him train dogs even ACS's or HS's would assume were a lost cause. He has trained my dog, Seth, in both obedience and protection (Bullmastiff). Seth is one of the most obedient and wonderful dogs I have ever known. The one thing I did know about protection/"guard dog training" prior to meeting Steve was that no one seemed to know what they were doing, many times ruining a dog's core personality and creating unpredictable and dangerous animals. In addition to the many dogs I have seen him work with, he also trained my daughter's wolf hybrid, Kyla. Kyla has all the psychological attributes of a wolf but not all the physical characteristics of a pure wolf (even though she looks very similar to a Timber wolf). She has both Timber and Tundra wolf in her as well as some Akita. So basically the opposite of what you want: An animal I was convinced had crack stashed somewhere in the backyard...LOL After Steve worked with her (along with my daughter and I), Kyla is actually a well-behaved indoor dog (notice I didn't say "normal"). She is not destructive indoors, can be taken on walks, is completely housebroken and totally understands what is asked of her. Kyla has more energy than my daughter and I combined, but she is good at socialization, is protective yet not dangerous, fun to play with and we love her very much. Did I mention she just turned only two years old? Yep, toddler years for her. :) Thank you Steve, for helping my daughter and I in actually being able to share our home with a wolf...an animal my daughter has wanted for a long time and I have grown to love and cherish as well. For everyone who has taken the time to read the reviews on here, they are very accurate in regards to Mr. Johnson's abilities as a behaviorist, trainer and human coach. The relationship and understanding he can teach you and your canine companion to have together is truly priceless.

About

We offer training on basic obedience board and train. This program starts with your dog coming to K-9, and staying with us for 10-14 days. While your dog is with us, we teach six basic commands: heel, sit, down, stay, come and finish heel. The commands are taught verbally, silently (hand signals), and with leash commands (the position of your leash). We also work to counter condition behavior problems while your dog is with us. Some common behavior problems are housebreaking, chewing, digging, barking, bolting, jumping and mouthing. Once your dog has completed the training, we bring you and your family in for a one-hour orientation. Training the owners is the most important part of our obedience program! After the orientation, your dog returns home with you, and you will schedule a time to come back to K-9 for follow-up lessons. The follow-up lessons are once (or twice) a week. The lessons start as private lessons averaging 20-30 minutes in length; you usually will have 4-5 private lessons. After your private lessons, you will start your distraction lessons which include door manners and working around other dogs. From there, you will progress into a group class. We have group classes on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings. Most owners average 4-5 group classes to graduate. At graduation, you'll receive a diploma, and the obedience is guaranteed 100% for life!
