Mr. Irwin Witebsky is indeed the expert authority on piano instruction here in San Antonio and is very good on tailoring his teachings to his students' needs and capabilities. I am currently a student at Berklee College of Music working on my Master Certificate in Electronic Music Production. Taking piano lessons from Mr. Irwin has definitely enhanced my productions as I've been gaining an understanding in advanced music theory and created compelling melodies in my productions. My goal is to be able to do live EDM performances playing synths along my tracks and I know that Mr. Irwin will be a good facilitator to help me reach my goals. Even on my most busiest schedule involving work, school, DJing while taking care of family, Irwin has professionally made time to fit into my schedule and I commend and thank him greatly for it. You won't be disappointed, this is the best value in piano lessons I've ever had.

My 6 year old son has been working with Mr. Nolan on on the electric guitar for a couple of months now. Mr Nolan is a very knowledgeable, caring, and patient teacher and my son is always excited to go to the lesson each week and even practice at home. I was hesitant to start my 6 year old on the guitar as I felt he might have been a bit young but I have been extremely happy with his progress. On a side note, Mr. Nolan is even letting me learn and play along using one of his guitars! This is my childhood dream so I am thrilled! If you are looking for guitar lessons, I would recommend Mr. Nolan with no hesitation.

Awesome from the start. I decided in my 50s that it was time to finally learn guitar. I took some lessons from another instructor, but we just didn’t jive. Tried Zach and my search is over. I learned more in the first lesson than a half dozen from the other guy. Zach’s best qualities are that he is patient and he listens to you. Great combination for a beginner. He already has me playing several chords and simple songs after two lessons. His approach to practice keeps me motivated. My frustration level decreased dramatically and I’m finally excited about learning again. Save yourself some time and give Zach a call!

We love Cindy. She is full of love for others and for our Lord. She taught my son piano since he was 5 for over 4 years, and started with my daughter when she was 6. My kids have totally different personalities and she taylered the lessons to what worked best for them and got them excited to learn. I am sad we are no longer close to her, or they would still be taking lessons from Cindy.

Maria is amazing and though I have never met her in person, she is like family. She is also working wonders with my husband who came from a small NC mountain town and had little to no language learning background. I love Maria and she will be one of our first guests at our new house in Costa Rica. I have been working with her for over a year now and hope to continue for a long time to come.

Letslie is amazing! I am finally pursuing one of my goals with learning how to play the piano and she has been very flexible with my schedule! She also has been pushing me to learn some things that I find challenging but I appreciate it because I am very competitive! If you want a professional who works around your schedule, will challenge you, and will listen to your ideas as far as what style of music you want to play Letslie is your girl! Incredible pianist!

My daughter has been taking lessons from Mr. Olson for about two months now. She has made amazing progress so far, from nothing to playing chords and a few songs. Mr. Olson is able to redirect and focus my 7 year old to keep her on task and learning the lesson of the week. He certainly has the patience to teach young children. His lessons are tailored to each student to keep them progressing. As with any child, my daughter was very enthusiastic when she asked to learn guitar, but that interest waned after the first few weeks after she discovered that this takes real work to learn. Mr. Olson has managed to keep her progressing and brought back her interest in continuing her lessons. His style is encouraging and corrective without being negative, always praising the students efforts. He also has an amazingly advanced knowledge and understanding of teaching theory for an instructor only in his early 20's, much better grounding in education fundamentals than many seasoned and highly degreed teachers I know. His level of understanding of how to teach shows in the progress my daughter has made and respect she has for Mr. Olson. He is also a very competent and accomplished guitar player in his own right. For anyone looking to learn guitar I highly recommend you check out Daniel Olson, I could not recommend him highly enough.

Beau is an exceptional guitar instructor. He was quick to respond to any questions I had and arrived on time to my lesson. I don't have much experience playing guitar, but I feel we covered a lot of ground during the first lesson. He helped boost my confidence in playing and motivated me to practice during the time between lessons. His pricing was very reasonable and he was able to accommodate to my schedule and location. I look forward to more lessons to come and would highly recommend Beau.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

      What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

      • Asthma attack
      • Anaphylaxis
      • Burns
      • Choking
      • Diabetic emergencies
      • External bleeding
      • Heart attack
      • Poisoning
      • Neck, head or back injury
      • Stroke
      • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

How much do Spanish tutors charge?

Nationally, the average cost for a Spanish tutor ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. The cost for a Spanish tutor can vary depending on whether you choose private instruction or group lessons. Geographic location can affect cost; tutors in expensive cities and pricier regions command higher rates than in rural areas and small towns. The experience and education of the Spanish tutor will also affect their rates. For adult education, many people learning Spanish choose to join a Spanish school with tutors who teach group classes and also offer private tutoring for students. Typically these schools charge a monthly tuition that gives students access to a set number of classes per week, with private tutoring available at an additional cost. One example of an average cost is a monthly tuition of $200, which includes five 90-minute group lessons per month. Monthly tuition can vary depending on the school and the teachers. Short-term workshops are also a way to learn Spanish. Students may work with a Spanish tutor and group of other students at their skill level for a short period of time. One example of an average price is $100 for an eight-week course, with one 60-minute group class per week.
