My husband and I can't say enough about how much we loved working with Angie throughout the whole wedding planning process. First of all, she is warm, caring and kind, and genuinely listened to my ideas from the beginning. She was always there when I had a question or needed last minute help. She is highly organized and super responsive via e-mail and text btw, which is very helpful for two busy people! Having Angie there on our wedding day to take care of the little things such as grabbing cards, champagne, and lunch for our wedding party as well as a few of the bigger things helped everything run smoothly! It also enabled our out-of-town friends and family to be able to enjoy the wedding instead of having to work on our special day. Angie even had a bridal and groom's emergency kit that the groomsmen definitely took advantage of :) When it was all said and done, everything was perfect and we couldn't have done it without Angie! Thank you so much!!!

Brown Brothers Catering has catered several of our family's events: 50th birthday celebration for my Aunt, my sister's wedding, and even a concert we put on for our community. Whatever the event, they can handle it. I also run a videography company and have been to several events, mostly weddings, as the videographer and have seen Brown Brothers Catering over deliver time and time again. Whether it's corporate clients or friends and family, Brown Brothers Catering is THE catering company I recommend every single time.

Mckenna has a passion and enthusiasm you can't buy. She loves her work and really values her clients' vision as well as budget. She has great ideas but was never pushy. She relieved a lot of my wedding stress so I didn't turn into a complete Bridezilla, doing everything from organizing third party vendors to online shopping for me to getting the guests into dancing at the reception. She was instrumental in making my wedding day hands down, and hearts up, the happiest day of my life.

I have used Ashley at Areum Event Co. for 2 private events so far. Ashely's skills and expertise in the event industry are second to none. My wedding was beautiful, from the gorgeous flowers to the delicious catering & cake. I was extremely glad I chose to use her. My company also had a holiday party and she helped us from beginning to end, first finding us a venue that fit our needs and budget, then helping us find fun entertainment. We love their bar service - try their signature cocktail! Their bar is an awesome experience on it's own. We got to create specialty cocktails and had some really fun bartenders. I recommend Ashley to everyone I come across! She takes care of everything!

I have worked alongside many people throughout my 8+ years in the event industry. To succeed and achieve optimal results, a planner must have a unique skill set to succeed; Kayla is one of those planners. When working with Kayla, my worries and stress is eliminated because I know I can rely on her sense of judgment, ability to follow through on projects, and stay well-under budget. She gets it! Kayla has the ability to see the whole picture from conception to clean-up. It's always a pleasure working with Kayla!

Natalie proved to be a godsend for us as we planned a "surprise engagement AND wedding weekend" in Park City with the wedding and reception at the St. Regis, Deer Valley! My son - the visionary - wanted to surprise his girlfriend of five years with a completely planned wedding within 24 hours of the engagement. We had about 2 months to plan, and I live in St. Louis! Natalie stepped in and recommended vendors, resources, and ideas for numerous details we hadn't thought of. She has great working relationships and connections throughout the Park City area. She was so excited about this unique and special event and her enthusiasm endeared her to us all. She was incredibly responsive to my 100s of questions and shared several creative options to solve the issues created by our short planning window - things I couldn't have figured out on my own. When you meet her in person, you will find her to be very fun and upbeat, quick to get things done, a great communicator, professional and passionate about her work. Our entire family adores her! The event could not have been more beautiful and perfect. A truly amazing experience! I am so grateful to Natalie! ~Susan Sullivan (photo creds: @peppernix)

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How much does it cost for a wedding planner?

Wedding planning is a full-time job — unless you hire a professional to handle the hard work for you. The cost for a wedding planner will depend on the level of service you desire. The least expensive wedding planner option is day-of coordination, then partial service, then full-service.

The national average cost for wedding planning is between $990 and $1,300. Costs are greatly affected by region, with rural or smaller-town wedding planners often far more affordable than planners in higher-cost cities. Here are some examples of the various levels of wedding planning and their potential average costs:

        • Day-of-wedding coordination: $800-$1,700. Day-of services can include the planner finalizing all details, creating a timeline, confirming vendors and overseeing all setup, day-of activities, and cleanup. The couple does all the front-end planning and contracts all the vendors. Time commitment could be about 15-25 hours, depending on pricing.
        • Partial service: $1,500-$3,800. Here the planner works with the couple from the beginning, helping contract vendors, creating a timeline, and overseeing all details of day-of execution. Time commitment could be about 30-60 hours, depending on package and pricing.
        • Full service: $3,500-$8,000 or more. Here the professional handles all wedding and planning details including working on design, securing rentals, getting the venue and vendors, and handling complete execution of the event. Time commitment could be 50-150 hours or more, depending on package and pricing.
        • Consulting: $50-$150 per hour for design, vendor, reception and other wedding planning consultation.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
