Deon was awesome. He did a great job and even pointed out a leak in my porch roof that I did know was there. Really impressed and would definitely use his services again. Thanks Deon!

Mike came when he said he would, estimated and completed a repair job that other roofers had passed on or not shown up. And when it appeared to still be leaking after a downpour, he fixed leaky gutters to prove it was not the roof. AshCo does thourough work and stands behind it.

After a few bids, we decided to see what IWC had to offer. Their bid was not the lowest, but if you compare quality for quality, IWC was the better deal. Gerald was very knowledgeable and paid good attention to details of our roof that the other companies didn't mention. Such details include several of the plywood panels needed replacing along with our heater vent. We had confidence that they would take good care of our home. They lived up to our expectations. We needed a tear off and full roof replacement. Joe and crew completed the project within 5 hours from start to finish. Joe,the lead roofer, installed our bathroom vent hose in our attic for a decent price. I would recommend IWC for anyone seeking a good-quality, long-term roof with a great warranty.

If you want professionalism, reliability, fair pricing, follow-through routine clean-up, and being treated with respect hire someone else. Rodney Belt, the owner, is the worst contractor I've ever dealt with. I hired Alliance Contractors on July 13th and put money down so my roofing job would be put on their to do soon schedule. Once they had my $8,000, they were in no hurry to replace my roof. After multiple no shows, "rain delays", broken promises, and poor communication except to collect money, they started my roof replacement 6 weeks later. They left debris, tar, and nails all over my yard and driveway and multiple boxes of shingles and roof vents in the middle of my driveway. They picked up the boxes of shingles and vents several weeks later after several calls. I paid the extra $500 they charged me over their bid for 10 pieces of plywood they had to replace. I misplaced my final insurance check, issued after a final inspection, and had to have it reissued. I told the owner, Rodney Belt, about the circumstances, that it would be delayed, and that I would pay it as soon as I received it. I told his office collection staff the same thing. Rodney was angry and the next day he filed a lien against my house, 27 days after my roof was finished while I was waiting for the insurance check. I was charged $350 over my contract price for the lien. I put the $3,600 on my credit card instead of waiting for the insurance check. I hope to never have to deal with Alliance Contractors again. There are a lot of good reliable roofing contractors out there. Do yourself a favor and go to one of them.

Israel did a great job helping me pick the right roofing materials for my home, completed the whole job in a single day, and was by far the best price out of all of the quotes I got from a variety of roofing companies. There may be better quality roofers out there, but only if you're willing to pay a lot more.

I really appreciate the experience working with Mattie and his team. As soon as Mattie came into the picture from bidding to scheduling, I knew I had a trusted roofer/contractor on my side. He also presented the most professional bid I received and included the wall repairs/paint caused by the roof leak, which is important to me. I strongly recommend Master Roofing!

I needed a quick quote for a pending home purchase with VERY short deadlines, and Smitty was extremely helpful. He was very quick to respond, went out the same day, and sent back a very reasonable written quote quickly as well. The seller ended up replacing the roof for us so we did not need to move forward on our end, but if we had we would not have hesitated to hire Superior Home Improvement. Great experience all around, thank you for your help!

My window well kept filling with water and flooding my basement. I called my landlord, who in turn called Kore Investments LLC Property Maintenance Solutions. They were out the SAME morning, getting the flooding stopped and finding out the cause. There was ahuge snowstorm and it wasn't safe on the roof and i thought Christmas was ruined because it wasn't supposed to stop until after Christmas. But the 23rd Jen emailed and said she wanted to try and work a Christmas miracle. She sent Roofers out ASAP and now my basement is better than new. They were prompt, they kept their promises and cleaned up after themselves. They kept me informed and never left me guessing. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

They came out and evaluated the cause for our leaking roof, made some simple fixes and charged us very little for their time and effort. I very much appreciate their honesty and not taking advantage of my lack of knowledge.

He provided multiple options and clear pricing, along with his recommendation. Once we decided to move forward with the work he was able to schedule and complete it in under a week.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
