My interaction with Utah Basements turned out to be a complete nightmare. They consistently fell short of their commitments, caused damage to my property, and demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism throughout the project. I intend to take strict action against the company. I engaged with Utah Basements earlier this year after being approached by Lucas. Initially optimistic about my basement project, I signed a contract with them, expecting it to be completed within a specific timeframe. However, the reality of working with Utah Basements was vastly different from what was promised. The project faced numerous delays right from the start, and the constant change of contractors disrupted the workflow significantly. One major issue was their poor communication and misunderstanding of the project's scope. My Project Manager, Fernando, was unresponsive, and the project was even handed off to Amanda, who was equally unhelpful. Moreover, they accidentally damaged my HVAC system during their work. The inspection process was a nightmare, with delays in scheduling inspections until much later. Even when inspections were finally arranged, the project required several re-works before gaining approval. A significant problem arose when Utah Basements refused to rectify their mistakes, such as covering the ceiling without retrieving pre-existing wiring, and then asking for additional payment to correct their error. The situation worsened when Ricardo, originally in finance, took over as the Project Manager, highlighting their lack of organizational professionalism and constant shifting of responsibilities. Issues persisted with painting contractors, and there were claims of inability to locate wiring in the ceiling for my speaker system. Despite making a second payment well beyond the promised timeline, they abruptly canceled the contract without prior discussion, imposing unjustified fees. Their actions not only deeply disappointed me but also left me financially burdened. It's a painful lesson, and I strongly advise avoiding Utah Basements. Their conduct throughout this experience showcased a lack of integrity and professionalism.

Mike at American Residential was exactly what a project manager should be. We went into our basement project with high hopes that we’d be able to make the absolute most of the space and some of the awkward placements from the original builder of piping and venting etc. and Mike and his team delivered with kindness, cooperation, patience, and grace. The design changed and resources were rotated to accomplish different pieces of the project within a timely manner. At one point, the delay in our ability to continue was completely our fault as the client, and when we were ready to start back up again things moved quick and efficiently. When there were issues or changes we requested, Mike exhibited a great sense of humility and willingness to make everything right as quickly as possible. He turned my basement into a the perfect apartment space and I would highly recommend working with him to my friends and family.
