I decided to select EBRR prop cleanup after reading some positive reviews from other restaurant operators who needed construction post cleaning. Also, since they are locally owned small business compared to a national francise. The admin Ed bilo when we set the initial appointment for estimate and inspection. The project lead was Luis one of the general managers. Our Indian restaurant had severe dust buildup on the hvac lines and wires which needed to be cleaned. The cleaning took a full day with four cleaners for our 8000 square foot place. There was no dilly dallying and everyone was working the entire time and Ed showed up later to make sure that all the tasked had been completed. I have already scheduled them to come sanitize our kitchen on a monthly basis.

José arroces on time to clean my air ducts. He also cleaned vents and drier duct. Some duct work was hanging that he fixed quickly at no charge. I have an old unit and thermostat at the house I just bought,I guess the cleaning shorted some wire out because the Ac didn't work when he was done. He immediately called a hvac tech and ensured everything was working before he left. Jose is a very knowledgable professional who takes pride in his work. He was quick to respond, no hidden charges, and fairly price. I would recommend his services to anyone and will be turning to him first for any others jobs I need.

Our experience with MAC was amazing. Despite finding multiple issues with our HVAC during the ckean, Tamas was so helpful and thorough throughout the process. He took extra time to explain everything to me and my husband so we would know what was going on and what to look for in the future. He found mold on the insulation in the HVAC and in one of our bathroom exhaust fans (both of which were not found in our home inspection nor the HVAC service 1 month ago). He advised us what to do ourselves and even suggested some cost saving options. He cleaned out our dryer lint and the vent without charging additional fees. He sanitized the vents and entire system to ensure no remaining mold could grow. I have already recommended him to my brother and would absolutely have Tamas back out to our home for another ckean (though with the job he did, we won't need one anytime soon!). Absolutely, hire him - he was on time - even earlier than us! And did an amazing and entirely complete job, including and educating us throughout the process.

The technician (Hached) was very responsive in scheduling an appointment, was able to come on a Sunday, arrived on time, and completed the work quickly. The cost of the job ended up being significantly higher than anticipated, but I think that's on me - I should have requested the hourly labor rate in advance - lesson learned!

This is definitely a company to recommend. I am so pleased with the response by the ownership to a concern that I had about one of their technicians who had come to the job site. After voicing my displeasure, the company promised to rectify the situation. They were very concerned and made every effort to repair a capacitor on a roof top compressor. The technician repaired it in less than 2 hours. He was very professional and thorough. In my capacity as an asset manager, rehabber, and Realtor, I am always in need of the services of competent trades. I called Logan after getting a ridiculous estimate of $910 (after a 10% discount) to repair the A/C capacitor and contact from an A/C company listed by Yelp. I paid their service fee of $215 and dismissed them, knowing that they were a ripoff. Logan charged a fraction of what the ripoff company proposed. Not only is Logan Mechanical competent , they exude integrity, and fairness in their business dealings. Logan Mechanical, LLC is # 1 in my book!

We had a concern about mold in our Basement and a very tight timeline with long-term guests coming within a week. Not only did Val make sure to get the work done on our schedule , but when another area was discovered mid-job that needed remediation, he stayed late to get it done that day so we wouldn't have to move our guests. big relief in an overall totally stressful situation. Not to mention technicians were on time, cleaned up AMAZINGLY after themselves, and Val made a point of explaining each step to me and showing me exactly what they did and what they found.

I had Gomez help me with some HVAC work in my bathroom. We needed to move a air vent from the floor to the ceiling due to a bathroom remodel. He was Fantastic. I would recommend him to any friend or family member. He was on time. Price was great. He explained what he was going to do and executed everything on time. Seeing as how I live in an old Arlington house, we of course uncovered issues along the way and he was able to still complete the job without jacking up the price. I cannot say the same for other contractors that I have worked with in the past. If you need Heating and AC work done in your home, call Gomez. He is a great professional.

The technician was quickly responsive, professional, punctual, knowledgable, and polite. He did the work requested for the charge he quoted and answered a plethora of questions patiently and knowledgeably. I tend to be more one to complain about bad customer service than to gush about good service, but he was 100% on top of everything. I give this company my highest recommendation

Working with Salvation LLC was a wonderful experience. Ernesto and his team are outstanding. In fact, Ernesto found a creative solution to my HVAC/water heater issue that several other HVAC companies had not even considered. The finished installation was beyond my expectations; pre-installation preparation and post-installation cleanup could not have been better. I have had HVAC/water heater work done in the past but Salvation's work was superior to all of these other companies. The work was done at a reasonable price in a timely manner and Ernesto made sure that I understood all that would be involved in the installation. I highly recommend Salvation! I have already scheduled some additional HVAC work with Salvation and they will absolutely be my go-to HVAC company going forward :-)

Excellent service!!!!! I contacted Brian to get an estimate on a HVAC system, we set up an appt. for the next day. I was very pleased with the prices and with the fact that he was very knowledgeable and didn't try to over sale me on product and services that I really didn't need , so I decided to use his company. Mr.Akinfe and his technician provided top notch customer service. Polite, professional, he knows his business, great pricing, I couldn't be happier with this company, they even made sure they cleaned up everything before they left. I highly recommended him. A.J. I was having problems with my heat pump. My house was freezing cold, and the previous technician didn't fix it properly. Luke Gardner responded to my request in minutes, offered to come out THE SAME DAY, and fixed it properly in about an hour. Now my house is nice and warm. Awesome job! This guy is my new HVAC technician.

Nasir was very responsive and arrived at our house at the requested time. He was able to confirm what the problem was with our HVAC system and was able to complete the repair with material on his truck. His service fee was reasonable and the overall cost for the repair was very competitive. He also offered a solution to avoid future problems & repairs. I would recommend Nasir for HVAC diagnosis and repair.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who fixes furnaces?

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

What is an HVAC system?

The letters in HVAC stand for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. An HVAC system enables you to regulate your home or building’s internal temperature (thermal control) for comfortable living and working. You can bring heat levels down in the summer and up in the winter, keeping your home or office livable year-round. HVAC systems can also help with humidity levels and regulate indoor air quality in a home or office. There are many types of HVAC systems and technologies available.

Many homes have a forced-air HVAC system. Both the heating and the central air conditioning units share a ductwork system where they either push in or pull out warm or cooled air. There are also heating and cooling systems that don’t require ductwork — such as ductless mini-splits — but work on the same principles of heat exchange. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670, with costs varying depending on the work you need done and the equipment you are installing.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How many years does HVAC last?

The number of years an HVAC system lasts depend on the type and brand of components that make up your system. The lifespan of an air conditioner averages between 15 and 20 years. The life expectancy of a tankless water heater is approximately 20 years, while a storage water heater is closer to 10-15 years. Ducts may need replacing within 10-15 years. Your equipment will have a longer life if you have regular tuneups and maintenance to keep everything in good working order. If you’re having repair problems and your HVAC system is over 10 years old, it’s a good time to consider the costs and benefits of repairing vs. replacing. Energystar.gov provides the following tips to help you decide whether to repair or replace:

  • Your HVAC system needs frequent repairs and your energy bills are increasing.
  • Your cooling or heating equipment is less efficient.
  • Rooms in your home are too hot or too cold.
  • Your heat pump or air conditioner is more than 10 years old.
    • Replacing your system with an Energy Star-certified unit could save up to 20 percent on your heating and cooling bills.
  • Your furnace or boiler is more than 15 years old.
    • You may choose to replace your system with an Energy Star-certified furnace (which is 15 percent more efficient than a conventional furnace) or an Energy Star-certified boiler (which is 5 percent more efficient).
  • Your home has humidity problems.
  • Your home has excessive dust.
    • Leaky ducts can pull particles and air from attics, crawl spaces and basements and distribute them throughout your house. Sealing your ducts may be a solution.
  • Your heating or cooling system is noisy.
    • You could have an undersized duct system or a problem with the indoor coil of your cooling equipment.
  • Your score on the Home Energy Yardstick is below five.
    • That means your home energy use is above average and you're probably paying too much for your utilities.
