Working with Ryan was fantastic from start to finish! He made the booking process extremely easy, and we had our first lesson soon after reaching out. Ryan quickly assessed our situation, and provided guidance and instruction that resulted in an immediate improvement in our dog's behavior and our dog-parenting skills! We appreciated Ryan's level-headed and real world approach to dog training, and think he set us on the right course for a long-lasting and awesome relationship with our pup!
Kathryn was very knowledgeable and left me with some great tips to help with my dog's behavior.
Jojo did an awesome job with our vizsla pup, Argos. She's very meticulous and articulate in training our dog. Her strategies are very effective especially with a very hyper dog. We love her and we would recommend her to anybody looking for in-home dog training.
I've had one lesson with Kimberly and wished I had contacted her sooner to get started on training my German Shepherd rescue. What I like best about Kimberly's approach is her care and attention for the well-being of my dog. Working with Kimberly has helped me to understand that an obedient dog isn't necessarily a happy or well-adjusted dog. Kimberly's method of training takes in the "whole dog" concept addressing nutrition, mental, and physical fitness. As a new dog owner she's helped me to understand how to interpret my dogs behavior and what my dog needs from me as the pack leader. Training is fun, the homework is simple and Kimberly is always on hand to answer a question. The welcome package (lots of goodies) she provided exceeded my expectations and Kimberly has become my "go-to" for additional resources for my dog.
Mike is fantastic ! I was able to schedule our training sessions during the holidays while visiting family. He was very accommodating. Mike's training uses a positive reinforcement - no fear or intimidation and no shock collars! Our 7 month old puppy, Capone, (APBT) was becoming a little stubborn with distractions, making it somewhat difficult to get him out and about. Mike also provided an amazing amount of information on dog behavior and dog psychology. After the first training session I noticed Capone had a change in behavior he was better behaved and within 4 and was obeying commands much better. Mike spent as much time teaching/training us how to react or not react to our puppy in order to discourage or praise him for his certain behaviors. So glad I chose Mike at Quarter Moon Kennels and will be contacting him again if needed!
Lara is terrific, and we recommend her wholeheartedly! Whether you need basic obedience or have a dog with serious problem behaviors (as was the case with our dog), Lara's in-depth knowledge and flexibility can help you build a better bond and happier co-existence with your dog. In our case, we deeply appreciated that Lara recognized those areas where we could use new/improved techniques and skipped over the areas where we were ok. This saved us both time and frustration, and allowed us to more quickly address the true problem areas. We still have much work ahead, but I am incredibly grateful to Lara for putting us on the right track!
Jody came by to coach us through some issues we've been having with our puppy: nipping, barking, jumping, and leash pulling. Jody spent 1.5 hours teaching us techniques to work with our puppy, and managing our expectations so that we know what's normal puppy behavior. We're already seeing great results! Jody was very patient, knowledgeable, and helpful as we work to train our puppy to be the best dog she can be! All of her techniques are positive, and reinforced with treats. No awful choke collars, shock callers, or leash jerking necessary.
Elisa has been an outstanding care provider / trainer for our two Portugese Water Dogs. In addition to daily visits while we are working, Elisa also does overnight stays with the pups when we travel. Elisa is the only care provider they have known. As for training expertise, we call Elisa the "dog whisperer"! What she can get groups of dogs to do is nothing short of amazing!
Orla, the owner of Adventure Paws, is great! I cannot recommend her highly enough. We moved to Allston with our 7 year old Norwich terrier, who was not very happy about the change. Orla has patiently worked with our dog to make her more comfortable in the new neighborhood and with new dogs. Orla has been great about reinforcing training and working to curb bad behaviors/encouraging good behaviors. Our dog has been much better behaved since Orla came into the picture. She is highly responsive and flexible. We get text updates about our dog's daily walk and anything they worked on/fun things they did. If we ever need a change in timing Orla makes sure our dog is taken care of. Aside from daily walks Orla has stayed for overnight stays when we have been away - it was great to know that our dog was well taken care of when we were gone. If you need a dog walker in the Allston area Adventure Paws is the place!
I started with Academy when our rescue 14 month GSD was a year old and am very pleased with the results. I'm not sure who is being trained though. If you have the time and opportunity definitely take the group class over a period of time. In a subtle way Haywood shows you insights into your dogs behavior while you work with the dog. There are no "trade secrets" in his classes. He explains in a friendly manner the whats, whys, and how to train and its dependent on the particular dog. Some dogs connect differently. You will eventually have a moment when you're home working with your dog when you realize that you're actually communicating with your dog. Reading the dog and answering back. Its amazing. I firmly believe that this is the place if you seriously want to understand your dog and have a well trained dog. There are many options available here for training. You really can't go wrong. Haywood has over 30 years in the business. I'm getting good results with him.
Ms Maxine and Her Husband are exemplary trainers. They are very flexible, and very effective. Their instructions are clear. I saw a great turnaround in my dog's behavior immediately after the training session, and continued to improve from then on. This is a great program.
Annmarie was instrumental in helping me and my girlfriend train our dog to avoid being aggressive with our cat. Her techniques had the dog attuned to us rather than the cat inside of an hour. To be sure this remains a work in progress but we are indebted to get for her help. She was professional and punctual.
Sharon was awesome! Was able to lay the foundation to correct slot of my puppies bad behavior. More than satisfied with my session!
Melissa is a great dog trainer. She is patient with both dogs and humans, knowledgeable about lots of myths concerning dog training, and effective using positive methods (no electric training collars).
We were desperate about our Shepherd - Lab rescue's behavior when we started working with Jane. Our friends and family were not comfortable in our house because of his fearful / aggressive behavior and intimidating barking. We were not able to walk him or go anywhere in public without worrying. We saw a change after the first week of lessons with Jane. She knew exactly what to do to get Arlo to settle and to help us work with him in a different way. Six weeks later he is comfortable with strangers and we are able to walk him almost anywhere with confidence. Jane was a life saver.
Paramount Family Services has provided for our family and Christian, our dog, exceptional services for over 2 years! Because of their experience and expertise, they provide more than a dog watching, dog sitting service, but a dog caring, dog vetanarian service. Christian loves Jonise, responds postively to her and looks forward to spending time with her whenever we travel out of town! We highly recommend them to dog owners who want the best possible care provided to their pets while in town or out of town!
He was very pleasant and very patient with me and my dog. My dog had never received training before and I shouldn’t have wait until she was 11 months to start, but Tony was patient and nice the entire time. I will continue to utilize his service in the future and recommend that you give him a try.
Dom was very professional and helpful. Besides walking, Butchy, he even taught him some better behavior!
Good Dog Pet Care is wonderful! We are experienced dog owners but our latest rescue turned out to be a "dominant" dog & we had no experience with that. Alex saved the day (& the dog)! His knowledge of animal behavior is superior & he taught us so much. His dog walking service is also superior. His employees all share his love of dogs, are prompt & reliant, & our dog always returns happy & tired! All I have to say is "Alex is coming" & she sits @ the front door waiting for him, without moving, until he gets here. It is very obvious how much Fiona loves Alex! We have used Alex's services for over a year now & couldn't be happier. Right now Alex & his dog Hank are staying @ our house for 2 weeks while we are on vacation. We are truly relaxed knowing that Alex is there & Fiona is happy & content. You will not regret using Alex!

I thoroughly enjoy training animals whether it be dogs or horses. I have been training for over 30 years. Taining involves spending time with your animal and that is good for everyone.
